It would be best if you could just go straight to Paramedic with no breaks. Get your experience while in school if possible. If you have to get your EMT-I go straight for it out of EMT-B. Then start Paramedic as soon as possible. There is no reason to stay a basic. Any good paramedic program will help you do your BLS skills better while giving you much needed education.

And how is that a reason to make us public safety rather than healthcare? If, when I was in LE, I would have rather had a healthcare professional come take care of me rather than a public safety FF that doesn't even want to be in EMS but is forced to.

Saving lives is for religion. As an EMT-B if you get lucky you prolong somebodys miserable existence.

He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better education then any cop from Houston, Texas. License and registration, please." The lawyer says, "What's the difference?" "The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!" the Deputy says. Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." "That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir," the deputy says. At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the ever-loving heck out of the lawyer and says, "Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?"

What's "continuing education"? How true. Many small services refuse to provide it, so if medics are not motivated and willing to spend their own money, they get stale and lose the skills.

I would think we would need both. At least at this point I have not heard of hypothermia being the answer to all problems. Guess we'll have to add another cooler so still have room for my personal meds :wink: .

I think we should make a new response to all newscasters that asked if it was a bad call, or for details about the call. Here goes a rough draft. "Yes, it was a nightmare. I broke out in a cold sweat as the realization hit me that I had not even had time to change underwear for several days. I am currently looking forward to debriefing." Maybe that would stop the glory seekers.

Cool, literally. It will be neat to see how the future improvements to care occur. Between trauma and cardiac and probably others yet released hypothermia may become common place treatment in pre-hospital care. I had read of this being done in bloodless surgery. It makes sense that we use the bodies own defense systems.

I'll be brief, yes I know that is unheard of by me. Doc BB good article. We should not be part of public safety. We should be healthcare professionals.

Does the service offer a free level and a paid level? I have not used that site but I have used others where if you pay you do not get ads or spam, while if you sign up for the free service you agree to recieving mail from the sponsors which is everyone it seems.

So doc I can just start giving morphine out like candy, because it can't be dangerous since you prescribe it to little old ladies with broken hips all the time.
