I hate football standby. My old job for 4 years did not have to do it. My new job I might get stuck with it. I always get in trouble because I get in coaches faces about being idiots putting kids back in the game.

What ever education you pursue try and do so where you get college credit. This way as life and time goes by you will be able to roll credits over to your new field.

For the basic you would have to make a trip to Texas for an intense hands on program. As far as clinicals they might allow you to get contracts with some of your local EMS and hospitals. Call them.

You are there to handle Emergencies. You respond on scene to the Emergencies. So you are part of EMS. The other thread they did not respond to Emergencies so were not EMS.

Then you did right. My bad I must need new glasses missed the mental status. In his case all we can do is treat what we have in front of us. I think based on what you have brought out I would have ran him under cardiac protocol to. My old job I basically worked as a paramedic even though only an EMT-I. This case will make some interesting study as I am in my Paramedic course.

With your logic every home would need a paramedic stationed in it because of the possibility of something happening. IF YOU DO NOT RUN EMERGENCY YOU ARE NOT EMS.

In this case unless I missed something you have only nurses expressing concern, but a patient with no symptoms. While it was advisable to continue to monitor patient for changes enroute to hospital all treatment should be based on patient not on that funny little box that makes up down lines. Was fiznat wrong to follow cardiac protocol? No, a supposed higher level of care said it was a cardiac call. But their statement may have clouded thinking processes. The question I have for fiznat is would you have treated same way if you had been only person with medical education to evaluate this patient, no input from others? If yes then you did what you thought was best for patient. Thanks for interesting case. And other poster thanks for link with info on this abnormality.

You handle emergency calls then. So would be EMS. The OP said company in question did no emergency calls. Any service that does not do any EMERGENCY CALLS IS NOT EMS.

My post already answered that. The origional question was if you never do 911 never do emergency calls are you EMS. No you are not. Many services may barely but if they do some then they are still EMS. Sorry very simple. Very clear cut. Why waste more time. If you have a job your happy with enjoy it do it well regardless of whether EMS or not.
