  1. That's why it's a key word search.
  2. Well then... She is one sick minded, evil, bitch.
  3. She? God is a she?
  4. Grape.. 371
  5. My county has 16 municipalities. There are no municipal police, the State Police provide 3 cars for day time and 1 for night for the whole county. There are nine fire companies, 6 ambulance services. There are four boroughs, and seven organized hamlets in townships. Only one borough had a water system, a second has a fire protection line for plugs, but no drinking water. Two hamlets have sewer systems, and three boroughs do. One boro has neither. The municipalities do not provide the main source of funding for any emergency service dept. They may get a stipend from a small fire tax. We wanted paramedics, and when it came to vote, the tax payers chose public recreation over public safety. In our case, it wasn't that they can't afford it. We know they can afford it, they just didn't want to pay for it at all. The budget figures from the fire departments indicate that none of the nine could afford to pay anyone, unless they stopped buying heating fuel, apparatus fuel and insurance.
  6. Often, even if you reassure the hell out of a patient, they get hypertensive because of their environment. Medics, needles, big words, etc. May just have been upset, some people see more medical personnel arriving or medics, and assume the worst.
  7. Good thing I'm not from Bucks Co..
  8. We're not worried about it. There is no alcohol. If there were alcohol, anything is a possibility. Not everyone that attends are fire or ems personnel. I know none of the firemen are alcoholics, at least none of the active ones. I cannot comment on any community members.
  9. IF you organize it ABCD. Airways Stuff, Oxygen Stuff, Bleeding Control and Immobilization.. Get there and the guy is looking at you, screaming and has blood spurting across the road. So, you have to dump all that shit out to get a pressure dressing. That, vs just opening a pouch on your vest or this spenac contraption. I'd get one of these doo-dads here: But I #1 Don't wanna look like a whacker and #2 Keep all my stuff in a flat bag, w/ in view and easy each. No digging, etc. Downside to Spenac Contraption... $199.95??? WTF. That's like a quarter of my pay check. Surely they can do better than that. Of course if they make one for EMS, it will automatically cost $499.95.. Just because.
  10. Maybe because they have seemed to invent bunker shorts?
  11. I dunno, I just don't get any of those effects, at all. I wonder if the plants used by others had been sprayed with something and not washed off?

  13. One thing that always pisses me off.. God saved his life, but modern medicine killed him. I keep it in my private life, but I don't think anyone should be preaching and praying in the ambulance next to a patient. Freedom of Religion goes both ways, you also are free to not practice it. A lot of people say to us "God does everything for a reason"... Well, then he must be one sick son of a b*tch!
  14. No Alcohol on the property, at any time. If a member was drinking at home, they cannot be on a call or on the property until at least 16 hours afterward. If someone smells of liquor or beer, unless they work as a bartender, they are suspended for 30 days. Alcohol use on the grounds is a 60 day suspension. We have a company picnic and dinners, but they are also dry, there are children there. We don't want their mommy or daddy driving them home drunk. What kind of example does it set if you have firemen drinking and responding to emergencies? Billy Goldfeder will be all over that on his secret list. No smoking in the building either, it's 115 years old, don't need it burning down. It'll do that on its own some day.
  15. You could completely cut out the need for an ambulance. Put all crews on roller skates, and add stretcher bearer straps to that contraption. Just need a pole stretcher and you're all set!
  16. Ask a lawyer.. or start making up your own patients.
  17. I was right about the police & fire, in my state. However, I made a mistake, it's not for the entire United States. Seems like it would make sense, but politicians don't fiddle around with common sense. Having Google'd for that info, I couldn't go back and change it as per the 90 minute rule. I'm not offended. I'd have to respect and value a persons opinions in order to be offended by them. Though, I thank you for your overly obsessive commentary and not letting me forget my egregious error.
  18. Any kind, as long as it's blue.
  19. I'm not offended. I was just thinking about something. Heh.
  20. I wouldn't fight about it anyway. Maybe I should have posted that I think this should be a law. I thought it was.. I was wrong. Oh well, I won't lose any sleep over it. Back on subject now.. I get paid to find old crap, mark it on a map, take pictures of it and compare it to photos from the 19th century.
  21. I knew that would happen. You read that line, and then stopped. It doesn't say every municipality needs an ambulance. Every municipality needs the coverage of police/fire/ambulance. You can have one, you can have a contract with one, or you can have a mutual aid agreement. Not that every town needs their own. You're on the internet, go look it up yourself. You read it differently than it was typed, which isn't my problem. I could be wrong, it might be just for Pennsylvania. I recall reading wording, to the effect of "every municipality needs to provide proof they are covered by contract or mutual aid agreement, a police dept/fire dept/ambulance service." This while discussing who would take over an area of coverage, that nobody wanted.
  22. We always offer the patient, power of at., etc. if they would like a copy of anything they are to sign. We also offer a copy after they have signed it, or the chance to read it over then either mail it to us, or have the ER clerk put it in our "in box" at the billing office. As for the PCR, I don't have anything to hide, they can read it. If they rip it up, or won't give it back, I'll just write it again. Only patient I won't let read the PCR, is a behavioral. I'll give them one w/ their name, etc, but write out the narrative on another. Wouldn't want anyone that is ready to kill me, to think I've wronged them. I can always write more on at the ER if necessary.
  23. All of them rip you off.. Go with some small time supplier or wholesale, or to a fishing/hunting supply store. While I don't have one, I've seen them at a local outdoors retailer "Gander Mtn". They were a lot less than the list prices from most EMS Suppliers. The small suppliers usually have the lowest prices, you just have to find one that sells these cases. I'd suggest Emergency Medical Products, if I had to choose one, though. Google it.
  24. Ehhhhh.. Really, the only difference I've noticed is time. Hospitals, advanced care, etc, are farther away. People put themselves farther away, then blame everyone else when their house burns down, or their spouse dies before EMS arrives. The reason we're not paid, people are cheap. They want better roads and parks; and don't care about EMS till they need it personally. The fire depts here will always be volunteer, their call volume doesn't warrant any change. They have no problems getting out, their dedication and time spent on their organization have earned them modern and better equipment than most small cities. EMS on the other hand, consolidation is what will make the difference. Consolidation and modernizing rural EMS systems would be better, for everyone, all around. There would be no downside, other than hurt feelings, and they'll get over it eventually. If we didn't volunteer, they would have to provide EMS some way. It's the law. Every municipality in the United States must have a fire dept, an ambulance service and a police dept, to cover them. Whether it is by providing their own, contract or mutual aid. Someone, would have to do it. EMS is a necessity. It would be taken care of, no matter what. I'm not saying they could do a better job than you, but there would be some alternative on hand.
