Quality post so I will forgive you this time for getting our hopes up about you not posting. Especially point 3. All of us can say what works what we have seen but if you really want to see if marriage 3 can be saved seek out counsel.

Has not hurt my marriage. 2009 will be our 20th anniversary. EMS became my mistress many years ago but my wife knows I am faithful to her and trusts me. I think to often trust issues play a huge part, either the EMS person worrys about what spouse does while gone and vice versa. Plus some can not leave there EMS family when off duty so their real family suffers and that can cause divisions that grow. When off duty it is me and my family. I do not spend all day talking/texting the people I work with, that time belongs to my family. We spend quality time, and I get lots of honey do time which I could do without so much but thats another thread. But why you are on your third could be any number of reasons, maybe none related to EMS.

Brought back to life for new posters that have brought up denying.
-
Jax I got it. Thanks. Keep in mind I to have the right to deny transport. I actually have the right to treat, including using many of our drugs, then not take them to the hospital. The reason I have problems with your topic was the way you presented it, but do not feel bad I had many fights about it when I first joined. Because of some of those disagreements I have found some things that I automatically denied I take more time with and actually occasionally transport the 90 miles to the nearest hospital. In the decades that our service has had the privilege we have never had anyone die because we said no. Keep posting but think it out carefully but don't be shocked at the replys, remember we have people of all types of backgrounds and types of services here. That is why we enjoy this site. Here is a great example: http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...highlight=lunch

Actually if they are low income they qualify for grants something my kids do not. If they are in the middle class they qualify for student loans and can work multiple jobs like the rest of us to pay. Race is no excuse not to get an education in this day and age. Actually some of the most educated people I have met were black. One was a very successful doctor whom I was very good friends with and he was born in the 30's. So hey guess what people get education if they really want it. And I know many white familys that have yet to have a family member get to go to college either. So race is not the factor. Yes there is discrimination in all races. I am discriminated against daily as I am one of the few white people in a hispanic border town. So yes discrimination happens but it is not just white people that are bad it is every race. Heck even amongst same race there is discrimination because the shade of skin color is to light, to dark, hair is blond, hair is to brown, etc. Life is not fair for any of us. And discussions like what you are running with crotch actually lead to people to start believing stereo types. If I did not know better you might be pushing me to develope anti other race attitudes.

I have 2 styles of Kila myself. Like them. Well worth the money.

That or does he own a gun? Be a shame if because you did not man up some innocent kid one day walks by with toilet paper and he shoots them. And yes things like that do happen.

Please send to me as I asked early on. Thanks.

I definitly want a bathroom break before we leave. Call in what ever agency you use to schedule proper transportation and security.

Call didn't turn out the way I expected.....

Arrogant, ignorant, stupid, idiotic is all I can say about that statement. Please provide the documentation as doc asked. -

Crotch get up to date. Heck read the research. If not please don't waste everyones time. I do not treat the machine I treat the patient, but you know what that diabetic can also have a stroke in fact I believe some studys say they are at higher risk for it. So just because they are diabetic does not mean they need glucose. At times you do need to treat based on what the machine says along with a complete exam. You are the one that tried to argue to save X number of people well now you are arguing against a change that has been proven to better patient outcome. The coma cocktail days are over if you still want them you are more detrimental to patients than the "lazy" medics that encourage patients that do not need an ambulance to refuse transport. Edit: Doc beat me to it but I'm still leaving my post. -
Call didn't turn out the way I expected.....

Thanks Doc for the answer. It is important that we stay up to date with current findings. I wonder how many more people have been harmed by those doing the coma cocktail because its always been done that way. I would bet if a true unbiased study were done it would find more harm with it that harmed by being denied transport. But thats another problem for maybe another topic. -

I agree with Ruff, sounds like the family waited to long to get help. You did what you could in the field. Glad to hear that you checked glucose level rather than just pushing the old coma cocktail. -
Couldn't we all just use your password? But hey docs please give us some info on this subject. As a student I am now really curious but I have not found any info on it. Thanks Ruff.

Does young at heart count? I have met some young Paramedics that were OK. But honestly most I have met did not seem to grasp the responsibility that they had. They have not experienced enough in life to understand the true value of life. ( Did that make sense? ) I also see the bad Paragod attitude in them more often. Yes I said bad. Some that people call Paragods are called that because others do not like that they actually know their job and are darn good at it. They do not treat others badly they just expect everyone to actually do their job. So in my opinion we should set a minimum age of 25 to be a Paramedic in charge. Maybe allow the younger Paramedics to be a third person so they get experience.

Odd Request - Wireless Emergency Lights/Sirens
spenac replied to Zach Smith's topic in Equiqment and Apparatus
Sorry never heard of a wireless system. Closest I have seen would be the type that plug into the 12 volt power port. From experience though I have found as I respond from my house on my part time job that when I used a light it saved me less than 30 seconds, and often almost created another call as people panic when they see lights and hear sirens. I no longer have a light as the service would not cover the expense for it and also in reading the policy book they did not protect me in the event I was involved in a wreck on the way to the station. Another side point is will your insurance cover you if you are responding L&S in your car? If you do not find a wireless system though it would be a money maker for whoever designs it, especially if it can be done cheaply. Now I may have to start tinkering during my free time. -
You have responded to a "Rape"
spenac replied to crotchitymedic1986's topic in Education and Training
Rape crisis center where I used to live gave free training to those interested in assisting rape victims. Perhaps there are programs like that out there that could become part of all EMS education programs. -
Thought I would save you some time.........

Now we got you admin. This is your evil plot. Now if Austin Powers can just find a way to foil your fail proof plan. Groovy Baby. -
Yup hazing harms no one. Harmed his checkbook when what honestly everyone knew was going on but probably finally went one step to far so he became the fall guy. High enough up the chain to make it look like they really care but low enough not to make it look like it is as large a problem as it is.

Just wanting the questions answered so bumping.
-
No you were stoned for how you presented it. As the most vocal for the right to deny transport on here many have agreed with some things and politely explained why they would not on others. Just method of delivery. As to changing to essential no change would occur. We just will have to start enforcing what an emergency truly is. Some of that in my opinion would include explaining politely on scene that the stubbed toe is not a true emergency even if it is the worst thing that person has ever faced. Then we assist them in dialing a taxi to take them to the hospital.

Welcome back. Congrats on the rug rat.

Somebody posted that or similiar sometime back. Seems it led to some heated debate at some point, but don't all topics nowadays.
-
Yes sir. Nothing better than miles and miles of beautiful mountains with limited human impact. Rare nowadays.

Maybe left arm closer to heart leading to blood being forced against the weak spot thus completing the tear. I do not recall that in any of my text books, Dr Bledsoe can correct me if I missed it in his, as can the writers of the other Paramedic texts. I to look forward to the real answer.
