  1. Oh I thought peep was slang for friend, so I thought this was a friend test, my bad  . But thanks for the info anyway.
  2. It really depends on the service. Some do w/o admitting it hire based on personal preference, best to stay away from those services. You want a service that tests you based on your level. They want to see that you know what you should. They take that plus your interview and as a new person consider your potential. One of the services I work with pay you to third ride out, myself 2 shifts but my reputation preceded me, but most 3rd ride 8-10 shifts if you pass test and interview. Then if the various people you work with give the boss a good report they hire you, if not they thank you for your time with your last check.
  3. I believe it was discussed that the scrub top would have service info on it front and back.
  4. Keep trying for a job. It will help your self worth and help you gain experience. Your doing 1 or 2 runs a week will not build your skills. In fact the limited education received as a basic will be forgotten quickly if not used more. I actually started as a volly, but now I see that giving my services away for free hurt everyones chances for better income. We had a good discussion on here about turning a service into a paid one. Now I work in a very rural area paid. I'm 90 miles to the nearest hospital. I speak small town rural american too. Look forward to hearing about your progress.
  5. I can't give up anymore valuable space for extrication equipment. Let the fire dept do it. Or just require all patients to be self extricated.
  6. My lands people. Give the kid a break. Yes she needs to be more professional in her posts. Yes she needs to give more info. She did not say she was a paramedic, and I doubt it with her age. She say's she's new, she's asking for help, so lets help her. As far as getting excited at the tones, I bet everyone here when they started out got excited. Now if like me now, you say oh crap another stubbed toe as you stumble to the ambulance. But hey let's help her and any other new ones that come here humbly asking for help. Edited because she posted while I was writing my post. Now a little bit of tough love on my part. Stop being a volunteer. That will help you get better quicker than anything else I can say. STOP VOLUNTEERING. Glad to hear you are already planning to continue your education. I will be happy to try and help you if I can. Also remember spellcheck before posting.
  7. 6 out of 20 or 30% guess I havn't made it to geek squad yet. The funny or sad part is I had to guess at all of them.

  10. Just don't let people intimidate you. But I will admit in the beginning at times some of the people that helped me (i.e. instructors) when we would work a scene together sometimes caused me to slow down and let them take the lead. But mostly I just focus on the patient and ask for the same things I would from any other partner. It will get easier as you get more education and experience.

  15. It is an unorganised profession here in the states. Otherwise we could have done sadly what Fire and Law did, used it to get more recognition and funds. Not the best way to go about it but effective. Before you rip me a new one I am not disrespecting anyone, I to lost a friend there that day, I am just stating a fact. Out of this disaster came tons of funds for FF and LE. The fire dept I was with received lots of funds and we were in the middle of nowhere. I am just saying had we been organised we could have used that time to honor those of our profession while also improving things for all of us.

  17. Thats the problem they think we are FF's. We need to do something that shows we are healthcare professionals. Really the high quality scrub top with our BDU's could work great.

  22. Alright laugh at me if you must but help an old man out. Is there more to this than pic of a blonde with big ones? HTML?
  23. Better to second and third check than to send a live person for the funeral home like so many "experienced" medics have done last few years. I'm guilty of saying dead, then while waiting for JP, LE, and funeral home going back and rechecking the patient. I just make it like I'm consoling the family or if wreck making sure ants and bugs are staying off body.
  24. Good text book answer. Did you know one of the northern states, can't remember which one, had the rule that to be decapitated head must be at least 6" from body. Any closer you still had to do CPR.
