Besides the reasons you mentioned another reason not to sign since he did not call EMS is so he is not responsible to pay. Many services charge you even if they do not transport. Why should this family have to pay for an idiots mistake. I hope they end up owning the first responder, his service, cps, the police, the city, etc. I am all for protecting children but responsible parents should not be harassed and children should not have unwanted and unneeded care forced on them.

Nope motrin is for prevention of pregnancy. Aspirin to prevent delivery.

In Your Opinion, What Is Holding USA EMS Back?
spenac replied to spenac's topic in General EMS Discussion
No improvement will ever be had as everyone is focused on themselves and their areas. When someone has another opinion they are beat down. No organization will ever happen because it's obvious we would rather beat the hell out of each other so management and government will continue to abuse those of us idiots that chose this as a profession. What a bad choice on my part. -

New Contest - running until Jan 31
spenac replied to Just Plain Ruff's topic in General EMS Discussion
Thanks Ruff for reinstating contest. Just to help those a little that are going to enter my suggestion is google various brand of ambulance this will help you to see various options to incorporate into your ambulance. For supplys same thing google various suppliers such as PMI, EMP, Moore, etc to get prices. In various EMS publications you can also find web addresses. This contest is a lot of work but those that do this will be ahead of others if they ever get a chance to do it for real. It will also help you appreciate what your service provides you with. It will also help you present an intelligent discussion if your service is not providing what is needed. Again thanks Ruff. -

Jehovah's Witness Interference with Pediatric Care

WOW I am such a liar. Should not have said no more. Sorry that I made more posts. Thank you to those that while not agreeing were at least respectful. I have posted more than enough information to let those that want to at least have a general idea about JW's reasons for not taking blood. I have also provided several sources that have nothing to do with the JW religion so you can see the science that is out there that obviously many here did not know existed. The watchtower.org site also discusses many of these advances and has videos and discussions with many world famous doctors. I apologize if any of my replys were rude. edit* Vent when I say we I mean we as a group. Yes in every group there are people that choose not to remain firm to whatever there beliefs are. So if any that did walk away from a child did so w/o scriptural reasons and not with the blessing of the group. -

"Dustdevil"]I don't think there are any transplant surgeons who would even attempt it without blood transfusions. Too risky. The patient dies, and it looks bad for them. Can't blame them. . -
Jehovah's Witness Interference with Pediatric Care

Thank you for you polite response. Actually many bloodless surgerys including heart are done worldwide. The videos at those links discusses many procedures that are now done worldwide w/o blood products being used. There are many new techniques that were developed that now are being recognized as much better by the medical community. I am no doctor so please don't ask me to explain the processes. Here is a link to one hospital listing some of the many bloodless procedures they offer. It even mentions heart transplant. This is not a JW site for any that are afraid to click the links to watchtower.org. http://www.noblood-miami.com/english/specialties.htm and another link to another hospital not a JW site http://www.theuniversityhospital.com/blood...loodlesssvc.htm Google bloodless hospital or bloodless surgery and you will find many of the finest hospitals are now offering these services. -

Thank you Ruff. While I do not expect to be able to get mine done I do feel this is a great learning experience. Having been thru the process in reality it would have been nice to have had some practice before to make it easier. Wish all the best. I still wish i could get the signed Dale Dubin, that book has made a huge impact on my EKG education. -

Wendy, I'll risk being a liar to say thanks. Thank you for a respectful answer. Organ donations/transplants are a matter for each member to decide. Some JW's will say yes, some will say no. -
Anyone have experience/knowledge of Training Division.com
spenac replied to bridge876's topic in Education and Training
Self study as Dust mentioned is tough. My advise is get several EMT books and study them all. Do not just settle for what one tells you. Each book will explain things in different ways. It also seems each writer emphasis something different from the others. This advice also applys if you go traditional school if you truly want an education. -
Jehovah's Witness Interference with Pediatric Care

I guess I am going to make myself a liar now because I am making one more post on this topic. First the children that are illegally removed from their parents and given a transfusion are still accepted back with love. We do not abandon our children. We treat them no differently it was not their fault that they were kidnapped. Again false bullcrap. All I asked is that people not throw out uneducated unsupported rumors. Captain in my experience those that we get to hospital and doc says need blood now or they will die die even after the blood transfusion just as often as those that refuse blood but still receive appropriate care. Brent I already gave the brief answer to your question in my reply to Ruff, please refer to it. Dust the aids deal was never used by us as proof of Gods favor on our understanding and punishment for those that don't obey. If a JW (Jehovahs Witness) told you that that was their understanding. Also if you dated a JW they were not strong in the faith as we do not date people not of our faith. Wow Dust I expected strong opinion but at least a little more educated response. Not one based on very limited exposure to witnesses and still based on rumors. Honestly JW's are hard to shut up if you are polite and not trying to argue. We are not going to argue. Just like we see here on the city that when people are rude and argumentive things go down hill. That is when we walk away. As to the blood issue as it is a matter of faith it is not an subject that is easy to explain. The only explanation I need is it is God's law. I can read it with my own two eyes yet you mock what is there in black and white. God does not have to give me an explanation, he created all things. You can call that stupidity uneducated etc your choice. I choose to follow the bible as God's word you are free to choose what you want to do but don't lower yourself to belittling what you do not agree with. As to medical benefits yes medical benefits have been discussed from avoiding transfusions and those benefits are found in many medical journals not just ours. We do not reject the transfusion because of medical risks we reject them because of God's law. There is only one other medical procedure we do not accept, and I don't consider it medical I consider it murder, and that is abortion. All other procedures and treatments are up to each person. For more information please refer to the links provided. Well have a great day. Please avoid rumors. To avoid being a liar again I will say that I do not plan to respond again on this topic. Not because I am "locking up" as Dust put it but because this is a discussion better had in person, in a calm polite atmosphere not one that has already developed a mob mentality. -

Why is it everybody has to attack? Yes in past I have been guilty of it as well. Can't we all grow up. I was excited. If my schedule would have allowed it I would have tried to win. hell it would have been interesting especially to have seen the young people that had never been involved in ambulance purchases. From here on out if you don't like something politely express opinion but why the hell attack people for their opinion. I hereby apologize to all I have attacked. I will work more to politely express my opinion w/o beating up somebody. -
As far as stopping normally not unless it's my area with crews that know me. If lots of cars involved I might stop and offer to help if they want me but usually not. The excitement dies down quite a bit. I find very few really pump me up. Don't get me wrong still love what I do and the occasional adrenalin rush is fine with me.

Jehovah's Witness Interference with Pediatric Care
spenac replied to captainstandup's topic in General EMS Discussion
I am responding on the forum as others had this question as well. Acts 15: 20,29 Says abstain from blood. A transfusion is a use of blood, so should not be done. 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and [from] fornication, and [from] things strangled, and [from] blood 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. There are other scriptures that state not to eat blood, some in Leviticus. An IV is a means of feeding someone, so taking in blood by it would be just like eating it. But this is not a religion forum so as you said will not get into scriptural debate. The only reason I even responded on this thread was a blatant miss statement that the parents killed their child. Again refer to the links provided and you will find information from medical professionals that are not Jehovah's Witnesses. There is also some brief and if you want in depth scriptural discussions on there that will give you more explanation of our beliefs. Please do not judge based on hearsay. Get the facts. (It always amazes me just as a side point how many claim we do not believe in Jesus, sorry just another thing people believe based on hearsay.) Those employed in hospitals should contact the number on the video link page and have a free seminar at the hospital explaining more ways to work with us and the many others that refuse blood for other reasons, might learn some new methods that improve all patient care. This is an emotionally charged subject that can not be done justice on line. But just know that we love our children and want the best of care minus the use of blood which is not asking much considering all the medical advances since the 60's. On this site I often hear that we make no advancements in EMS well the use of blood has had many advances that many doctors, hospitals and others in medicine seem to have missed. I will avoid responding on this topic any further so we don't get accused of it becoming a scriptural debate. Just please do not make false emotional charges.
