  9. Yup. When run over they become a Texas frisbee.
  10. Very important cause since they are headed to extinction.
  11. I think the obese partner puts me more at risk than a person using meds to control depression. If the meds do not make the person drowsy or otherwise adversely affect them there is no reason they should not be at work. As with any med you need to be extremely cautious when you first start it. So many conditions can and do affect people. Some are short term, some life long. If any changes occur with any partner pay attention, if a danger to you and your patient have them leave. Give them the option to leave on their own and if they refuse then have them removed.
  12. Seems like somebody has much to hide or compensate for.
  13. Doc Bledsoe is getting ready for us. Are you going? "EMStock is a unique gathering of EMS and public safety personnel. EMStock was the brainchild of several Texas EMS providers and has developed into a national event. The purpose of EMStock is to build and strengthen the EMS community by providing a place and time where everyone can meet on an equal basis and share ideas and dreams. By removing the obvious alliances, certifications, egos and attitudes and creating a social atmosphere, EMStock serves as the singular event where any EMS provider with any idea can be heard on equal footing with everyone else. Because of this we ask that everyone "check their certifications, and affiliations, egos and attitudes at the gate." With EMStock as America's most unique EMS Conference you get: Accredited EMS education by top speakers and educators Live, quality entertainment on the EMStock stage Texas chili cook-off Texas barbecue cook-off (new for 2008!) Fellowship and fun " [web:5b2eb2e890]http://www.emstock.com/[/web:5b2eb2e890]

  15. Heres two conflicting article titles based on same study. http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN0130534320080401[web:449989666c]http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN0130534320080401[/web:449989666c] http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iLo64f8...He7VqwD8VP9UEG2[web:449989666c]http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iLo64f8npoY9pqDkUDLACnHe7VqwD8VP9UEG2[/web:449989666c]
  16. Drug Calculations.
  17. Link is not working for me. Sorry. Oops my bad now it's working. Darn technology. Those were the good old days. I hated last month when we upgraded to the hearse.
  18. Prior to doing it could you RSI them? Then they would be unaware of what had taken place. I guess I think of these things because of the distance/time I deal with my patients. If they have massive internal bleeding they will be long gone prior to getting to a trauma surgeon. Not all patients would need this. Many impaled patients are very stable, but at times you get the one that has hit the lottery and are pouring blood from everywhere. Again sorry for my overactive brain. Guess being in school and doing so much research is making me think very abstract.
  19. My mind is in overdrive so bear with me. Do any of you think it would actually be beneficial to actually heat an impaled object so it would seal shut blood vessels to limit blood loss? Could this actually be a life saving measure? Am I way off base?
  20. Make sure they actually pay all hours you are at their beck and call. I have seen many services that require you to be on call unpaid, and only go on the clock when your ambulance has a patient. So you make a decently hourly wage until you add in all the unpaid time.
  21. If a patient is impaled on metal object you also need to remember that the cutting generates heat that transfers to the patient. If you design something new let us know.
  22. Sorry big boss. I'll try harder to stay on track.
  23. Could of sworn I posted a joke based on wording of OP's question and then explained where it proves most beneficial in real life. Guess I was dreaming. In real life when big rigs crash and you need to get patients out reciprocating saws work great. They are able to cut even where jaws of life can not get. Our fire department uses them frequently when they help us on extrication. As far as to how myself and others understood OP. Based on some of the wonderful shows about EMS  I made statement that they work great for amputating stuck extremities to ease extrication, but is done less than emergency c-sections on dieing women.
  24. But good enough to get them past any check point w/o question.
  25. Or just buy one at auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-E-Seri...tem250229551452
