    nextel

I have a Sprint/Nextel hybrid phone. Best of both worlds.
  2. My constructive contribution is what I'd tell the management that suggested this policy. Not directed at you. My bad.
  3. I did, when I finally found a glove brand that was better than what the company started (eventually) giving out. Then I realized that the principle was more important, so I became a gigantic pain in the ass to management. Sometimes I got everything I needed, sometimes not. Fortunately I only worked weekdays, because the supply closet got locked when the boss' nephew left Friday afternoon and wouldn't be reopened until at least Monday morning. The only other key was in the alarmed inner office, and THAT stayed alarmed till Monday when the billing girls came in. Not that the supervisor on duty had the authority to use the key even then. Had to be Ops or the nephew (who was the handyman). Fortunately I don't work there anymore. At my part time gig, if I need something, and officer comes and unlocks the closet. At my full time job, I have the key.
  4. *Cartman voice* "Screw you guys, I'm goin back to the dead body!!!"
  5. If the service takes the ambulance out of service, it's no longer an ambulance. Ergo the quoted regs don't apply. I also would think even the Mass. DOH would have better things to do than ding a service over a member's funeral.
  6. What the hell's a stretcher scale? I didn't know people consider this scenario hell- it was my daily life for 4 years. Best I ever got was dialysis centers that used scale-equipped electric sling lifts for SOME of our patients- no lifting. The dialysis centers we didn't mind going to were the ones that didn't trust us to take an accurate measurement, so they did it themselves. Right behind them were the ones that weighed the patients after the patient was in the dialysis chair, so we only had to move them once.
  7. Me: "Can you tell Dispatch I'm not ready for calls yet? I need gloves- there are ZERO gloves on this truck, and since the new memo says I could be fired for taking equipment from another truck, I guess that means I'll need some from the supply closet." Ops: "Just steal a box from the nursing home or hospital on your first run." Me: "Ok, and what happens when my first call is a private address pickup?" Ops: ".............................." *throws up his hands and walks away.*
  8. Akroeze and I briefly discussed the situation while in Ohio. I told him that if you guys aren't careful, you'll turn into the Italians.
  9. Sox fans don't bite. Honest.
  10. Yeah, and BEMS Chief Richard Salinas was ON the committee- but flew home before the report was released and wouldn't allow his name to included in it. Speaks volumes to me.
  11. Looks like I'm the first one home (or at least home and posting). The whole experience was amazing. All the instructors were increadibly nice and eager to teach (and many were downright hot!). The stations were relevant, educational, cutting-edge (literally and figuratively) and simply mind-blowing in many cases for a dumb 'ol EMT-C like myself. With any luck, it won't be a once in a lifetime experience! I'll tell you this much- it's an educational opportunity worth WAY more than 20 bucks! Even if my airfare had cost more (thanks for the miles dad!) it STILL would have been more than worth it. Meeting Dust, Jake, Akroeze, Doczilla, BE, and Anthony was a trip too. I'll leave it at that. Thanks for a great time everybody!
  12. This idiot was elected on a platform of SEPARATING Fire and EMS.
  13. Sorry, my irony alarm just exploded.
  14. If I ever get one, I figure in a pinch I'll use a 9-foot backboard strap.
  15. Our protocols have very specific circumstances for Epi drips, all requiring medical control contact, and none involving cardiac arrest.
  16. Dude, you're getting worked up over the semantics in a newspaper article. I know the distinction is important to us but to an English (or worse, Journalism) major they mean about the same.
  17. Thursday flight out is 13:31.
  18. Excellent, thanks. For my next trick, figuring out how to get from the hotel to the airport on Thursday. Think I'll call Red Roof and see if there's a shuttle or anything.
  19. There's like 5 or 6 hotels within a mile of the school. I still need a room for the second and third.
  20. Show-offs. Ok, so if you're in there both nights, it'd probably be easiest for you to book the room and I pay you.
  21. A horrible thought I had today- I was under the impression that the lab is the same both days, so I only registered (and booked my flights accordingly) for one day. Did I totally eff it up? RE: hotel, sounds good!
  22. He should probably take ASA, NTG, and O2 away as well, because they might change the 12-lead he orders at the hospital. Pre-hospital needle decompression would undoubtedly affect the CXR, better deep-six that as well.
  23. Arriving the 2nd, lab 3rd, leaving the 4th. Anybody for a split?
  24. Would you let them take it?
