My wifes arthritis improved when she went on a gluten free diet. Might be worth a shot for a month or two and if it helps stick with it.

Many college Paramedic courses actually offer an EMT-B course in the first semester then you start the rest. There is no point in stopping your education, just go on straight to Paramedic. If EMT-I is not required no point in stopping for it. There is nothing of real value to be gained by remaining an EMT-B. If you are not planning to work in the field but just want a good first aid to help an injured student or family member then just a first responder course. This would give you enough idea of what to do while you wait for the professionals.

If as with the c-section you are familiar with the procedure and medical control says do it, then by all means. Again if you do nothing patient dies, just as if I do not do c-section my patient dies.

NREMT=Entry level minimum standard. If you can not pass entry level exam it is time to move on.

EMT Basic is just a slightly more than boy scout first aid course. In fact you will find many places that teach it in about a 2-3 week time span. Really no way for it to be an in depth medical education. It is a requirement though in every state I am aware of before getting your Paramedic. But as Dust mentioned get it anywhere then focus on finding a quality Paramedic Degree program.

I really think those that disagree with our being willing to save the baby under doctors orders just think that we plan to go whittle on every patient we get. There were a very tight group of reasons why we are willing to extricate the baby from its dead mode of transportation. I hate that what was really a productive discussion went the way of everyone bashing those with different opinions.

I am sorry. The first death that we feel maybe we could have done something else hurts. I have been there. Do not beat yourself up. You did what you thought was right by allowing the more experienced medic to take the lead. Never second guess yourself or you will not last long. Look back and QA/QI yourself then move on. Next time you will probably do something different but sadly even then at times our patients die. In the 90 mile transport to our nearest hospital I have been the last person many of my patients ever saw, and everyone of them I know I did what I thought was best for them at that moment. When I look back to long I beat myself up, so I learned to do a quick review and then move forward. I am sorry not much help.

These guys would never survive in my world. You are it there are not 100 paramedics coming to help you take care of that stubbed toe that you are to uneducated to take care of. Makes me sick, if you where the patch you should be able to do the job, if not they should take the patch away. Sorry this annoys the hell out of me seeing tax payers getting robbed because idiots get and get to keep patches.

I like the fast charge, but I think I'll just keep extra batterys with me till the price comes down. Plus if I need the flashlight probably have no way to recharge at the moment anyway.

If the lady is dead not like you can do any harm by trying. If you do nothing baby joins mother in death. Would my attempt be as neat and pretty as the docs? Probably not but I don't have to worry as she will not need her body anyway as she's dead. My job is to help the living and if the baby is alive in a dead mother I need to extricate the baby.

I say forget what anyone thinks of you. If you can talk the talk and walk the walk do it. If people are intimidated because you know your profession and are great at it tuff. I know I'm good and I'm proud of it. I do not treat people that do their job badly. Those that choose to be lazy I have no problems ignoring. Those that do their best we get along just fine. Oh and believe it or not I am well liked at work. The ones people hate being around are the ones that talk the talk but can not walk the walk.

Electing rather than promoting your leaders really gives vollys a bad name. The best leader should lead not the best bud.

Save the baby, deal with the legal later. Get jury full of mothers and get off scott free.
