What about state laws? Unless I misunderstand the rule but in Texas you must have visibly displayed your name, level, and service. So we would have to either change the rule or decide what would look most professional in complying.

We are not allowed to go past the band aid hospital 90 miles away. But even after getting there they still have 2.5 to 3 hours to nearest trauma surgeon, cardiologist, really anything beyond general family practice. If helicopter or fixed wing is able to meet us at the hospital you can shave an hour to hour and a half off that time. But often they will be at the band aid hospital for an hour or two before air can get there. So yes your pretty well dead if you are in bad shape even if we get you to the band aid hospital alive.

As a dispatcher you never make sense. Actually we all tend to hesitate at new things.

We definitely need to get a uniform that is durable but obviously medical. I hate the tshirts, the cop shirts, etc. A high quality scrub top ( not the flimsy see thru crap ) with Paramedic pants would serve well. Then have extrication jump suit to protect you for the rare climb into the wreck situation. We are not cops, we are not fire fighters, we are not nurses, we are not doctors, we are emergency medical professionals that need a uniform that separates us from all the others.

Actually federal labor laws allow more than 40 hours per week for EMS w/o overtime. It all depends upon the type of service.

No air support. We have to travel the 90 miles and a helicopter or fixed wing can meet us at the hospital. There is rumors that a fixed wing is moving into our area, but I 'll believe it when I see it.

All the services that I have dealings with use them.

Our nearest trauma surgeon is actually over 4 hours away running hot.

So easy a basic could do it. If I were a paramedic under his command I would demand he be fired for insulting my profession. If not fired I would resign. No one with any self respect would tolerate being talked down about like that.

Native Americans have used it in religion practice and healing forever. Now all the idiots are trying to get it and abuse it. Because of that it will be outlawed and then it will be hard for those that have considered it part of their religion hard to get it.
