  1. LOL If you were warned about ERDoc your hanging out with the wrong crowd. Now Dwayne
  2. Number one I am not self righteous. I have clearly stated I am all for fun. Yes I realize fun relieves stress and actually can unite a crew. But practical jokes that can do harm, can delay care, can make us look unprofessional should not and actually have no place in EMS. A verbal joke or prank that is cleared up on same shift so false rumors don't get around and accidentally ruin someones reputation are questionable but again if they are cleared up before can be fun. But sadly I have seen a good funny joke get started then the crews on duty run none stop. Crews not knowledgeable of the prank then found the material about the one being pranked and a reputation was ruined. It took a long time to convince all that learned about it that the entire thing was a joke. So even a joke that did not delay care caused harm. In fact some still think administration is covering up the issue by claiming it was a harmless joke. So again I say have fun but do it so no physical or even reputations are harmed. In my department I'm actually known to be very fun, yet I have never physically done anything to anyone or anyones equipment and I have not harmed their reputation. Dwayne at times your posts shock me and honestly this time it did.
  3. Dude changing uniforms after a tone is delaying patient care and yes people with respiratory problems can die. Time to grow up.
  4. HAHAHA NOT. Tone drops and you look like a moron responding. Plus as mentioned by someone else you could trigger respiratory problems in fact the powder on your clothes could make your patient have more difficulty. I can not believe we have this many unprofessional people in our profession.
  5. That was a great topic. We had some great times in that discusion.
  6. Nope because some idiot would go try it. As to watching sex at work that should not be done either.
  7. There are good and bad charter schools. If you have kids check out the schools real close.
  8. I saw something similiar and the partys that placed the stinky item ended up have to pay for his interior to be replaced as some odors to not go away. This is the stupidist worse than childlike actions I have ever heard of. Thank goodness you are out of EMS crotch or I would have to ask you to leave it.
  9. Wow crotch did it again he wasted my time. Where do I send the bill for my time?
  10. What they've all dealt with you?
  11. So crotch what are you trying to bait now. Because as much as you annoy me I can not believe you are serious. When are you going to spring the if you do this why not that or this or the other. Horseplay and hazing are not professional and do harm patient care. I will have no part of anything that harms my patients, whether directly or indirectly. All for fun but not at the expense of mine or my patients well being.
  12. Sadly they get the same limited education as the 6 month course.
  13. Fire that explains it. Hazing has no place in EMS.
  14. And I'm already eating my popcorn.
  15. Actually been in EMS a long time. Thankfully no one stupid enough to do anything like that to me. First time anyone were to attempt any physical horseplay they would wake up later after in self defense I dropped them. Then they would be in jail charged with assault. I am all for a fun work environment but there should be no horseplay as it leads to harm to each other and worse our patients.
  16. No I am a professional I am not at the good old boys club. Plus everything you described could harm patient care, whether by delays or even distracting care givers.
  17. I'm disappointed in you. Seriously even if nothing was delayed this time what happens next time when someone gets hurt and patient care is delayed. And even if you met the bogus out the door times is it possible you could have been out the door a few seconds quicker w/o the practical jokes. I'm all for fun but nothing physical. I do not want my clothes or boots messed up. I want to look professional, KY smeared on my clothes from the door incident makes me look dirty.
  18. That brings another question how many states actually fund EMS at all. In Texas there are grants but no actual here let us chip in money to help EMS. Thinking about it EMS needs to demand state and federal money since so many accidents occur on state or federal highways.
  19. Arguing between crotch and spenac is statistically a waste of time. At least thats what 86.47302% of 0.026738% of EMTCITY readers think.
  20. Practical jokes have no business in EMS. They can lead to injurys or worse delays in response when calls come in. First rule is do no harm to our patients. If a joke delays response you've done harm.
  21. Actually privates will be hit hardest first. Plus privates can not survive transporting people with no ability to pay.
  22. Actually EMS is not considered an essential service. In fact in Texas for example the only essential service, that is the only required service is one sheriff per county. Cops, EMS, fire etc are optional. So in theory if budget cuts were made which would be the least likely to stir up the blue hairs? EMS because we are not thought of as heros like cops and fire. No one sees us saving lives like they see in news of FF's and cops. So guess what they can drop us claim hay we still have cops and ff's everythings alright.
  23. Even when you look at most 6 month basic courses they really are only that long because they only meet for a couple hours each week with maybe a Saturday or 2 thrown in. Maybe more time to digest but really still only learned bandaging and splinting. In fact the two week basic courses have been around for at least a decade. For a real change need it to be part of the paramedic degree program. Basic would then only be a temporary position that allows you to be out getting some patient contact w/o being completely in the way.
