Go here for some scenarios, better than playing a bad game. http://www.geocities.com/nyerrn/simulators.htm#acls

If it is true it is a totally BS lawsuit. If I remove your clothes in order to save your life, I think you can get over the embarrassment of someone seeing your nipples. Have you ever noticed when doing real "life saving" you don't notice anything about whether your patients "hot" or not. Surely the patient lost if it was true. I mean holy crap did her boobs end up bouncing on u tube during CPR. Get over it, your alive. But again this is probably just another unproven EMS myth.

I'm mixed. Risked her and bystanders life=bad. Saved a potential fire victim=good. Sadly I have looked back at times after the fact and gone how stupid, thankfully I got away with it and the person being helped was helped. I do try to live by the rule I have to stay alive first for my family, second so I can help more than the one patient, but I guess at times we just act and hopefully it works out. How come I never get a reward for my stupidity that works out?

NREMT-P test on Monday and Nervous
spenac replied to AMESEMT's topic in NREMT - National Registry of EMT's
If you could write down every question and send it to me would be a big help. Hope you the best. An approach that has always worked for me is to go in with the attitude this is my first attempt, so if I fail it was just a way for me to get familiar with how the exam process works. So far I have never had to retest in any of the many professional exams I have taken. Please remind me of this in a few months when I get to test. -
FD Launches In-House Paramedic Education Program

Hey don't forget to go to the 2 sites on page 1 and voice your concerns. Of course they will probably get deleted there like mine did. I was even nice and polite but because I expressed an anti- Fire message mine were deleted. In fact here they are to make it easier: http://www.emsresponder.com/article/articl...p;siteSection=1 http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/...ass-in-session/ -
I very often to 120 on then get anywhere from a week to 2 weeks off. Again slow service. In busy services with no rest I don't feel it's safe to do more than 12 hours.

Based on the reviews it sucks if you have any medical knowledge. Sounds like has many errors in treatments.

So this leads me to ask, EMT Basics are you smarter than a 7 year old? My new T-shirt - "EMT Basic - So easy a 7 year old can do it". Interesting looking product. We have a couple other people on the site that have designed or improved existing products. Maybe you guys should get together to defray expenses of pushing these items.

Guns don't kill 12 y/o Trick or treaters....People do....
spenac replied to akflightmedic's topic in Archives
"An ex-convict who thought he was being robbed gunned down a 12-year-old trick-or-treater, spraying nearly 30 rounds with an assault rifle from inside his home after hearing a knock on the door, police said Saturday." "He told police he had been robbed and shot in the past year. "He wasn't going to be robbed again, and he wasn't going to be shot again," Patterson said Saturday at a news conference." "Patterson said Patrick had multiple drug convictions but police do not believe he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the shooting. Guns don't kill 12 y/o Trick or treaters....People do....
spenac replied to akflightmedic's topic in Archives
Lets wait to hear his excuse before we say there is no excuse. Unless you were there you do not know why he felt he had to pull the trigger. Odds are there is no real excuse but do not judge w/o all the facts. -

Perhaps he was in fear for his life. Perhaps he had been threatened earlier. To open the door when expecting a person that threatened you would be stupid. So perhaps at the knock he decided to defend himself thinking it was the bad guy. Don't judge till we have all the facts. It is sad that a young person died. -
Ron White that theres funny I don't care who you are. OK enough blue comedy tour. I agree though there are some bad nursing homes, when my grandmother got to where she needed 24 care we started looking and some nursing homes are just disgusting. Might have 1 nurse or nurses aid per 20-30 patients. Then we found one that almost seemed to have more nurses or nurses aids than patients. Very clean, did not stink of urine/feces or air freshener to cover stench. They had bird cages, fish tanks, cats and dogs in the inner court yard, food was excellent. Mind you these were us just popping in, we did not call first. Now the problem, cost per month was way above what Grandmothers social security and medicare covered. Well we found away and she lived very happy life there for several years. One of us visited almost every day and she was always well taken care of. Now move forward several years since she died and a big company bought ought the nursing home. Now it is one of the filthiest. In fact it barely was allowed to remain open after last inspection. What can we do? Be there for the patients. Its sad that the facilitys that are bad stay around. But its even sadder that often no family ever comes and checks on their elderly family members. If I would have ever found grandmother in the state I have found several patients, there would have been heads rolling then and there. OK so it's agreed there are scum nursing homes, scum doctors, scum nurses, scum paramedics, scum fire fighters, scum hospitals, scum vent techs  , and there are some good ones to of all the above.

Our pay is entire 24 plus overtime. None of that crap of 16 paid 8 free. I have actually seen more low paid services that pull the so many paid plus so many free than I have seen the higher paid services. So the the low wage guy gets robbed twice.
-
It's higher there than where I'm at yet we get $18 for paramedic. Just sounds like the market is saturated with medics, or lots of volly services.
-
I wouldn't pull my boots on for that little.

So did we solve the problem yet? -
Lo siento. No habla. Hasta.

OK everyone step back, take a breath, wait for the bell, and come out fighting. Alright that is just wrong. Why can't we all just agree there are crappy people in every profession? Why can't we agree that at times BS is just BS? Why can't we just agree at times some declare things as BS but later others find it wasn't? OK so now everyone happy? Darn being the kindler gentler hand holding spenac is tough.

I know an area that could use a new provider to take it over. PM me if you want to move and start again. For getting rid of equipment please list more info so I can refer services to you to discuss if it fits their needs.

Are you selling the equipment or opening a company?

Help with EMT Ambulance job interview questions

What state or country will this interview be in? What level of certification do you have? What company is it with? Providing us with that information will help us to help you better. Welcome to the site. -
a northern alberta hospita re-using needles since 90'????
spenac replied to TDP's topic in General EMS Discussion
I hate when people leave the dirty gloves on and even write or enter their reports while still wearing them. I run through more gloves than probably 99% of medics on a 15 minute transport. I can not stand to touch anything with dirty gloves. Then hand washing well I will avoid my rant on that for now. -
First I have transported several patients that the nurses could have done what was needed for the patient. So this means the call was total BS. The only one that truly suffered was the poor patient that spent so much time in the vicious yo-yo. Now attacking the nurses or even complaining at the hospital doesno good. Sadly though we are often the ones that are chewed out by the ER doctor for wasting ER resources on patients that need nothing, but sadly I now primarily work at a you call we haul service. I miss my old job where I had the right to tell the doctor that came once a week to the local clinic no if his patient was not a true emergency. Sorry drifted for a minute. You are right though our young friend may have been badly influenced by providers that think all nursing home calls are a waste of time and our skills. I have seen medics that think that way and it makes me mad. What if that was my parents? Treat all patients, especially those that no longer control their lives with love and respect. Do not let your anger at one of the bad nurses, doctors, vent techs , fire fighters, etc, cause you to ever take a patient for granted and miss something that could cause patient to suffer. Respect me  . LOL. Thank you.
