  1. Actually crotch not all are dishonest like you sound like you must be. When I or any of the other EMS people I work with have realized they made a mistake they have reported it so the hospital would know that wrong treatment etcf was done. None of those mistakes led to death. Again I would propose that 99.99999999999999999999999978653421% of all EMS mistakes do not lead to death or even long term problems. See I an throw unsupported percentages out there to. EMS is and should be an honorable profession. Thankfully those I work with are not above reporting their mistakes as they put patients above themselves.
  2. Good illustration of the stupidity of proposed idiotic suggestion. In fact I would have to vote this entire topic as the stupidist idea of 2008. I agree you should never force a refusal. If they do not need the ambulance deny them transport and write it up as a denial not a refusal. To force a refusal is fraud, be honest if they refuse they refuse, if you do not want to transport because they do not need transport write up a denial.
  3. None of my patients or my 4 services I have been actively involved(over 5 years time span) with have had patients that refused or we denied transport to die after we drove away. I live and work in small communitys so if someone died I would know. So thousands of patients no deaths as a result of using common sense to say no to transporting a patient or accepting a patients refusal. Even if you factor a 1% mistake ratio most mistakes still would not result in death. Most would only lead to delay in care or wrong medicine with no long term adverse results. Even you figures based on deaths as result of hospital mistakes is less than 1% so what the hell are trying to claim now? I can not believe this double posting obviously trolling topic has lasted so many pages. I can not believe I wasted my time responding.
  4. Vent I do not assume. But lately you seem to be assuming that all paramedics are uneducated back water in bred trailer trash flunkys. I mentioned what I mentioned because you brought up that the type of nurses and docs failing were those w/o the responsibility do perform these skills often. I just showed you that there are those that are expected to run a code really just as we are in the field that were unable to pass. So now that brought out the why fight education. I do not fight against education. I have advocated increased education. Do I think any of these card courses are worth more than a refresher of what we should already know? No I don't. I do not even admit to having them except when required to update my file so my pay check keeps coming. I even think it is stupid that some services give a little extra each check for each alphabet card you have. So my point vent is try and not lump us all as stupid, lately you really have gone from productive posts that I learned from to always bashing in my opinion.
  5. You are this is a duplicate topic that crotch is trying to force his opinion again with.
  6. Vent we often take our alphabet courses at the hospital. The ones that have to stay for remediation are most often the doctors, RN's including ER and ICU and yes the airway people  . I have only seen one EMS have to remediate and that was an EMT-B in his first ACLS. So your theory may work where you are but does not mean all hospitals are the same.
  7. This is bull crap. There is no reason. Plus your numbers are far more flawed than if I said 99% of all 911 callers did not need an ambulance. If your people can not do the job they should be fired. And in fact all ambulance services should even adopt guidelines to deny transport to those that do not need it. If a patient refuses, they refuse it is on them. If they do not need an ambulance we should tell them so and drive away. I also suggest that this topic be locked as it has already been discussed on several current topics and is in no way in need of another one.
  8. Here's original: http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13707
  9. Actually was a topic about a week ago. As to having to have supervisors witness refusals. Bull crap. If you can not trust your people fire them.
  10. Once you go bougie you'll never go back.
  11. I would say EMS was definitely circling the drain way before ACLS was dumbed down. Perhaps it did put the final nail in the coffin.
  12. I do not deny that unions at one point did great things for the american worker. But now I think they go to the extreme. But this can also be said for really most groups. Anti-gun groups for example go to the extreme take all guns. Yet NRA and others want the other extreme. I understand that you push for all you can do but I have seen unions cost jobs when plants closed. Are the car companys innocent no they are at the other extreme. There needs to be some give and take, but both sides just want to take and sadly in the end there are going to be major job losses that will hurt the nations and worlds economy even more.
  13. Actually that is more proof that unions can harm us. W/o wage concessions there may be no jobs. I'd rather lose some of my pay rather than all of my pay.
  14. I brought up that matter and it's a wonder I still have a job. They did not like my way of saving money that would allow us more money for essential services. Guess between reading emails, gossip, donut, coffee, smoking etc there is just no free time to clean up. So I suggested the contract for cleaning should extend to our station then. That did not fly very well either. So guess the janitor for the offices are essential but ems is not.
  15. The education while limited is still beneficial. It will help you grasp what is done in a code. In the USA many services require current ACLS, PALS, and CPR cards to work.
  16. So save money rather than provide quality? You can be a jack of all trades master of none or focus and become a master. I want the master working on my family.
  17. Yeah whats up with that crap? Oh never mind. But seriously many I know read this site but choose not to post as most times someone has already posted something close to their opinion. Plus they choose not to get drawn into some of the worthless debates we have here at times. They also know that employers can and do look for what people put online, so to avoid saying something that could be used against them they remain silent.
  18. You might want to change from meet and greet to EMS discussion. But all the alphabet courses really mean little other than you have had a quick overview of the topic.
  19. Here is a discussion we had on the site about EMS not being required service: http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...t=ems+essential
  20. Welcome to the site. Hope your sight is good. Have fun. EMS=Eat More Stuff

  22. Anybody in USA with these yet?
  23. The one I'm thinking of is like those in England where the back door folds down. Wheel cot onto it. Entire door lowers flat to ground. After words wheel patient on cot back onto it. Lifts level. Push cot in, then door closes. Medics do no lifting. In the topic I mentioned there are pictures of it. http://www.emtcity.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.ph...+back+door+lift
  24. Search Ruffems contest. He did one for designing ambulance. Might find some ideas from that topic. Search spenac ambulance back door lift for some other ideas.
  25. Mostly calls that sound good when dispatched to only turn out to be people that really do not need an ambulance.
