  1. Dang - maybe I'll rethink my travel plans to australia ! Those drop bears look like freakin koala's on steroids !
  2. SA Medic would be a fantastic resource for you - If I am correctly he is actively employed in SA as a medic. Good luck !
  3. You guys can come work with me anyday: Wanted : Healthcare providers to act as decoys for local EMS personnel. Must be rather large to assist in adequate cover to both partners. Pay and benefits suck, but you'll get the satisfaction of knowing that if you are the chosen target, that at least the locals can aim well and you will be well medicated in your passage as hospitals are a luxury not a neccessity in outlying areas. All types of medics welcome, but ones with a shallow gene pool preferred to assist in reduction of holler rats. Gun toting permitted and encouraged. E-mail at don'tshootmegrandpa@saveme.com for application, interview and target practice.
  4. All I know is I'm sick and tired of people going oh poor tiger - he's lost all his sponsorships and things. He's gonna be poor, well buddy - shoulda thought about that before. Guess ya were thinking with the wrong head there.
  5. Who knew when they invented nintendo years ago that this would be included? Or that phil's mind would travel so far into the gutter...wow technology has come a long way and left phil's mind behind !
  6. Wow, poor dog - but what I'd really like to know is how the heck did this thing end up on this guy's property? Phil - you guys don't just have kangaroos hanging out in your backyard do you? Craziness !
  7. Best wishes and hopes for a speedy return to the streets !
  8. Just another side of the fence...
  9. Thanks - was just curious to see what side of the fence you were coming from. Always good to get different inputs. Don't knock yourself for bein in the ICU - lots of good experience to be gained there. Take care and stay safe.
  10. Heck, when all else fails, feed 'em chicken mcnuggets
  11. There's plenty here Kaisu - and there's been more than one person deposited in them by the "redneck mafia" lol. Take care, and keep your head up. Do not hang it - look 'em square in the eye and dare them to bring it on. You've done nothing wrong and a good lawyer will back you. It'll be aight - either way you are a good person and I'd be pleased to have someone dedicated to education and patient care working on a department with me. And I'm sure many others would as well.
  12. That is very dependent on the dept. I have worked some places where it was allowed, and if they had a fight prior to coming into work, it made for an absolutely miserable shift for everyone. Yes, it convenient for them, but heaven help you. Another dept I worked with allowed same shift, but not same station. Another allowed same shift, but not partners. Just depends on the dept and what they want to tolerate. Frankly I think husband/wife teams on same shift or as partners is just a recipe for a disaster. We had one dept that had two husband and wife teams - both in the middle of a divorce, and working on shift with them was absolutely miserable to the point almost everybody was applying for transfers and eventually led to splitting them and placing at entirely different stations. It's not fun. Just better not to start it, then try to fix it later.
  13. Regardless they are heartless jerks ! If you see someone and in uniform, if you don't at least offer basic first aid, then you are just as responsible in my eyes than if you were called there and refused to treat the patient. Not cool people, not cool. I'm incredibly sorry for her family that this was the face of FDNY that they saw. Obviously from what we see from the other gentleman that's in the boot story, there are some good ones out there that love their job and care about their paychecks. What a shame the boots kept him from being able to respond. I don't lump them all in a bad batch, there are some good ones, and it's not fair to them to have this stigma placed on them. A bad situation all the way around.
  14. Nah Jake, the best thing about Raleigh is it's not Greenville lol. Gotta watch out for that Jake - he's a character
  15. Ummm woops - not the first time nor is it likely the last time this has happened. Just hope they learned something !
  16. Thanks - I was thinking I was seriously misinformed as I've been telling my students as such. Always good to clarify !
  17. Now, now penguins don't eat their young ! We're a friendly lot ! No worries on that one - mumble, gloria, and all their friends are safe (especially Lovelace - that crazy one with the pepsi 6 pack thing stuck around it's neck - kinda reminds me of kiwi combined with AK )
  18. I was under the impression that NREMT exam was adaptive testing - am I incorrect in this? If so, then my complaint opinion changes drastically. Please clarify for me, because to my knowledge it was more of an adaptive test delegating a certain number of questions and difficulty based on prior responses. Or am I misunderstanding it entirely ? Thanks !
  19. Well at least we've progressed from equine excrement...was starting to worry there for a bit. Now we just gotta watch for kiwi and his elephant friend !
  20. Darn - 411 anybody? I know yahoo has a yellow pages - somebody give 'em a ring - I'm curious now !
  21. That's the PETA I'm a member of - piped up with that one day in class and instructor started laughin so hard he couldn't stop ! Talk about some fun times !
  22. CBT is nice with the exception of one thing - if you realize that something is wrong once you have submitted it, you have no opportunity to go back and change it whereas with paper you can. Also, you cannot answer the questions you know that you are familiar with leaving the others until later to be answered. This frequently allows the student to build confidence. It definitely is of benefit though to those that are very comfortable with the material. As with anything though, some students do not test well for a variety of reasons and that should be addressed long before you get to this point to have those anxieties settled, and students should have a preparatory in similar style for them to take to be comfortable with the format. Just my thoughts on that.
