I think it means that the paramedics should have current tetanus shots. No reason in the field to give them to people.

They are to very different fields. If you want nursing go straight to nursing. -
EMT "Boot Camps" Your Thoughts Please

Yes some will look down on you. Yes many paramedics go on to nursing, much better pay and better work conditions. The down side to EMS you might get injured, lots of back and knee injuries. You will not get good pay especially as a basic. Experience as a basic most places you will be doing transfers back to nursing homes. If you get into a 911 job with a good paramedic partner you can learn a few things. But the biggest thing is do not allow work to distract you from school. Become a degreed RN will require your full attn. -
EMT "Boot Camps" Your Thoughts Please

Welcome to the site. We like basics that see the need to continue education for the betterment of the patients we serve. The biggest problem most have is some basics with the extremely limited education act as if they are able to save the world. Use your basic education as a stepping stone. And most importantly act as a medical professional at all times. -
You passed congrats.

Yup you better get your butt in gear and get your education young lady. -
$30 for 4 pounds, that there is what I call rich people food. I can buy a bag of beans and eat for a week on a dollar. On a good week make some cornbread and rice for variety.

Welcome new person. OP probably already done something. But in West Texas paramedics can make $18hr and get 48-60hrs a week.

Would you let a family member help in a code?
spenac replied to Riblett's topic in General EMS Discussion
I'm all for family helping. In fact if they don't love the person enough to help why should I? Actually I have found familys do better most times when you get them involved. Maybe just helping carry stuff. Getting towels, blankets, boiling water, etc, you really don't need the stuff but they feel involved and often stops the panic state they are in. If they are physically able and are doing it right I will let them in the CPR rotations. I have been thanked by familys that were involved in care, and not just on codes. I find really on even the most BS of call if you get the family involved it actually helps them learn that they can do some things without calling for the ambulance. Now on one call, not a code, I asked a family member to get me something and was told no thats what your paid to do. So not everyone is willing to help. I believe on that call we actually denied transport and person had to help anyway and drive patient to the er. -
Fire Chief Charles Hood: I am personally sorry if my comments added to family's pain Web Posted: 12/20/2007 08:07 AM CST Charles Hood Members of the San Antonio Fire Department and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Erica Smith who died from injuries sustained in a collision on Loop 410. advertisement I met with her family hours before she succumbed to her injuries and it was clear to me from their grief and loving expressions, that Ms. Smith was a dearly loved and an exceptional woman. We are sincerely saddened for the Smith family's loss. There are no words that can express the department's anguish over a decision made at the accident that led to a determination that Ms. Smith's condition was not conducive to life. There are circumstances and conditions that could cause an emergency responder to make such a determination. I have tremendous confidence in the paramedics that serve this great city and an understanding of what it is like to carry out their critical duties. I will not prematurely speculate on any conclusions. The circumstances of the decisions made by the paramedics involved are under review by the city's director of Emergency Medical Services, as well as the Fire Department. Once all of the facts are known, appropriate actions will be immediately initiated. At a news conference this week, I was asked if I would apologize to the family of Ms. Smith. I understood the question to mean would I apologize for decisions made by paramedics at the scene. At the time the question was asked, the review of the decision made by the paramedics was in process. My response, however, was reported as insensitive and for that I sincerely apologize to the family and friends of Erica Smith. I am personally sorry if my comments before the media in any way added to the family's pain and sorrow. I hope that I conveyed to the Smith family at the hospital how very saddened we are as a department. I can only hope that in that private moment, the Smith family found genuine regret in my eyes and in my words. I also want to apologize to the citizens of San Antonio that I so greatly care about and strive to serve with dignity and respect. A thorough review is being conducted and the outcome will be shared with the public we so proudly serve. The men and women in the San Antonio Fire Department carry out the hardest job in the best way they can. Our city's paramedics, like those in every other city across the country, are called upon to respond to tens of thousands of vehicular accidents every year. Life and death decisions are made under extremely challenging and difficult circumstances, often with extreme danger to first responders. However, it's a job we do proudly and with passion. We are honored by the respect and confidence shown to the firefighters and paramedics in our city andwe intend to continue to work hard to deserve it. The residents of San Antonio can count on our dedicated efforts and we will continue to earn the trust of the community we serve. Charles Hood is the chief of the San Antonio Fire Department. http://www.mysanantonio.com/opinion/storie...t.34222f14.html

So as long as I have prices for various options I can have this custom made? It does not have to be done using only the options from one particular company? In other words I like this option from wheeled coach, this from frazer, this from an israeli amb, this from what ever, Can I combine those features as a spec from my imaginary amb mfg.? Or do i have to use only options from one brand? -

Design a distinct uniform to identify professional EMS
spenac replied to spenac's topic in Equiqment and Apparatus
We definitly need a distinct uniform that identifys us as medical professionals. The public needs to see something that makes them think medical rather than firefighter. -
John Maddens favorite thanksgiving meal. Never tried it. Only for the rich. I can barely afford a chicken, much less the rest.

Sorry Vivi I think Dust has found his true love. Good job young man. Keep up the good work.

Ethnography (ἔθνος ethnos = people and γράφειν graphein = writing) is the genre of writing that presents varying degrees of qualitative and quantitative descriptions of human social phenomena, based on fieldwork. Ethnography presents the results of a holistic research method founded on the idea that a system's properties cannot necessarily be accurately understood independently of each other. The genre has both formal and historical connections to travel writing and colonial office reports. Several academic traditions, in particular the constructivist and relativist paradigms, employ ethnographic research as a crucial research method. Many cultural anthropologists consider ethnography the essence of the discipline. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnography
