  4. I hate wasting money on frvolous things like living. You might try http://www.emtcity.com/index.php?showtopic=14445 Maybe it has something that will help. Admin has been working on all the bugs in this place.
  5. Great to know. Now we are reanswering it.
  6. He would be sent home. He would have to present with a form stating he can do the job and as EMS is sadly a good part driving he would have to be able to be on medicine that would allow driving otherwise he is not capable of doing the job he was hired for.
  7. So Doc are you a bad provider? I agree though. Not using these memory techniques does not a bad provider one make.
  8. Welcome back wantynu. hope business has been great.
  9. So do you accept it? Do you refuse it? Is it ethical? Is it moral?
  10. I think that if it becomes a specialty we will find more medical directors that take an active role. They then will start raising the standards for the people that work under them. Then this will finally lead to us having strict entry level standards and even see many of the worthless people we have today in EMS being removed from services.
  11. EMT Basic is not a years worth of material. It is not an education. It is a skills class. Why stretch it? 120 hours over 2 weeks is same as 120 hours stretched over a year. There is just not anything to this. It is a first aid course. The longest any basic course should be stretched is 3 months otherwise so much time is passing between classes you forget what little you have learned. Until EMT basic is increased by a bunch there is no point wasting time. If you go to class 3 hours a week you will not come out any better trained than doing it all in 2 weeks.
  12. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,508184,00.html Robot Teacher Makes Debut at Japanese School Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Reuters Saya the robot receptionist at work at Ben-Gurion University in Beersheba, Israel in February 2007. In what could be a harbinger of the future, elementary-school students in Tokyo are being taught by a robot. Saya is the result of 15 years of research and is being tested as a teacher after working as a receptionist. She — or it — is multilingual, can organize set tasks for pupils, call the roll and get angry when the kids misbehave. Saya is just one example of Japan's determination to put a robot in every home by 2015. The robot was originally developed for companies who want to cut costs by replacing office workers such as secretaries and receptionists with an android that had a range of human expressions.
  13. Go for it. It is just slightly more training than a boy scout gets for helping people. It will not count towards college. As soon as done find a college degree level Paramedic program and get some real education.
  14. Wish I had some popcorn.
  15. He was wrong. Again why is EMS the only medical field that claims its people need to stop at a level work, then go forward? Common sense says more education is the key to better patient care. For emphasis I qoute myself below.

  19. They're fired as they can no longer do their job. Why? Part of the job is driving.
  20. Thank you nursing home nurses for doing what familys can't or won't do. Thank you for showing love. Thank you for holding our parents and grandparents hands. Thank you for keeping them clean. Thanks for all that we in EMS never see nor are educated enough to do.
  21. UMMM Horse crap. Why are we the only medical profession that claims this crap?
  22. Weight limit for ambulance would be if ambulance tilts when you get in to your side your to fat. But in all honesty the right to work should be limited to those that can do the job. If you are fat, skinny, short, tall and can not do the job you should be fired. If you can't do the job physically or because you refuse to get proper education you should be fired. If you can't get down to patients level, help lift the cot, crawl into a car to help your patient, you should be fired.
  23. Yes I pass a permanent check point about 50 miles north of my home here on the boreder. Plus at times they set up temporary ones closer in to the border. Another big one is Interstate 10 has one east of El Paso TX at Sierra Blanca TX. All East bond traffic on the interstate gets stopped.
  24. Guess OP don't like us. At emt get a life she has replied several times. Explained a lot.
  25. You not only have to consider BP but also pulse. Yes a 20 point change would warrent ALS. But honestly ALS should be on all calls.
