  1. Apparently our Patient Care Reporting software is different than yours. TX = Transport. TX'd = Transported.
  2. Ask the police.. I don't write their operate procedures..
  3. "LO" on my glucometer means less than 29mg/dl.
  4. What? Ferno is one of the oldest names in stretchers, the old ones last for decades, we still have a few that are more than thirty years old that work fine. However, older models use a spring to engage the wheel lock & drop mechanism. Sounds like you've had a spring break. Routine maintenance could prevent problems like that, but it could have been a defect. Even with all the technology they have came out with for ambulance stretchers, and how much prices on common items has come down.. No stretcher is cheap.. We just got an email asking to join into a pool of services to purchase Stryker Power stretchers for $11,850 each...for the cost, we could buy three or four new models to update our current Ferno 93's. I've had a suction unit motor blow up, AED malfunction, curb side door fall open, cot buckles fall apart, medical bag fall apart, oxygen diaphragm blow up, and we cracked the steel on our Junkin Scoop.. But nothing too bad.
  5. No, he would see some mythical native American spirit appear and guide him to medical aid..
  6. Wouldn't it be better, education wise, to attend several different courses for con-ed? I love con-ed, taking new courses, or classes we've never had before. Each state should have a list of a hundred or more courses. Often, covering stuff we already know, but you know a few providers in the classroom will have absorbed a piece of information they had forgotten.
  7. No I'm not.. I think it should be required. Just because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean I'm missing the point. Therefore, I didn't put much thought into it, because I believe any further debate would be fruitless. [spoil:9f8613064c]Whats w/ all the 404 server errors?[/spoil:9f8613064c]
  8. Never online. Esp. in a chatroom. Never be too nice, some people are sticky, they get attached and you can't get them off.
  9. I have a SAM Sling Kit, however.. The plan was, if the crew took the class that was created for its use, like a con-ed class, I'd donate it. They wouldn't take the course b/c "that's what the MAST is for". Not that its not correct to use the MAST, but a little modern thinking could do a lot of good. According to the guy who took my arm and leg as payment.
  10. that we forget what? i don't get it?
  11. Call an ambulance! Then blame their EMS educator.

    WTF????

I had a small container of radioactive material from several watches. We used it to test radiation meters to see if they were fit for use, or for shelf decoration. When we were done, just send it back to the company that sold it to us. No permits needed, no ID, no phone calls, just a Postal Money Order and an address. I supposed that it's not enough to cause any real harm, but who knows what it will do if misused or handled improperly.
  13. Open the stopcocks, inflate all at the same time. Never dusty.. Always ready to go, just like everything else.
  14. The cheapo 'nurse scope' ones w/ the thin bell cover work pretty good. Although, I like the ear pieces on my Littman Cardiology scope too.
  15. **starts rummaging through the cabinets looking for the MAST.
  16. Oh, oops. Well, here, it's what they use to involuntarily commit someone for a 72 hour psychological evaluation. A judge signs it just like any warrant, the police deliver it, and the person is usually tx'd by EMS.
  17. Get a 302 warrant and take it from there.
  18. Maybe the ambulance sank?
  19. He's obviously been out peddling campaign signs to hicks in the sticks.. B/c I've counted at least ten "Ron Paul" signs on my street alone. Just when the damn county commissioner signs were all gone, here we go again.
  20. Some EMS training, if not for the community, at least for your fellow firefighters. In the modern fire service, if a guy (or gal) only wanted to put water on fire and nothing else, they're going to be hard pressed at finding a job (or keeping that job). Nearly every firefighting course I've been through has had a unit on emergency medical care. Not only EMS, but it's intertwined with all sorts of SAR-both ground and structural, rescue, hazmat of all levels, etc. It's expected that upon arrival, there will be a suggested solution (preventing fire, injury, death, worsening) to most problems and bad situations, many of which, do not involve live fire.
  21. Yeah, I have a vision of what EMS will become... "America's Quickest Taxi Service".
  22. We don't have the time, and I'd need a sedative afterward.
  23. the whole company
  24. I seem to recall something about "First Responders for Rudy" being thrown around a few months ago. I think that under fire and police, EMS is probably tossed into the small print. A while ago, I sent a rather lengthy letter to several candidates asking for their position on "First Responders", Fire, EMS, Grants, Funding, Education, Equipment Acquisition, 'how can you, help us to help them', etc. Except for a "vote for me" pamphlet, I haven't heard from any of them. Which didn't surprise me in the least, but it was worth a try.
  25. Nay All in favor of banning Carlos (Chuckles) Norris.. Aye.. Opposed.. Nay..?
