  1. Hello! Well, yesterday was my first day of medic class. We were told to start studying drug profiles now. I have them all listed in the back of my text book but I wanted to know if anyone had good cards to print off for ease of studying. I guess typing them out one at a time will be a good way to beging studying them!! Thanks, Nik

  3. Thanks all I took lead on the externship I had the next day and it felt really good and I got remarked that I did well just need to slow down a bit. I actually am one of the top students in my class I just have very little EMS experience so I'm still gaining my footing but hey, baby steps. The patient I had was a load and go treat on the way.

  4. As doc said, folks can give multiple answers to the same questions, depending on who's doing the asking, where, when, and how. I demonstrated this concept to one of my students, He asked a patient if they had any medical problems, and began to list possibilities- cardiac, high blood pressure, asthma, etc. The patient dutifully replied, no to all. I smiled, then asked the patient what medications he takes every day and he replied with a laundry list. My student was flustered, but wrote them all down. Then I smiled and asked the patient- already knowing the answer I would get from him: "So- you are taking all these pills for your heart, your sugar, and your asthma, why did you say you didn't have any of these problems?" The patient: -looking at me like I was a complete moron: "Because I DON'T have those problems as long as I'm taking those medications." I looked at the student, his jaw dropped and he just shook his head. It was the easiest lesson I ever taught. LOL

  5. Well it would be Don, if we did not have a corrupt wheelchair van/dialysis transport industry that is full of fraud.

  7. I agree with you. My statement about not giving a damn was directed at island, not you. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was talking to you that way. It sounds like you did the best you could. The world of medical billing is a world all of its own that even the people who make the rules don't fully understand. To expect a medic in the field (or even a doctor in the ER) to understand it is crazy. In the end, it's not you that is going to cost the pt anything, it is theirs or their family's decision.

  8. Newfoundland Humour (Newfoundland humour doesn't get better than this!) Two Newfoundlanders were sitting around talking one afternoon over a cold beer. After a while the first Newfoundlanders says to the second: 'If I was to sneak over to your house and make love to your wife while you was off hunting', and she got pregnant and had a baby, would that make us related?' The second Newfoundlanders crooked his head sideways for a minute, scratched his head, and squinted his eyes thinking real hard about the question. Finally, he says: “Well, I don't know about related but it sure would make us even.”
