So do I! You spelled your name wrong.

This is a video from an archival website. Mostly, they have old fire service footage, but there are a few with ambulances. This one, though, is kind of graphic. It's probably not work safe, though it's all medical footage. May not be appropriate for children.. It's a training film for California Highway Patrol from 1966, titled, Sudden Birth. CHP 1966 - Sudden Birth Also to mention, the big push for high visibility markings for emergency vehicles now... and look at the back of their unit Pre-EMS!

Just watch.. If he's on comp b/c of that, they'll say that he can work with the injury and get denied any further care, etc. That's how it works for those who try to do good. They get screwed by the system.

Why are you in the garden anyway, Turnips are out of season.

I actually got a headache trying to figure out what this says. It's like reading a science fiction novel. http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20091224/sc_space/fluffymysteryatedgeofsolarsystemsolved Fluffy Mystery at Edge of Solar System Solved SPACE.com * SPACE.com Staff SPACE.com Space.com Staff space.com – Thu Dec 24, 8:45 am ET Our solar system is passing through a cloud of interstellar material that shouldn't be there, astronomers say. And now the decades-old Voyager spacecraft have helped solved the mystery. The cloud is called the "Local Fluff." It's about 30 light-years wide and holds a wispy mix of hydrogen and helium atoms, according to a NASA statement released today. Stars that exploded nearby, about 10 million years ago, should have crushed the Fluff or blown it away. So what's holding the Fluff in place? "Using data from Voyager, we have discovered a strong magnetic field just outside the solar system," explained Merav Opher, a NASA Heliophysics Guest Investigator from George Mason University. "This magnetic field holds the interstellar cloud together ["The Fluff"] and solves the long-standing puzzle of how it can exist at all." The Fluff is much more strongly magnetized than anyone had previously suspected," Opher said. "This magnetic field can provide the extra pressure required to resist destruction." Opher and colleagues detail the discovery in the Dec. 24 issue of the journal Nature. NASA's two Voyager probes have been racing out of the solar system for more than 30 years. They are now beyond the orbit of Pluto and on the verge of entering interstellar space. During the 1990s, Voyager 1 became the farthest manmade object in space. The Voyager craft, racing in opposite directions, have revealed among other things that the bubble around our solar system is squashed. "The Voyagers are not actually inside the Local Fluff," Opher said. "But they are getting close and can sense what the cloud is like as they approach it." The Fluff is held at bay just beyond the edge of the solar system by the sun's magnetic field, which is inflated by solar wind into a magnetic bubble more than 6.2 billion miles wide (10 billion km). Called the "heliosphere," this bubble protect the inner solar system from galactic cosmic rays and interstellar clouds. The two Voyagers are located in the outermost layer of the heliosphere, or "heliosheath," where the solar wind is slowed by the pressure of interstellar gas. Voyager 1 entered the heliosheath in December 2004. Voyager 2 followed in August 2007. These crossings provided key data for the new study. Other interstellar clouds might also be magnetized, Opher and colleagues figure. And we could eventually run into some of them. "Their strong magnetic fields could compress the heliosphere even more than it is compressed now," according to NASA. "Additional compression could allow more cosmic rays to reach the inner solar system, possibly affecting terrestrial climate and the ability of astronauts to travel safely through space."

Indian Tank. I prefer galvanized, but the rubbery vinyl ones are okay. Not in turnout gear though, there are different types of gear.. Extrication, wild land, structural, ARFF, etc. I've seen what happens when people wear structural fire gear, to a large brush fire. I'm good with work boots, cotton jeans and a long sleeve shirt myself, and really, I'd rather take a Pulaski or a rake. It's more common to see urban and suburban firefighters wearing Structural gear to rubbish or small brush fires. It's a sure ticket to heat exhaustion.. and tall boots on rugged terrain is a sure ticket for an ankle fx.

I recall, in the summer of 2002 I believe, we purchased like 80 tee shirts from them. They had some sort of FDNY Firefighters Widows fund, and half of the cost of one shirt would go to them. Minimum order was 20, but we went to every station in the county with order forms. I'm pretty sure it came from Fire Zone.

That has to be it! "Oh look, he posted something questionable on FB, finally, we can fire him to keep this workplace Latino free!" No other way to win the case, lets try to make it about race! Alright, hip-hip-hooray for the race card.

State Fire Commissions, etc. have Death Benefit funds, National Fallen Firefighter Foundation, US Fire Administration, Worker's Compensation, A Fire Agency's insurance. They can provide trust funds for small children, scholarships for grown children, widow funds, pay for the funeral, lost wages of family, etc..

[NEWS FEED] St. Paul Honors Underprivileged EMTs
Chief1C replied to News's topic in Welcome / Announcements
So you can only be underprivileged if you're black or female? -
What amazes me, is, that people actually get paid to figure these things out.

If they're on a union, chances are, they have a meal break.

Any fatal injury or illness that occurs during or on duty of an emergency call, or within 24 hours of a call (where no symptoms were reported prior to sudden onset) is a line of duty death. Even if he had a heart attack while eating at the firehouse, on the clock, it would be a duty death. The death benefit doesn't make them millionaires. It's like a life insurance policy, they get x amount, once, it doesn't recur. If he died of something he contracted while on duty, they should get the death benefit funding.

It's all very interesting

That's freaky. Like House MD, freaky. I read this on JEMS I think, or maybe Firefighter Close Calls. I forget which, anyhoo.. I'd like to follow up on it, so we all can be sure to not do, whatever it is that he did.

Watch them try to pull some "Union Mandated Break" BS.

Nothing, I just thought it would be a fun gift to give someone. I'm crafty like that, only usually I give ppl things that make sense.

Looks like a severe head bleed and brain matter, IMO.

Okay.. Unless the boy's father is her dad, then I'm assuming he got the beer from a cooler belonging to his grandfather.

Already drinking and wearing women's clothes at four. That's great, that's just fricken great. I can hear the conversation now... "and this is your mommy when he was four, see his pretty dress?"

Post the tackiest or oddest knick-knack or 'stocking stuffer' you've ever been given.. Or.. post the weirdest thing you've ever given to someone else. In my senior year of High School, we did a Secret Santa type deal in my literature course. You had to get someone something odd, or off the wall. Forgetting about it till the last minute, I had the bus drop me off at the general store near the school. I bought a can of clam juice, a roll of butcher's twine and a pack of toothpicks, and had them gift wrap it... I added a note that said MacGyver could figure this out, can you?
