  1. Ok, so we attempted to do this in class and it was a disaster. Everyone tried to do it like dynamic cardiology but just verbalizing everything. So What ia a good way to prepare for the static portion??? It seems to be the one part that EVERYONE in class is really getting caught up in.

  2. Ok, there's so many things wrong with that story I don't know where to start..... First off unless you are doing CPR when they check the pulse it is impossible to have a pulse with "true" asystole. True asystole means there is no electrical activity happening in the heart and (unless you are artificially pumping the heart with CPR) the heart will not beat on it's own without an electrical impulse. So they either checked for a pulse while someone was doing CPR or there was something wrong with the monitor/s or leads or you are not getting the full story. Also you are not going to get a BP with asystole for the same reason. Next why are they treating a monitor? If you have a BP and a pulse why are they doing CPR? If the pt also sits up in between compressions and looks around that is usually a sign that he is perfusing something and not requiring CPR as well (unless it is some kind of post mortem or spinal reflex that was misinterpreted because I have heard of corpses sitting up because of the gas build up in them). You also can't pronounce someone with a pulse and a BP unless they are brain dead with lots of tests needing to be completed first. Some of the specific causes of cyanosis from the nipple line up are a hemopericardium, dissecting thoracic aortic aneurysm, traumatic asphyxiation and superior vena cava syndrome (or SVC syndrome). I am sure there are more but these are just some of the ones I could think of right now. It can also be seen with a non-traumatic cardiac arrest with no special significance attached to it. So I think there is either a lot more to this story or it has been twisted a little. Or something... If there is some interesting new condition to be learned about I am all ears and always open to learning more...

  3. I haven't had the chance to read the bill so I can't say anything to that. But, what gets me is that THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY! Why should we allow some people to break the law and yet Require all Americans to follow them. Are we advocating a lawless society?

  4. How many of the known terrorist groups listed below are Muslim? Animal Liberation Front Army of God Black Liberation Army Environmental Life Force/Earth Liberation Front Jewish Defense League Ku Klux Klan Symbionese Liberation Army Weathermen I could list a boatload more groups, but only SOME of them are Islamic in nature.... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:31, King James Bible) Noah died 350 years after the Flood, at the age of 950, the last of the immensely long-lived antediluvian Patriarchs. The maximum human lifespan, as depicted by the Bible, diminishes rapidly thereafter, from as much as 900 years to the 120 years of Moses.

  5. I have always found it interesting that we have to label people, by religion or the like. Many things have been done in the name of religion over the centuries. Christian religions are as guilty as muslims, just we now call them the Crusades. Can we call the likes of David Koresh a terrorist, dressed in religious clothing? Many of the teachings, regardless of the religion are targetet at those who are suseptable to suggestion. This is cultivated & they are groomed. Their beliefs are distorted. In many cases this is because many have poor education, with no real prospect for improvment in the future. Currently they are muslims, they could quite easily be radical Baptists, Extreemist Pentecostals, or fundamentalist Catholics. The debate here is over the construction of a building for religious purposes, not a hate tread for muslims. Regardless of who is responsible for recent terror attacks, the Crusades lasted nearly 200 years, with the sole purpose of recapturing Jerusalim & the holy land from the muslims. Does tht make ALL 'christians', regardless of denomination, as bad as ALL muslims are being made out to be?

  6. Nor would a professional FF want a Paramedic who was forced to be a FF watching his/her back in a major fire.

  7. Nor would you want a paramedic who is a fire fighter first, and doesn't give two shits to even study..........

  8. You wouldn't want a neurosurgeon who hasn't operated in a year to operate on you. You wouldn't want a car mechanic who hasn't worked on a car in over a year to work on your car. You wouldn't want a lawyer who hasn't had a case in over a year. Why would you want a "paramedic" who hasn't worked as a paramedic in over a year?

  9. Improvisitation is the difference between a shitbag medic and a doc (In the Army) 4 sam splints is what we carry in our bag. You can splint a femoral fracture with it then provide traction on the ends to splint a femoral fracture. Its the only splint we got, but when my guys knock on my door and someone broke their arm playing football, i always splint it with a SAM

  11. I think the best splint out there, is actually the only splint we use here. its the SAM splint that forms to the limb then you ace wrap it. It also easy to improvise it into a traction splint for long bone femoral fractures and whatnot.
