  1. So what are your protocols for this? Who provides the education?
  2. Go Rangers
  3. So should Paramedics be allowed to check active labor patients for level of dilation? Do any services allow this and if so how are protocols worded? I see pro's and con's to this. But will hold my tongue till I see some others thoughts.
  4. "If", that is the most profound statement you have ever made  . There is no way all these groups will ever work together. They all want the glory. They are all in competition for state and federal money.
  5. I think schools should focus on the skills rather than the hours of clinicals. The school I attended for my EMT-I required X# of each type of patients and/or skills. I actually got more than 200 hours more than the state required before getting all skills completed. And I did clinicals at a busy service not at small town slowville.
  6. In my primary service they are stuck with the crew that shows up. At my second service in theory I could call for a second ambulance. But I have to agree that if they're well enough to argue who will take them they probably don't need the ambulance anyway. Now if they have an actual gripe as with sex addict carlos he might have to drive and let his partner at what ever level take patient care, if no other rigs available.
  7. Two problems with this post. 1 - No reference, could be made up, could be from bs source. But even if legit fire you are missing the point, you need to treat the patient, even when only a basic and then as an intermediate I was taught to evaluate what my patients S/S and treat based on that. Even my paramedic course emphasis treating patient not the machine. We are being educated to use all our senses then to develope a plan based on that patient. MONA is to cook book. 2. Comes from a FF, which means he probably went through one of those test taking training centers, not an actual education facility. See that wasn't nice to have a statement made about you w/o backing it up. Back up your statements. Whats with your attitude dude? Did someone hurt your feelings and now you want to take it out on everyone? Come back to reality and back your statements. I am all for differing view points. If you have seen my posts you know I like to get people to think out of the comfort of the box they live in. You know I don't care whos toes I step on. So now get in gear or quit wasting our time and space. Can we now get back to discussing 12 lead?
  8. Thank God we all found jobs that pay a decent wage. I alway's wonder how anyone could survive on a mere 25 million a year.
  9. Naw just little league.
  10. Exactly. Bet no one has a worse favorite baseball team.
  11. What about me and my Texas Rangers? Why oh why?

  16. Hope she's a good looking "boss" . And I like your honesty about hardly ever doing it yourself.
  17. First off do you not have a sense of humor? Sorry that my illustration stepped on your toes. Don't care if your a newbie or the creator of the site. Secondly, search is your friend. Before posting, read a little on the site. Search the subject. There is not anything new under the sun. Locate the post and build on it. :? Thirdly, "First off I seriously doubt you have the education, training or experience to imply that I am a moron." Your probably right. Didn't expect that now did you? Have a great day. Don't get your panties in a wad, and enjoy the site.
  18. As a basic and then an intermediate I save my Paramedics butt all the time. OOPS wait no actually sadly most of the time I am the highest level available. But if I had a Paramedic on board I could save them by buying them a cup of coffee after each call. I could well really I can't do anything that another Paramedic could not do. I really bet that the one Paramedic we have wish's he did not have to make every serious decision when he is on with us BLS guys. Well hopefully one day I will be able to better help our Paramedic when I become a Paramedic.
  19. Behind OP's back : What a freakin moron. Doesn't he know how to do a search? This topic has been beat to death. For all the others laughing at him heres one of the several discussions from recent times : http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9373 . To OP's face : Great topic. I've always wondered myself about this subject. Wish I had asked. Is this the type of thing your talking about? Never heard of it happening before.
  20. I have MCS ( Multiple Chemical Sensitivity ). I react to pretty much all chemicals, perfumes, cleaning supplies, etc. I get extremely ill. I do my job. Like Dust said we should not be in a location very long. As far as clean up after call, I wear gloves and open all doors on ambulance. At the station I do chores to. While I get mildly sick with short term exposures I have found that by eating good food rather than fast food and exercising outside ( i.e. walking around the ambulance or station ) that I keep myself sharp and fit to take care of patients. So heres my advice: Find something that helps you to cope with your allergies. Avoid anything like benadryl that has potential to make a person drowsy. Don't start a new allergy med while on duty, try it while off duty in case it wipes you out. Looks bad if you fall asleep on your patient. Eat right and exercise.
  21. Dang it. Guess if it was that way in the Dust ages  , still like that now, it will never change.
