  1. Our lp12 has paddles. We still use a lp10 as a backup. We even had a 12 lead adapter for the lp10.
  2. Yes it will allow you to work for the fire department on your days off. Why should a Paramedic that does not want to fight fire have to move to work? Heck even the IAFF has said it is impossible to do multiple tasks well.
  3. 4 months thats 3 and a half months to long. There are several 2 week basic courses. Heck in 4 months they would be a Paramedic from some diploma mills.
  4. And you produced nothing to disprove her or to add to a productive discussion.
  5. We have to tell the family to stop at the border patrol checkpoints as we don't stop. Border patrol does not take lightly to people speeding by w/o stopping.
  6. I wish they would donate some to my rural services so we could see if they actually hold up to real field abuse I mean use.
  7. Well considering whom you hang with already don't like you. Welcome to the site. Hey arizona did you tell that other chick your wife was going to be visiting on here so she knows not to talk to you? OOps was that outloud? Darn thought I sent a Private message. Welcome to the city. And if that itku2er type person posts ignore her, we all do so I'm sure someday she will leave. lol.
  8. Wow should I feel loved?
  9. LOL. You miss the whole point of being forced to be a fire fighter. If I who have no desire to be a firefighter want to work EMS there I am forced to become a firefighter. If someone wants to be a firefighter but hates medicine they are forced to learn medicine in order to get the fire fighter job. This leads to people being there that have no desire to be doing which ads risk to patients and in case of fire the other fire fighters. These are two very distinctly different professions.
  10. Lady: Oh what a pretty bracelet. Oh and look DNR my initials wonder what the odds of that are? boom crash. Medic: HMMM. DNR on bracelet. Time of death 1603.
  11. BLT
  12. Now that sucks. No airway equal death. Your system fails.
  13. But why do none of them do the one thing that would help every provider last longer and have the back door lifts?

  15. Could be state by state. Each state has guidelines for both.
  16. I believe a Living will is what you are referring to. I have one. It is very specific as to what procedures I am willing to accept and also when to disconnect the machines. I did this so my family will not have to make the difficult choices during an already stressful situation. It is different than a DNR.
  17. Sounds like you need to spend some time with Hospice. I suggest you volunteer some time with them and get a better understanding. As to why did they call? Maybe they need lifting assist. Maybe they paniced. Not your place to disregard the wishes of the patient. Sometimes familys call because they need assistance as they do not know how to do something and the hospice nurse or volunteer is unavailable. Go be a help not a sorce of stress in an already trying time.
  18. I agree. I hate when students fail to prepare then gripe. That is one reason I do so well in distance learning as I force myself to study in depth. I force myself to never settle for the skim the material and find key points to pass the test. Rid I would like to see you copy and paste your comments on the other sites you post on. Maybe it would help people get the idea they need to put some effort into it.
  19. You must honor the patients wishes. Often Hospice patients and there familys call just needing assistance like lifting or they panic. Do not try and force unwanted measures on the patient. Whether you agree or not it is their choice and their right to die with some control. There is nothing we can do that will save them so do only what you are asked. I hate people thinking they can force themselves where they do not belong. If they ask for assistance such as suctioning, fluids, etc. Do it. If they ask to go to the hospital. Do it. If they ask you to check vitals and help lift them. Do it. If they say do nothing else. Then do nothing else.
  20. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...aGfiAQD96QL64G0 Fumes force evacuation of 500 from Denver hospital 1 day ago DENVER (AP) — About 500 people have been evacuated from a hospital campus in Denver because of fumes from a mixture of hazardous chemicals. National Jewish Health spokesman William Allstetter says most of those evacuated Monday were staff members. About 35 people were taken to other hospitals for treatment, mostly for nausea and respiratory irritation. The evacuations included about 90 children who were at the hospital. Allstetter says chlorine and hydrochloric acid were spilled or inadvertently mixed during maintenance work at a swimming pool on the hospital campus. Allstetter says three buildings were evacuated, but the main hospital wasn't affected and doctors are still seeing patients. (This version CORRECTS that the pool was undergoing maintenance, not cleaning) Copyright © 2009 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
  21. http://www.jems.com/news_and_articles/arti...cheal_tube.html "What About Patient Outcomes? Prehospital procedures and methodologies have been more closely scrutinized in the literature during recent years. Some have been found efficacious, some have not. Ultimately, the question medical directors must ask is, "Does this procedure or practice improve patient outcomes?" Prior to recent research, outcome data was unknown or extrapolated from other disciplines. One of the principal areas of study has been prehospital ETI, and the literature is mixed. " Gene Gandy for those that have not met him is an old Paramedic educactor as well as a lawyer. I had priveledge of meeting him and having him instruct me in skills portions. Plus he is the author of many of the lessons in class.
  22. I did give my opinion. I would like some more experienced including the docs to break this one down for. Sincerely lost student.
  23. Maybe they understand that there is no point to fire response either and decided to take action? Actually this could back to the bullet/stab resistant post. Wouldn't it absorb some of the body blows, allowingyou to keep defending yourself?
  24. Always knew you were a whacker. I'll check with services in my area.
