  1. You mean the way that Luigi Galvani would make frog's legs dance by electrical stimulation. Some called it a "supernatural" feat.
  2. I believe she is using a method of vagal maneuver, the effort to do either would stimulate the vagal response. I do not think she was doing the old breath in bag for hyperventilation. I may be wrong.
  3. Bad idea. Get called for lifting assistance. Send BLS and find something serious, care of patient will suffer. All trucks should be required to be ALS for the benefit of the patient.
  4. Thank you again for more educational materials. Especially for free, I can afford that.
  5. I'm studying his 12 lead book at this moment. Wish I could attend his class.
  6. I just prefer BVM as I don't like that up close and personal feeling I get from mouth to mask. But with the new guidelines compressions are all you need till ambulance gets there most times.
  7. Is the pain you have similar to the previous births or the miscarriages? Any vaginal discharge? What color? Any STD's? I suggest a visual vaginal exam to see if anything peeking back at you and so you can describe any discharge appropriately. This is just a few things to start. Do vitals as always. Treat accordingly.
  8. So with a 12 lead you are doing what? That was the topic wasn't it.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzldLJcorbo Thank God I'm a Country Boy:John Denver
  10. Not the OP. He only has one post. You are thinking of the other new person that was also rudely attacked ( tigershell339 ). katbemeEMT-B you mention mouth to mask rather than O2. Why not carry a BVM instead?
  11. http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...=design+uniform Long uniform discussion.
  12. I still like the idea of a high quality form fitted scrub talk with EMS pants.
  13. As a very rural provider my protocols allowed for us to keep oxygen with us for use in our coverage area. Check with your medical director and also check your state regulations. Welcome to the city.
  14. Always check ebay. A lot of people realize they have no need for them and sometimes you can get a bargain.
  15. The Night Chicago Died by Paper Lace
  16. Any monitoring has additional fees if you itemize. If you have flat fees for BLS or ALS transports what type of monitoring is done can change a BLS run to an ALS run charge.
  17. Get over it all we are is low paid TAXI drivers. Until education standards go up it really is an insult to Taxi drivers that we are compared to them.
  18. If we could only take patients to nearest hospital we would only have about 10 minute transport time on most. But darn international laws and all just get in the way. And then to all the illegals would get mad that we were taking them back, so probably get sued for rights violations. Just can't win for losing.
  19. I agree. Sadly I don't think this is just a media screw up. But somebody had to play the what if card.
  20. At my full time job our epcr automatically sends required info to the state. At my part time job we write out pcr, then someone has to come back later and read it and enter thae required info onto the state site. So a duplication of work. Of course they are talking about upgrading us to this. 21. I am surprised that no one has asked is it possible that the family in their hysterical state is wrong about what they thought they saw. Is it not possible that they saw him exit the passenger side door of the box and just assumed it was the front passenger door? Is it not possible that he was in the back of the box? Is it not possible that the hose got kinked with him trying to position her for CPR? Is it not possible that stories change because as days go by the many different calls they got started running together? Is it not possible that the Basic and the paramedic had different stories because of different perspectives based on different positions in ambulance and different education? I agree based on that article it sounds like they suck but what if it was really just that one nightmare call where everything went wrong? Just saying what if?
  22. What is a "rual" area? And when you say "real area" what kind of real area are you talking about? I work part time at a service that is 90 miles to hospital with no air support and only 1 ambulance. We have some patients that it takes about 2 hours response time, then it takes well over 3 hours transport time to the hospital. Most response times are closer to 20 minutes. Nearest mutual aid is an hour away. We are primary for over 2000 square miles, and mutual aid for another 4000+ square miles.
  23. Your right that other expenses are involved in running a service. But those other expenses have already been paid while a service was a volly service. The only new expenses are the wages and a little more for utilitys as station will have people there 24/7. As far as another poster mentioned vollys should sue for back wages. It could really force the movement forward. It is funny as a service goes from volly to paid how much wages go up. Recently 3 services in my area went paid. Now we are seeing $25/hr for paramedics where just a couple of years ago if a paramedic made $11/hr they were considered top pay.
