  1. I don't believe there are leads involved, it's likely similar technology to a pulse ox, where you put a finger or fingers on a small sensor. I know with hand-held EKG's, if you move at all, it looks like you're on death's doorstep.
  2. Yes, Playmobil does.. I used to have those things. Like boxes full.. I appreciated the fact that it was a well equipped, toy ambulance, as a prewackerchild. Except we don't cast limbs on scene.
  3. That isn't from one of those devices you can buy for $50 on eBay, is it? I know many doctors that will tell patients the worst thing they can do is self diagnose with home medical books, electronic BP cuffs - we've all had calls b/c they were drastically wrong. I can't see personal ECG's being any different. If the doctor is deeply concerned, they should go through proper measures.
  4. They look like Playmobil people, actually.
  5. Where do I get my fake medical degree?
  6. The only issue I have with online videos to learn by, is you can't ask a question, when you have one.
  7. I call the local Area Agency on Aging when we have elder folks who live alone, and can't walk, but the home isn't equipped for them to be unable to ambulate. My concern is egress method in a fire, etc. At least suggest they get a Link to Life, Life Line, et al.. eg. an "I've fallen and can't get up" alarm. Not just for falls, feels ill, can't call, push the button. I know your issue isn't the same, but they may be able to sign up for some sort of program where someone comes to check on them on weekdays. Like Meals on Wheels. They may not like that idea, but I did that, and one of our chief objectives was to check their well being and mental status. Out here in the sticks, where you may not have a next door neighbor for a couple miles, it's a worthy service to those who live alone. And it's not just for the elderly, it's for anyone disabled, ill, etc that qualifies.
  8. Sling some tires over the front like old Land Rover ambulances, give them a love tap and pit.
  9. I have the new one, in the plastic first aid kit looking box. Xmas gift from mom.. She gets me goofy stuff like that.
  10. I know several paramedics that are in their early 60's.. and EMT's in their late 70's. Met one guy that took the class at 76. If they're physically able to do it, why stop them? They're never alone, and they don't drive, the extra hands are welcome, and the Autopulse prevents the need for them to do CPR.
  11. I wanna be a doctor.. like a surgeon, general surgery. But I don't wanna go to medical school, at all, I wonder if they have an online school for that? Yanno, just watch videos of the people doing the hands on work.
  12. Our regional office put out an email with the info about the online viewing, which came from the Commonwealth EMS Bureau. It was very touching. After having a Fire Dept. LODD, it is very hard keeping dry eyes b/c you just don't realize how much these folks mean, till they're gone, suddenly. I'm sure it will turn up online somewhere, perhaps check on the JEMS Website, or National EMS Memorial
  13. I've purchased equipment from Remote Med, but never looked into it any farther. Our WEMT course was sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania at Pittsburgh. I'm pretty sure it was a WEMSI course, b/c that's where the card came from. I wish they had a short refresher, b/c it's just too expensive to take the course twice. Gives a lot of supplemental knowledge, so you can better utilize your outside of the box thinking. Better if you take the advanced course. But you have to be in an area with set protocols, so you aren't acting under your state protocols, and thus violating the Scope of Practice. Most places where you would use WEMT, however, you don't need to worry about fine lines.
  14. If you want bad weather, prime hunting, and good fishing... Pennsylvania, New York, Maine or Montana are good choices. I wanna buy the city!
  15. eBay. Just don't tell them it's an e-city. Like they didn't let on that the one in Calif. actually wasn't owned by them, and only consisted of a single block. City, in the 19th Century meaning.
  16. You should try to have a conversation with an Appalachian American. They have a dialect and culture all to their own, it can be both frightening and entertaining.
  17. This chicken is amazing, I should really give you the BBQ Basting recipe! It's the best!
  18. Posted another one.. But I still have that stretcher.
  19. How about the option for sponsor members to turn off reputation? Oh.. and the Classified Ads page doesn't like any uploaded pictures, no matter how small or large. Just FYI. I had to link one, after retyping, b/c it also won't all one to delete the file link.
  20. I got one.. When it's stolen from the service you work for.
  21. The odor of the fluid, which purges from the human body, just after it turns black and the organs explode.
  22. (Open the link in the previous post, and click on the image) See that knob on the small white and green panel? That's the emergency bypass valve. Open it, and the electric oxygen switch doesn't need to be used. Great for firefighter rehab. Doors, open, cool breeze, ambulance off-no exhaust... Open the valve, and work as if the unit were running. Flow meter, aspirator volume control, emergency bypass valve.
  23. I thought of that stuff when I seen the topic, I was just watching that movie on Com. Cen.
