  1. I hope you are being sarcastic. I am not a taxi driver I am a medical professional. Any that do not want to do anything but drive need to get out of my profession. Do a complete exam.
  2. I must have missed something as I do not see where the OP said they did not transport. And my comment said the extra minute which honestly it's less than that. But I'm sure I missed the not transported statement some where. Sorry in advance.
  3. Wish more of the safety features were required on ambulances. Heck I wish we could actually redesign ambulances with safety being first priority. It's funny the frst rule of EMS is my safety yet our ambulances have such huge unsafe design flaws its a joke. At least in the USA maybe other countrys require actual safety as a priority.
  4. I see no problem spending an additional minute on scene to get a twelve lead. If bleed is bad enough ischemia may already show up in 12 lead. Perhaps the original complaint was not cardiac in nature but it could be progressing to a point that it will be. As to cost. Really not that much, instead of the 3 or 4 for your 3 lead you use 10 electrodes so even if a dollar a piece wow it added 6 or 7 dollars to the cost of care. Not that much in the long run and especially if you catch something and keep patient from crashing. A complete exam is the best exam.
  5. You two should be ashamed. There are no BS patients only BS EMTS and vent people. Sorry couldn't resist. Please forgive me.
  6. If we could take a vote for best joke of 2008 this would be it.
  7. I work for a system part time that we could use the EKG and print a strip as basics, heck even as first responders. But we were 90 miles or more out to the nearest hospital and I was the highest level that patient would see till the hospital. We were taught to identify a few things but primarily it was just to help us monitor patients rate and regularity rather than to make any medical decisions. As to hospital some docs looked at our strip some didn't. Some docs and nurses tried the its out of your scope of practice so I'm reporting you and I had to go get my protocol book and show them I had written orders to do it. Really if you are within 30 minutes of the hospital I feel you are just doing a monkey skill that does not benefit anyone. Even with the distance I had for the most part thats all we were doing. So my vote is no real benefit. Sorry. I guess it could have placebo effect on patient making them think you actually know what you are doing.
  8. Texas is the place for me. But sadly some services in Texas suck to. But I can't tell you who I might need a paycheck.
  9. Those are nice but often they forget to update.
  10. Why not? They're not just for the OD. If your partner bagged them wrong and filled the abd with air ng tube helps remove it thus avoiding gastric spewage.
  11. lol now thats there is funneee. My score was sucky.
  12. That was embarrassing. But they are still better than Penn. I hate the sooners but after the whipping they gave us I think they can win the title.
  13. Thats good thinking. AEDs are getting cheaper and maybe insurance would cover if prescribed.
  14. I was going to welcome you but your friends with brian. 17 or 25?
  15. Ruff sorry about the hard time. Hope your family the best. As I am not familiar with this I'm going to let the others come up with information. Hang in there, your EMS family is pulling for you.
  16. Sadly this is the person that partners with one of our regulars that just made paramedic and works in Arizona. Hopefully this attitude doesn't rub off.

  19. Sporty the reason I am supplying links rather than direct answers is you learn more when you do research. A good EMS program will require extensive research. If you put forth effort you retain more. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tuberculo...N=complications http://www.dhpe.org/infect/tb.html Research. Easy as google, just be careful of some sites such as wikipedia.
  20. They are not dumb questions. They do illustrate though how little education is actually given in an EMT- Basic class. To help you with your education here are a couple of links. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/tuberculosis.html http://www.medicinenet.com/tuberculosis/article.htm http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tuberculosis/DS00372 http://www.who.int/tb/en/
