Take an old single tube BP cuff. Take off the manometer, just add a bulb. Keep a curved hemostat with it, b/c IMO, they're stronger than straight. Inflate it till the bleeding stops, clamp it. You've got yourself a pneumatic tourniquet. Nice thing is, you can wash it and reuse it.

Take a standard first aid course.

Pardon my, perhaps ignorance, I'm not entirely familiar with EMS in Canada. I only know what our Canadian counterparts tell us, b/c really all I read into was the roots of their EMS systems, per se. I was under the impression that all emergency response - ambulance services in Canada were gov't. owned and operated?

He's gonna sell a gun. One of those being sued should make a stipulation that the Review-Journal have to shut down and remove its website.. So nobody can make a track back to it. You can't infringe upon what's not there. I agree, they are probably hurting, economically, and see this as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

You can carry and use Epi-Pens. There's a form on the EMS website to fill out for medical command to sign, and a two hour course. You carry two adult and two pedi, or one of each in twinject. That's been in the BLS Protocols for several years. The pilot program was held here just before I took the course b/c of the distance to hospitals.

I have no idea, it was installed on a computer owned by a fire officer. Our station computer wasn't compatible.

Wow.. The worst time to tip your stretcher over... in front of a camera. I recall an accident, we had two units on scene, another service had two. They picked someone up, on a board, no straps... and the patient slid off. We had to put the patient on our bench seat, b/c they refused to go with that crew. Never seen anyone actually dropped though.

I'm sure planes that land here deal with deer, and everything else. There's no fence around the air field, and it's just that.. a field. It has a hangar, runway lights, and a wire rope to keep cars off. But it's a simple grass landing strip. Must be important, b/c it's on MS Flight Simulator. Had a few crashes there, but none involving wildlife, yet.

You can get it on eBay.. It's perfectly legal to purchase the software. Just like any frequency, if you're using it, either you-or the people you're using it for, better have a license allocation. Certain freqs don't require a license, but most do. We purchased the software, cable and bases to program our Minitor IV and V pagers; Motorola Mobile's and Kenwood Portables from Keystone Communications in N'umberland.

Gave it to a patient, a month into having this brand new Ford-Horton, upon direction from medical command and poison control. That stuff is like ink. In keeping with the contingency, seven years later when we sat in the back of the ambulance, cleaning it out for a brand new unit. I looked up at the textured ceiling, and the call came back to my mind. The patient vomited b/c of it's taste, and it splattered all over the interior, and once it dried, this dark gray stain was permanent. PA has since made it an optional item, and we removed it, ALS still carries it.
