  1. If you go to central booking for an internal bleed, and find a he/she with a draining boil on it's ass
  2. I have a pretty slender frame. but to stay in shape, I think I may look up some people I used to know who teach tae kwon do.
  3. what do I do? 1) clean 2) sometimes nothing, all day 3) on nice days, sometimes I take the ferry into Manhattan, and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. On a clear day, it has quite the view.
  4. you just do the best you can in the brief time. honest to God, i have gotten flagged in the ER parking lot of the hospital where I was sitting in between calls. so the transport time was like: " I'm en route to XX hospital." One second later" I'm at XX hospital" LOL
  5. Isn't " fired from a volunteer job" sort of an oxymoron in terms?
  6. MAST pants are no longer a part of the protocol in NYC. Besides, the only time I used them was in refresher.
  7. most of the ER docs around my way are pretty good too. one of them even makes a point about teaching us points about the pt's condition that are above and beyond what an EMT class would.
  8. something like that, perhaps even more during tour 2 and tour 3, when it is busier. the highest CAD # i ever saw was somewhere in the neighborhood of 5200. that was on the day of the blackout.
  9. do you work for AMR, or are you HFD?
  10. I try talk it out with people, that helps. Also, going to see a professional if you think you need it helps. i had a lot of stuff bottled up ( not just EMS related) and seeking help has made me feel much better. Going for a walk every day, which I am going to leave to do after I finish this, helps as well.
  11. EMT-D for FDNY EMS in Brooklyn NY
  12. yup, i have heard o2 referred to as the one drug you can give everyone.
  13. regular uniform during the winter can be a long sleeve button down shirt with or without a sweatshirt over it. i prefer the sweatshirt with the summer shirt underneath. in the warmer weather, we have polo-style shirts to wear.
