  1. And can be that way in EMS. http://www.911sono.com/ems_ultrasound_homepage.htm
  2. I'm sorry. I'm dissapointed in me as well. But for a positive point I did try and get the discussion back on track.
  3. If you do a ride out as suggested please make sure it is with an EMS service that is respected by EMS Professionals so that you do not see the wrong way of doing things and hurt the image of our profession more than it already has been. Shows like Saved, Third Watch did not accurately portray a professional system.
  4. If you take a college Paramedic Degree program if your income is low enough there are many loans and grants to cover education and even living expenses. The financial aid department at the college will be your best help.
  5. Probably the only parents that have not allowed their baby to sleep with them are rich people with hired help that raise the kids. In this case she probably had no idea just how hard the medicine would make her sleep. Now someone mentioned a similar case of the dad accidentally killing the child. That brings up the double standard that sadly takes place in courts daily. If he did nothing illegal and it was an accident he should not have been prosecuted even if the mother demanded it. There can not be a double standard. Both the father and mother need to have equal rights from conception on.
  6. Then IMHO she probably thought she would not hear the baby if placed in another room or bed. So wanting to make sure she could take care of her baby she did what many a parent has done placed the child in bed with her. Sadly her choice cost the child its life and I'm sure even if the law did nothing the mother has punished herself more than any court could.
  7. No problem, happens to us all. Pedi calls are the toughest. Was the mother on current prescription for the hydrocodone or illegally taking it? If legally taking it perhaps better judgement could have been used but would just be tragic accident. If illegal it is murder in my opinion. When you decide to do anything illegal and something bad occurs because of your choice IMHO you are guilty and should be punished.
  8. edited as OP changed topic.
  9. Hey guys don't let Dust fall asleep on the cadaver tables. Hate to learn he was dissected.
  10. Good questions to ponder. We should be able to do more than spot a STEMI, but how much more? Electrolyte abnormalities is very important especially in areas with long transports to the hospital. The better we can interpret the more respect we gain, and even the more job possibilitys for our profession grows.
  11. Finally those two are banned. Now what name will they reappear under? 12 lead is an important tool for pre Hospital Medical Professionals. If you are a Paramedic and can't use it properly I challenge you to spend the time to learn it and be there to provide real help to your patients.
  12. Sadly its his imaginary friend. And both personalitys obviously could not cut it as EMT's or FF's.
  13. You are not allowed to deny transport you just pass the buck to a lower level of care. I have the right to make a medical exam and then say no ambulance period. Oh hell your a worthless piece of crap that has no business in EMS or even fire. In fact you are a disgrace to my fire fighter brothers. I will not bite my tongue and if admin chooses to ban me for it so be it. People such as yourself are a disgrace to humans a whole. You are proof that natural selection does not work. I am ashamed that some of your fellow ff's have not taken you and tossed out with the days garbage. Yes I disagree with fire having anything to do with EMS but you do not even qualify to be a FF wantabe. In fact you probably can not get a job as a FF or EMT so now you choose to come here in one of your many names and disgrace both professions. Heck next we'll see you on law enforcement making ridiculous bull crap statements. Yes you win I now am hot so you did you part, you have made me stoop to your level. If admin chooses to keep pieces of crap such as you on this site I really do not want to be a part of it.
  14. You are not worth wasting time with. Have a nice day. Ok I do have to say this before I wave good bye to you. I to only have to work 10 days. I only do 911's. I do not do transfers. I do not fight fires and in fact am no longer in the fire service as they choose not to put patient care first. My pay when factoring in cost of living comes out way above you California dreamers.
  15. To be topless wouldn't she be a liberal?
  16. Man I hope that is just a poor attempt at sarcasm. If not please immediately remove yourself from my profession. We should be pre Hospital Medical Professionals not taxi drivers.
  17. Perhaps. Lets just hope we can help this young person break down the barrier. Based on her partners statements she is good so if we can add some compassion she just might be great.
  18. Maybe she can't think about that as it was a deep question.
  19. Sorry spoke w/o thinking. Didn't mean to ruin the scenario.
  20. As babbies but then they seem to get stronger and leaner when older.
  21. I wonder what ever could you mean? :-k
  22. Workers comp does pay when your on call and get hurt at your home. Happened here at my part time to one of our medics, broke his ankle at home, was paid all medical and 70% of his average pay per week. We stay the whole 24 at our own houses then drive to the station if 911 comes in.
  23. So on a a slow day pay sucks. If you ran the whole 24 your rich. But if they have that style they probably realize you will not run much.
  24. Several types are employed by small 911 services and even many private transfer services. It is a way of skirting labor laws to have more ambulances available w/o overhead of labor unless they roll. The services claim you are free to do what you want till called, but require usually 5 minute response time so really you have no freedom during your "free" time. Here are 2 examples: Scheduled 24 hours. Only paid first 16 hours. Then the final 8 hours you are only paid for actual time on the ambulance. So if no runs no pay for the final 8. Scheduled 48 hours. First 24 hours paid. Second 24 hours only paid actual time on the ambulance. No runs no pay so your hourly wage was cut in half.
