One of the city's top cardiac specialists died. At his funeral, his coffin was placed in front of a huge replica of a heart made of red roses. When the pastor finished the sermon and everyone said their good-byes, the large heart opened up, the coffin rolled inside, and the heart closed again. It was a Majestic tribute to the much loved cardiologist. Suddenly, one of the mourners burst into a fit of laughter. Irritated by his insensitivity, the man sitting next to him asked, "Why are you laughing, Mister?" "I was just thinking about my own funeral," the man replied. "I'm a Gynaecologist ......."

Fire/EMS animosity could have been fatal
aussiephil replied to HERBIE1's topic in Education and Training
Volunteer or not, the ire crew should be stood down pending a full investigation. If they are that 'amped' lone, then the whole crew need to be mentally assessed. To put anyone at risk like that is totally unacceptable, regardless of voluntary or paid services. The moron driving the BRT should be banned for life & never allowed to hold a position like that as either a volly or paid EVER. If that is their mentality, then thay are not needed. No I dont like fire. No I am not a fan of vollies. But this action is just dumb. -
Could be something to do with your comment about (or aboot for our canadian friends ) being accident prone. Could equally be good for spenac, he appears to be beating his head against a brick wall here.

I have done time managment courses. They are not compatable with EMS. They rely on predictability, routine, & repetition. EMS has none of those, ergo, waste of time. Depending on what I have going on, i will study for recertification, we talk through protocol changes as a team. However, I am proficient at Project IGI, IGI 2, GTA3........ The extensive DVD collection gets used frequently......... as does the iPod touch. I also read fiction, tends to be a good distraction. chbare, you need a life man.

P_Instructor. You can be our hero. Your statment should have offended most here. Your reference to those responding as is offensive. Most of these people have tremendous experience in dealing with trauma, medica & Mental Health issues. They do not however have their head in their ass thinking they are better than others because they are instructors. The simple fact that this person has admitted to taking 20 tablets, regardless of what they were is indicitive they wanted to commit self harm. Further, the presense of ETOH, or any other drug for that matter, is a second factor & this patient needs a full mental health assessment & the threat should be taken seriously.

Certainly this is an understatment.

Get real. No one in their right mind will tell you to do anything other than see a Dr. Public forums are not a webdoctor.

A man wakes up one morning in Alaska to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages and sure enough, there's an ad for 'Bear Removers.' He calls the number, and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a shotgun and a mean old pit bull. 'What are you going to do,' the homeowner asks? 'I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van.' He hands the shotgun to the homeowner. 'What's the shotgun for?' asks the homeowner. 'If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog

Well said. I will start by saying I am Full - time EMS. I have no need to go to fire. I am a professional. Firefighting is a seperate profession. I do not want glory or credit. Conversely, Fire need glory & credit to perpetuate their facade of pretending to work hard & need the media to perpetuate the lies. Oh look, I said this in an earlier post... Now we can again watch fire try to justify itself

Personal Responsibility and Patient Care.

Can I refer you to the following threads on this non subject & the farce called the golden hour. The Golden Hour/Platinum Ten The Golden Hour - is it a real principal for EMS -
That is giving too much credit for intelligence & the ability to think to the hose monkeys,

A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police officer, also a blonde. The blonde police officer asked to see the blonde driver's licence. The sports car driver dug through her purse and was getting progressively more agitated. ”What does it look like?” she finally asked. The policewoman replied, “It's square and it has your picture on it.” The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at it and handed it to the policewoman. “Here it is,” she said. The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying, “Okay, you can go. I didn't realise you were a cop.”

An elderly gent was invited to an old friends home for dinner one evening. He was impressed by the way his buddy preceded every request to his wife with endearing terms such as: Honey, My Love, Darling, Sweetheart, Pumpkin, etc. The couple had been married almost 70 years and, clearly, they were still very much in love. While the wife was in the kitchen , the man leaned over to his host, 'I think it's wonderful that, after all these years, you still call your wife those loving pet names 'The old man hung his head. 'I have to tell you the truth,' he said, 'Her name slipped my mind about 10 years ago and I'm scared to death to ask the cranky old bitch what her name is.'

You know the best part of Aussieland - NO COMBINED SERVICES. Yes kids, we do not share with fire, we are independent of fire. A seperate service. We have no Medical Control to try to dictate what we do we are autonomous. Bugger me. Maybe there are better options on offer than just what is un the good ole USA.

Anyone with EMS training knows this, however, what do people see on TV? A Big Red Truck, or a MVA surrounded by FF's. Then the FF's take the credit. We have even had situations here where we have had major road ttrauma, fire have agknowledged every other service but EMS, but stated the patient went to hospital. We aim to minimise scene time, for patient benefit, they look to maximise scene time for their own publicity & perpetuation of the lies that they are the real hero's.

Play w/ Breasts, Lose Paramedic Cert., Remain Fire Chief, Priceless!
aussiephil replied to spenac's topic in EMS News
So it aooears acceptable to be a deviant & a FF (must be something to do with holding the hose) but not in EMS. Could this be another example of double standards? -
Only those ones?

This has gone off track. The purpose of this advertisment is to shock young people into NOT trying to be morons in the first place. If people are stupid enough to do it regardless, then they must face those consequences. They are not what is up for debate here. Lets get back to the video & the softly softly approach of sone authorities & the attitudes of people to this type of advertisment. Remember this isnt just about texting, with the proliferation of Twitter & facebook on mobile devices, this is becoming a bigger problem than most appreciate. It is nothing to do with speed, street racing etc.

There is everything wrong with them running out of the 'firehouse'. EMS is & always will be a seperate profession to the hose monkeys & should be treated as such. EMS, as has been demonstrated in other posts, does more work than fire ever will. So should we rename it an EMS house? With fire controlled by EMS? I cant see that happening so why should it happen as it does now?????? Seperate the services & make fire justify their existance on their core business if fighting fires. Then we will see who survives.

Lets see how intelligent they were. Dog remains Stereo speaker Dog remains Stereo speaker. I can see a similarity, I mean god forbid we might actually help these people out. Another fine example of Fire incompetence.

Congrats Ruff, Mrs Ruff & miniRuff!!!!! Now the fun begins.
-
Another fine example of why EMS & Firs should be seperate & left that way

Ruff my prayers are with you & your wife & baby at this time. I hope all goes well. Phil
