  11. it is amazing just how people can abuse the lights.. and sirens rules.. I def agree... i think that certain types of lights.. IE the red and the blue etc.. should make u provide proof of being either Fire/EMS or LEO. wether it is as simple as showing a valid fire department id/dl etc... or some other way... any one else agree w/ me?
  12. Hey i am just wondering... Getting to know some of yall.. but just currious.. who is a career person, who is volunteer, or who works for a Private Transport. Just currious as to what the make up of the people on here are
  13. I think if you know that you are going to need them get them laid out on the board... and then place them on the pt... otherwise they don't get used...
  14. I think that would be most people in FIRE and EMS... we are def. an odd breed...
  15. I am not an ALS provider yet... and have not taken ACLS but that is BullS**T that they would want you to do that... if i am taking arecert class... i want to be damn sure that i know what is going on... and that i know what i am doing.. the nerve of some people out there is just astonishing.... i would be tempted to not give them the recert based off of that (and I am losely saying that for any certification type thing)
  16. what would it take to get people (ie governmental people) to help make these changes? anyone got thoughts on that... i think that would def help advance us into the more "professional" connoteation that should go w/ ems... whether your paid or vol.
  17. 678.. that is a very interesting way of looking at it... got some valid points... anyone else every heard anything about this kinda suggestion?
  18. Hey I heard some medics discussing this one the other day... just currious what everyone out here thinks. I just want to know what the differences are.. and what other ALS providers out there think of them... thnx
  19. we opperate very similar to how VillageEMT's squad runs.... i am glad i have never been in that possition.. but that is why I don't want to become a chief some day... besides.. i don't want to deal w/ the BS that goes along w/ being anything higher than a sgt. or an lt.. hope your friend understands and that everything works out....
  20. some places have Light controled ones.. some are siren.. some are transponder controlled...
  21. Does your city/county etc have it set up so that your units control the stop lights when your responding? just curious...
  22. We carry them on the truck... we have to prove we can use them once or twice every couple years... but we hardly ever use them in the field... there has been only one call where we were getting ready to use them.. but the helo arrived before we could get them on... so we just left him strapped to the backbord... this guy was fkd up anyway... and we had quickly loaded him onto the spine board and headed for the LZ... bagging him the whole way.... any injury you can think of he had... guy died on the OR table... but yeah... so we don't really use them that often
  23. I am starting to get back into shape... after I graduated from high school i kinda stopped exercising as much.. but now i am getting involved w/ the Spec Ops/TECH rescue stuff @ my squad and i am realizing i need to be in better shape... so i have started to work out again.
