I Don't know what's best for you to do, but I can tell you with confidence the way the conversation would go with my partner and I.... "Did you get a manual pressure on this pt, or did you just trust the monitor cuff the whole way?" "No man, I got some manuals, but the monitor cuff is good enough." "I was watching and didn't see you get out or the intubation seat the entire transfer, when did you do your manuals? "How about if you don't worry about it??" "You should plan a meeting with the District Manager in the morning. I'm going to take it to him and allow him to sort it out." At which point he would go to bed and in the morning he would burn my ass down for being a dipshit, pretend medical provider. And I couldn't respect that more. The reason I'm saying that I can't tell you what to do is that, though I love his attitude, and his willingness to question me on anything and everything, not all services value that. If yours does, you should throw this lazy prick to the dogs. If they don't, then you need to balance your need to feed your family against a complaint that is likely to do nothing more than make you feel better, yet not change anything. Decide now what type of provider you're going to be. I've known since treating my first patient that sooner or later I am going to be fired for defending my morals or ethics. I'm fortunate that my wife has made it clear that should I ever decide to injure my spirit to maintain my paycheck that it's best that I keep that to myself as I will not be considered a hero at home, but not all families are like that. You must decide now, and every day, what you're willing to forfeit morally and ethically to maintain your job. If the answer is very little, to nothing, then create some paper on this shithead and help management begin the task of putting him in the unemployment line. Not sure if this helps, but I find that the moral/ethical challenges of EMS make the medicine pale in comparison. Dwayne

It's unfortunate that some people are bashing my music just because I chose rap to express myself and raise awareness about EMS. I know that my words and message are very positive. I thank you for understanding what I tried to do. What you stated is almost exactly how I feel regarding this subject. I grew up in those tough streets of Brooklyn and not middle class, struggling to survive the harsh environment surrounding me. I was fortunate enough to escape the obstacle of traps set forth in my path. Lucky enough to go to college and get an education. I hope to reach others like me who need to know that they can also be anything they want to become and also show the public what EMS is capable of. We're not just ambulance drivers. Hi...This is Farooq creator of Call 911 FDNY and EMS ANTHEM. I ran into this post and just wanted to dispel any rumor about the FDNY funding any of my videos. Although they were very supportive of my efforts to raise awareness about and give tribute to EMS, they DID NOT fund any of my projects. These were at my own expense. Now whether you like them or not is an entirely different issue, something I won't really address. I know my intentions were positive and supportive of EMS. Take care and be safe. Farooq Muhammad

Just to clarify a little further....Call 911 was ENTIRELY funded by me and Chris Marquart and EMS ANTHEM received SOME assistance along with my money but NOT from FDNY. FDNY provided ZERO financing for these works. It was more than enough for me that the FDNY supported my effort and allowed it to be produced. I'm extremely grateful for that. My class is over, I took my final on Tuesday. I worked my butt off in that class, and enjoyed every minute of it. I got my score today, and I passed the class with an A, and my score is 101%! I am so proud of what I did, and so thankful to those of you who pushed of the importance of this class. Reading things on here, hearing EMTs and Medics talk about patients, or scenarios used to be totally confusing to me. While most still is, I finally feel I have an better understanding as to why or how when it comes to the human body and treatments. I can not tell you how many times I read something, or during lecture that something would 'click' and made sense as far as illnesses or injuries etc. It makes me feel more confident knowing this will help me in my EMT class, and be a refresher for my medic classes. I am enrolled for summer classes to take care of my math and English. I will have a 12 unit semester this fall, and will take my EMT class in January. With that class under me, I will only have 5 or so units to complete my Assoc. in Science to transfer over to CC SF when I can join the Paramedic program. I hope to pass the EMT class, become certified, work, and finish off the 5 remaining units. Then within the year, or as soon as the program opens up for enrollment in 2011, I can submit my packet, and hope to be one the ones chosen. Again, THANK YOU. I could not be more grateful.
