  1. Dang Dust I don't know what to say other than, dude your old and short. Thanks for the pics.
  2. And got $1 million from walmart. Deal or no deal.
  3. This should have been the shortest topic ever on the city. The question is easily answered with "Any service that does not do any 911 calls or emergency hospital to hospital transports is not EMS. Do not know if all you do is haul people home and to appointments if you should even be called medical." But now we've gone over every what if scenario. Again there is no way you are EMS if you do not do emergency calls. Let it go. Do your job. Pull your heads out of the dark hole they are in. If you have a taxi driver job, do it the with the utmost professionalism. Alright end this topic it has been answered and re-answered.
  4. Toughen up man. "There is no crying in [s:26af15e2c6]baseball[/s:26af15e2c6] EMS".
  5. I always like to shock students by setting up the class with patients trapped under the tables. No way to extricate. Then when they get under the table the lights fail. Funny how many panic and abandon the patient. I have others that improvise, they turn cell phone on and use that light to continue working. Some use the light from their watch. It really is a great way to see how well they respond to bad conditions and how well they improvise.
  6. It seems under the kinder gentler city no one goes to hell. Such a sad day. Don't know why my post was deleted I put it where it belonged the funny section. Dang we are getting to PC on this site. From now on no one can do any wrong. All is good. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  8. I remember as a wee lad joining this site. Quickly I locked horns with several here. I initially refused to open my mind. Thankfully I believe if my ancient mind is working, Rid, Dust, Ruff, and a few others pm'ed me. Asked me to tone it down and take time and see others views. They still occasionally have to remind me  . They encouraged me to continue to post, to take part but back up my statements or ease up. Oh well enough of these touchy kindness posts back to bashing everyone.
  9. This makes it sound that they may not have anybody with them. They are to call for a paramedic. That is scary. Again I am all for them being third member of the team, but not be the primary.
  10. Lets play a game since my condemned to hell post got deleted.
  11. I can see young people working along side 2 experienced people. We all get experience somehow. Personally I was much older when I started EMS and think the age and life experience proved very beneficial to myself and how I treat patients.
  12. Well you sack of lousy EMS want a be. Where have you been. I have attacked everyone lately even the Great DUST. Did I offend, I hope so. In the words of Dust Go big or go home. OK just kidding. Also I apologize for my attacks and my rants, especially toward the newbies. I will try and behave. Alright enough being nice, catch you taxi drivers later.

  16. Wendy, For a young person who honestly can not be considered to be experienced in life, you actually brought out some good points. Your very right we need to quit attacking one another, especially the new people. I am guilty  . I know you attack me it's going to harder to convince me I need to make a change or even to listen to your opinion. Your also right the problems are not going to be solved on places like this unless all 15000 plus members come together and get the word out that we need changes for the better. Congrats a rant that actually was good. Hope your head cold and PMS get better.

  19. Dust your right in part. Most I have met take their course thinking it will be easy and quick. They then gripe because it goes so much deeper than what is needed for NR. They are not a diploma mill. This course is based on checking other schools probably the best EMS education in Texas ( sadly thats not hard to do when you consider the 10 wk TEEX course ). Clinicals and and ambulance ride outs, they actually have lots of places contracted with in Texas. They are approved for NR. Texas requires NR for initial cert. The founders of it are NR reps as are many of the instructors. If you sign up for the courses be sure you set aside several hours a day and stick with it. Do not expect easy. You will need access to several paramedic and beyond books because most assignments are essay that require in depth answers backed up with references. For myself only way to go forward. It took me a year from time I started EMT-I course to certification. Currently doing paramedic and it is a butt kicker. I have asked paramedics from multiple services questions from my course and many times get told I don't know, and you don't need that to be a paramedic. Myself I like knowing what to do, why I do it, what to expect good and bad, and what all to be prepared to do. I like knowing what is happening in all the organs all the way down to the cellular level. Those that complete their course find NR to be to easy. I get tired of all the gripes about how hard NR is. The EMT-I was a joke of a test. But according to Maxie ( the big cheese of EMS in Texas ) the reason was I actually received a great education. As to college credit only draw back not transferable that I am aware of.
  20. How true. Well back to my flavored water  .
  21. Good of you to admit it. No shame in any job well done.
  22. This is not funny. My sister gets bit by a bee and a week to 2 weeks later she goes into shock. This has happened multiple times. Why is her reaction delayed? I don't know maybe a doc on here has heard of this. So you going laughing at the lady and calling it BS may cost her life.
  23. Yes she needs a patch over the other saggy breast.
  24. I disagree. The drop off is still very minor to additional risk to the public. Slow down. Save more lives.
  25. Wrong, Safety. In all honesty why put the public and the officer at risk to go to a dead person call. Very few are brought back to actually return to life as normal later. And that crap nobody dies in my ambulance is also crap, 99.9 % of the time if your pumping chest in the ambulance, they are already dead but uneducated idiots refuse to call it and quit putting everybody else at risk of injury or death. Out of hospital "saves" ( save is returns home basically same as prior to event ) are very almost non-existent. Honestly far more people are probably harmed and killed by idiots responding and transporting L&S codes than have those that have been "saved". Do whats right for the majority, Quit risking everyones life for one dead person.
