  1. I absolutely hate the people who cannot deal with change. The ones who are fine with never moving on, upgrading equipment, etc. Mainly, my service.
  2. **chews back the vomit.
  3. I was never fond of that Texas ranger show anyway...

  7. Cost is always a factor.. But I want quality, with a good reputation, durable, and well known. Not that I won't try something new, but I like to see a warranty or guarantee from the manufacturer too.
  8. Wooden floors? I sense the need to watch my favorite episode of MASH.
  9. You're digging a hole, but you can get out at anytime you want. There are plenty of soap boxes to stack up, to aid your climb out. Just leave the hole.. Maybe someone will fall in? Job Security.
  10. Our SOP is 21 w/ two years as a licensed drive and a clean driving record to drive the ambo.
  11. To splint the lower extremities, not for shock..
  12. Conscious? Estimate of blood loss? are the limbs viable, i.e. w/ pulse/sensation, any obvious internal problems, breathing still? "Send down the MAST"
  13. If it works for them, I think it's great... Although I've seen that video dozens of times, I believe their youth squad has been around for decades.
  14. Send the guy w/ 8 hours down over, and keep the guy who knows what he's doing in the "control center". If we bring someone up even a gradual slope, there are at least three different ropes involved. Pulleys, bear claws and a bunch of other devices nailed to and wrapped around trees. I'd tie off the a large tree, since I'd be unfamiliar w/ both it and the tractor, I'd put more trust in the large tree.
  15. Panic Attack. Someone got to the 16' inflatable snowmen before she could.. After all, it's Wal-Mart.. I *used to have an elderly neighbor*, whom would begin decorating for Christmas shortly after noon on November 1st. Every Year. Back in the 80's, it was hard plastic figures, and strings of lights across open space to trees, poles, etc. It looked awesome, as a child, from a child-like point of view. However, as we moved more into the 21st century. The empty spaces started filling up with inflatable characters. Santa, a sleigh, reindeer, elves, snowmen, Disney on ice, seven dwarfs, Christmas mickey, I could go on. Soon, it became a nuisance (and a fire hazard), all one could hear outside was the hum of small fans, and who is to blame? WAL-MART. bastards
  16. Wal-Mart? They were so excited to get into Wal-Mart?
  17. We carry basic rope rescue and rigging equipment on the ambulances. We also have a rugged terrain rescue vehicle, that can be towed by the ambulance. Prolly bring a Thermal Imager w/ us to locate the victim should they be unconscious. If they are so cold that the imager cannot make out anything.. Grid search it till dawn, but by then, it will prolly be a recovery.
  18. With a soldering gun and some needle nose pliers, anything is possible.
  19. But only if the call is an emergency. If it is a non-emergency, i.e. transport/inter-facility, an EMT and EVO are fine, as long as the EMT is w/ the patient.

    Mario Game

I love Mario games, and usually that's it.. But I found this one quite time consuming.. http://www.pcgame4fun.com/play-super-mario-64.html Links to other "video" games. http://www.pcgame4fun.com/
  21. We've "held intersections" for other companies.. However, if we request assistance at an intersection, the ambulance or apparatus still must come to a stop, ease into the intersection, and make sure it's clear to proceed. At least that is the written SOP. Stop, Look, Live. No reason in the world to drop the ball on that one.
  22. We have drivers who aren't EMS trained. There are several combinations of EMTB's, EMTP's, FR's, AA's and EVO's that are acceptable. Depends on the individual call. Our EVO-Only personnel must have EVO, HIPAA and CPR. These persons are usually firemen, or fire officers. Just extra hands to have around, a trained gofer, per se. But other than lifting on scene, they have little patient contact. We run routine BLS calls w/ an EVO and an EMTB. EVO's w/ the above training and advanced first aid can be used as attendants, according to the PA EMS Act 85. I've utilized that loop hole a few times.
  23. I had versed and something they called milk, for a procedure on my Lumbar spine.. They said I kept muttering something about "Small Animal Repair".
  24. They always have some colorful excuse to get out of your "bad idea" suggestions.
