  2. Hang in there. Think of it as a pay raise.
  3. Nope still no signs. A lot of birds, rabbits, and a few deer.
  4. Heres one from El Paso Texas where the pervert sucked his patients breasts. http://www.kfoxtv.com/news/6231088/detail.html January 18, 2006 -- The El Paso Fire Department responds after one of their own is arrested on sexual allegations. During a press conference Wednesday, El Paso Fire Department Chief, Roberto Rivera, addressed the issue. "I want to reassure the people that the behavior that was alleged is in no way condoned and is addressed immediately when we hear a complaint," said Rivera. Until the case is settled, Chief Rivera says Lieutenant Joe Montenegro has been relieved from duty. Montenegro was arrested and charged with official oppression, which is a misdemeanor charge. In the criminal complaintm the victim alleges that during a semi-conscious state in the back of an ambulance "she felt someone touch and suck on her breasts." Later tests showed Montenegro's DNA on the victim's breast. KFOX questioned police about applying the less serious misdemeanor charge, as opposed to sexual assault. Police officials responded that it didn't meet the criteria, offering no specific explanation.
  5. Yes what is now my part time job is very unique and yes it is 90 miles from the station to the hospital, with very limited communications. We do work more independently there than I am able to at my current full time job. My current full time job is much more like others here but we still do not do rolling codes unless they code on the way to the hospital. If we do have a rolling code the driver is instructed by me to stop at every stop sign, red light, and to slow down for turns. I also instruct them to let us know when they are approaching a stop or turn so we do not get caught off guard, but mainly this makes the person driving avoid getting the L&S hypnotism.
  6. But when leaders in our profession such as Bob Page do it, what else would we expect of those in the field?
  7. We have right to decide not to start cpr and we have right to decide when to stop cpr. The justice of the peace will meet us and sign the death statement even though they have no medical education. If they are not available we call hospital and tell the doctor the patient is dead and all efforts have ceased and he/she makes official time based on what we say. Most places seem to require you continue till doctor authorizes stoppage, here we stop when we decide that all further efforts are pointless. But actual legal pronouncement of death is either justice of peace or doctor. We do not have to remain on scene with the body if another call comes in. LE will wait and have JP sign the death certificate to make it official. No you did not call me out, so no offense taken. You either misunderstood what I said or I used a wrong term. Hope I cleared that up, sorry for the confusion.
  8. I disagree Richard. I have had many die in the ambulance. I have actually diverted to meet funeral home crew. And if I'm doing CPR when I arrive at the hospital they are dead at that point. I hate the statement nobody dies in my ambulance. It is a bunch of crap. Also note I don't do rolling codes. If I'm doing a rolling code it means they code enroute to hospital and I chose to work them as we pull up to the hospital. But as we are doing CPR they are dead. You do not do CPR on live people.

    I second that.
  10. I am jealous. I have read some of his writings. Wish I could go take his EKG course.
  11. I notice Bob Page famous 12 lead book writer and instructor has the following after his name. AAS, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, I/C
  12. LOL Catch you round the city. Oh and thanks again for EKG training materials.
  13. This patient would not consider the sinus infection five years ago as medical hx even though that is when he found out he was allergic to sulfa antibiotics. That information could change your choice of drugs from your box. While it is highly debated at times if a patient is allergic to sulfa they may also be hypersensitive to sulfates and sulfites. Many claim that they are totally unrelated yet I have seen several that react to all three including myself.
  14. Bite me. Is that a quality second or third post? Now can I go to chat?
  15. I had one sitting bleeding into toilet. Got her onto cot. Took a peek in toilet and there was a 2-3 month old fetus. She had denied any chance of being pregnant, so I guess miraculous conception, or previous toilet user had left it I guess.
  16. In the past this was done. How about someone do a search and post us a link here. Then we can see if anybody has come up with any new ones. 8)
  17. Ruff his first day he posted 3 fast pointless comments so he could enter chat. 2 were deleted. So now he has graced us with 3 more pointless posts so he could return to chat. Poor sap did not even realize he only had to post 2 more and would have been back in chat.
  18. Thankfully there are no known photos of me so no one will ever collect. Don't know who that handsome imposter in the photo is but he ain't me.
  19. Take the EMT-B online refresher course at one of these quality online schools. http://www.percomonline.com/percom/Courses...71/Default.aspx Online EMT-Basic Refresher/Remediation Course Information http://www.techproservices.net/emtb_refresher_info.php
  20. A couple of services I have been involved with are partially supported by a $5 assessment on the water bill. The citys and countys still have to include more. Of the $400,000+ it costs to run one ambulance a year less than 25% is actually covered by collections in a 911 system.
  21. Unless patient meets very strict standards or the company commits fraud most patients transports are not actually paid at all by medicaid/medicare, as most 911 callers actually could have safely gone pov.
  22. I agree that all the extra letters and titles mean nothing. They do hurt our profession as they further confuse the public. Sincerely, Spenac NREMT-I, soon to be NREMT-P, Current Texas EMT-I, soon to be Texas Paramedic, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, CPR, former ECA, former EMT-B, according to some JERK, PIMA, etc, etc,
  23. In 911 services you will find that the majority will never pay for their transport. Most patients with Medicare and Medicaid actually will not qualify for ambulance unless a service documents fraudently, it is clearly brought out if they could have gone by any other means they should have and not having a car is not what that means. Then the few that qualify for the transports the service will only receive a very percentage of what is billed. So in reality to have quality 911 EMS will always require tax support.
  24. Actually we use them in 911 and I would not want to go back. The lifting assistance it gives you greatly offsets the little extra weight. We take it in all houses except where lots of steps. Same as with our old cots. Once you go power you never go back.
  25. Sorry Doc. No it was not my evil twin. It was me in a minute of stupidity. Your absolutely right the s/s may not have been present to warrant a suspicion of anything serious 2 days earlier. I have had calls from the hospital a day or two after taking a patient that what all felt was nothing that needed an ambulance or ER turned out to be life threatening. Having reread my statements yes I feel like a freakin moron. Wow I am sorry I did blow that call big time and on something I have seen in the field. In the famous word of Homer Simpson "Doh". Thank you for correcting me and hopefully helping others less experienced from believing my misstatement. I did get the part right that she was to far gone by the time her parents got her to the ER though it would seem, based on your comments. So can I at least get a 50 on this assignment rather than a 0.
