Ryder, my service has had RSI for the last 6yrs so actually it's nothing new to me. There are however some services who have to call for orders, my service has standing orders for RSI. I work rural EMS and am at least 35min. from ANY hosp.

If it needs to be done, you have the protocol, are trained properly, and have the backing of your service then what's the problem? Everybody is going to have their own opinion on this. I have done a handful of RSI's and every one that I did the Pt. benefited tremendously from it. I have been trained on it properly, went through a class with the head of anesthesiology at our med control facility and have been checked off on it through my service. We use Lido, Atropine, Versed and Mivacron.....
