  1. Please provide a link. Going several hundred feet in seconds on a skate board would lead to dead Paramedics.
  2. Nothing to hide and nothing for a friend or family member to see. Liability. Guess what the dead persons family will sue the ambulance serice even though the wreck was the other persons fault because of deep pockets. Also family member freaks out and causes crash or interfers with treatment. So guess what try and force your way into my ambulance you just got a one way ticket to jail.
  3. No you wouldn't and if you tried to force your way you would be arrested. We will not move the ambulance till you are removed. So you just harmed the person you claim to love by being unreasonable. Even when we take a parent they ride in the cab not in the patient compartment. They have to be seatbelted.
  4. Has this been confirmed? I mean in that it is not just another frightening email.
  5. Many doctors will prescribe items for a diasaster preparation kit. In fact it is highly recommended by survival experts that you have certain antibiotics and pain meds as well as all your regular daily needs meds. Look at the quanitys not like he has enough to supply the neighborhood.
  6. Howdy sweetwater or is that snyder.
  7. I agree but we have no phone or radio contact in much of my area so we just treat and if we have to vary from guidelines we notify the Medical Director later. But with our liberal guidelines hard to have to vary very often.
  8. Well 3 dead including a passenger in the ambulance. This is why we say no to anyone but the patient being with us. It is dangerous for us no need to add more potential victims to the equation. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...9tZDUgD96H1NL00 "Police say a 71-year-old man in the ambulance, a friend of the person being transported, died at the scene. Two medics and the patient suffered minor injuries." http://www.kvoa.com/Global/story.asp?S=9888006&nav=HMO6
  9. I love having no medical control to call. I have to make a diagnosis and treat. It is sad to see people that can not handle that pressure.
  10. Surely there is no rule breaking taking place. No one would ever do that.
  11. Just pointing out that we can live with low levels for a while if problem corrected. "That evening Mrs. M. underwent another surgical procedure. All active bleeding was stopped but Mrs. M. 's hemoglobin had dropped to a dangerous 2.3 g/dL (normal range for females: 12.0 - 16.0 g/dL). Mrs. M was immediately placed on a regimen of Procrit and intravenous iron to enhance her body's production of blood. She required assistance with her breathing for a few days. Five days after being rushed to The University Hospital in very serious condition she was transferred to the progressive care unit with a hemoglobin level of 5.0 g/dL, where she was able to sit up in bed, eat real food and visit with her many happy visitors. Mrs. M continued to regain her strength and was eventually discharged home with a hemoglobin of 6.6 g/dL (and climbing) twelve days after the doctors at the other local hospital had stated that nothing more could be done for her. 12. No problem you have grasped what is common sense that a diagnosis of some sort must be made to treat. That diagnosis may evolve over time and with more tests. Yet many have said and even many books say we do not diagnos. And that just gets my goat.
  13. But it is a diagnosis, field, working or otherwise. Occasionally it is actually the final diagnosis once confirmed by the doctor.
  14. Would you push a cardiac drug say Adenosine w/o some sortof diagnosis?

    Arming EMT's

What a waste of tax payer funds and harm to the environment. That is way to much equipment and people for the average call. No wonder cali is in such a financial crap hole.
  16. If patient is altered mentally as he was based on description you can not use selective spinal immobization. If still in car KED even.
  17. Can I get an AMEN? AMEN. We are Pre Hospital Medical Professionals.
  18. Please get to stepping then as we need people that want to stay and make Paramedicine a real profession. And yes calis FD ambulance drivers suck. Please use the search feature and you will find discussions with plenty of facts backing that statement up.

  20. Might be better that the OP not say what state or company so as not to get black balled.
  21. http://www.firegrantsupport.com/ You do not have to be a fire dept EMS to qualify.
  22. "Global Thermonuclear War"
  23. I see your points but disagree. Sorry. I think you dull the publics perception of emergency by over playing in public. I could be wrong but just disagree based on my opinion.
  24. I see the benefit I just do not think the benefit out weighs the risk. Again L&S are way over used. If used less often people would pay more attn when they were actually needed which is probably less than 10% of all calls.
