  1. I am a paragod it's who I are, bow at the knees of Zog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. At the time they were booked with all you stinking Kiwis who want to be doctors but can't because of some freaking visa issues. The Clarion Inn had rooms but the Jingle "I stayed at the Clarian" doesn't make any sense now does it.
  3. Oh, no I didn't take it far enough. ha ha ha h ah I got ya though. But seriously, we didn't have that protocol. I wish we did so I was stuck with having to go mother may I all over the doctor. He gave me the okelie dokelie and I gave the benedryl much to the relief of the patient. If they would just let me play doctor like they do after I stay at a holiday inn express all would be good in my little world. Damn them
  4. I'm not sure I'd go that far Dfib.
  5. Hmmm looking at Steven Hawking how debilitated his body is I wonder what he lives for? I mean he is a pretty damn good writer and he seems pretty full of his faculties. someone like him with his body a wreck would surely not be worth saving right? how bout the person who's mind is gone but can run a mile in 6 minutes? All he does is run but his mind is shot. What about the idiot savant who's mind is so sharp but his body is out of it? Who are we to say that they are not worth saving. I know someone who thought they knew better in who was not worth living and who was. I think his first name was Adolf. Let's not go down this road folks. All the above people listed would not be deemed savable according to the above person. There are people out there who we deem not valuable but to someone close to them they are very valuable. Put yourself in their shoes, just because you are on the EMS end of the equation, does not make you the one to make that decision. What if those we are discussing are your loved ones? The discussion takes on a different meaning right? We can put ourselves at arms length as a EMS provider and say "this guy is bedridden, has no quality of life" so he doesn't qualify for lifesaving interventions or doesn't qualify for being coded but are you really sure that he has no quality of life? All we see are small swatches of time in these peoples lives, yet we have the ARROGANCE to make a end of life judgement based on a single hour or two that we spend with that patient. We need to check ourselves. We do not know the backstories of these patients. Remember, in 30, 40, or 50 years, you are going to be in that position as the patient and you are going to have some ems provider making the same assumptions about your quality of life, and maybe by then, their assumption might lead them to be able to make the decision to end your life not save it. They might be able to decide by just looking at your current circumstances and other assessments that they can just go ahead and decide (per procedure) that your life is time to end. Think about that for a bit. I mean, that's what we have been skirting on for a bit with this discussion haven't we, that some people should not be resuscitated based on quality of life perceived by US as providers, hasn't it?
  6. Unfortunately, in the service I used to work for, we weren't in utopia Kiwi. You have to remember that. Remember, we just stupid ole paramedics who if there ain't a protocol or a directive written for it, then we can't do it don't ya know. But the doc aint gonna deny it because he knows I'm right to ask for it. I'm just getting his permission to give it. I've alreadry got it drawn up and ready to give. I just got to get his permission since I don't specifically have da standin orders for it. Now if I wus to be that proactive type medic, I'd write a dystonic reaction standing order protocol and have it approved in 20 minutes and get it put on the ambulance and then I wouldn't have to call him. But I'm too lazy and i just wanna go back to watchin my television shows in between my calls.
  7. Extra Pyramidial Symptoms Usually it's the teenager who decides to take a bunch of grandma's pills, doesn't know what she is taking, but she grabs a bottle or two, takes a coupel out of each bottle to get back at Joey her boyfriend, they call 911, by the time I get there, they are freaking out because her tongue keeps popping out, her eyes are bugging out and her neck won't turn. I do a full exam, call medical control, ask for a trial of benadryl, take her to the hospital, give her the benadryl enroute, and the symptoms clear up, but many times it takes a couple more rounds of banadryl in order to get her through the worst of the overdose. What I've found in the few overdoses like these is that these are sufficiently able to freak the shit out of these drama queens that they won't do something like this again. These overdoses are very scary to all involved as the symptoms are freakish as well as terrifying to the one having them happen to them. One haldol can do it, one metoclopromide as well. If the overdose or medication ingestion is accidental, this is also enough to keep them from probably never taking a medication that doesn't belong to them or prescribed to them again. It's a great teaching tool for that particular person. Sometimes not though. I can tell you that once you see your first Dystonic reaction, you will more than likely be able to recognize it again and again in the future. good case Flight.
  8. Ok, Read a question here from a very respected (ok I respect him) friend, I'm going to turn it around a little. Guy's and gals, I want you to really really think long and hard and answer it from the heart. This is a serious question. "What do you do when your spouse doesn't respect your ideas?" Talking points, How do you approach your spouse to talk about how she/he makes you feel without fighting about it? How do you keep from clamming up and just holding it in? Do you just crumb...

  9. have you ever had anyone come up behind you and Yell boom when you were building a bomb? As a practical joke?
  10. To our raymore friends: Does anyone have any good deck guys? I'm trying to get a couple of other deck estimates. thanks

  11. If he would answer his PM I might have a skills lab and a partner for him/her. But he has to answer his PM. Cannot help him without his answering his PM
  12. Joey Lawrence just walked into the Chick Fil A here in Silver Springs. I shook his hand.

  13. I just texted Anthony again. This guys primarily a cardiac arrest as well. I think we're going to have to put this scenario in suspended animation until Anthony comes back. He just texted me back and said he was going to try to get online after he got done with what his current call.
  14. I agree, When I got Anthony's text, he said it was something different, but since anthony hasn't returned since his last message we are left to run this as a megacode until his return.
  15. Aren't we just running an ACLS Mega code.
  16. I knew it was going to be a long day when it took me a hour and a half to drive nine miles and the nurses were discussing the consistency of brains ovet breakfast when I arrived to work. my prediction proved true.

  17. Unwitnessed arrest, ALS, what's the monitor showing? I'm gonna run through a round of acls and see what I get and if I don't get ROSC then this guys gonna be classified as DRT. But I think ANT's got something under his sleeve, as I've already talked to him and he more than insinuated it was something good. I think he got bit by the love bug and it stopped his heart because she had to leave on he but to georgia. He coded because of a broken heart. What's his monitor show, are we sure he's not just profoundly bradycardic.
  18. 25 minutes to drive a half mile. Gotta love DC traffic

  19. So the democrat plan to stop student loans interest rates from doubling was to raise taxes on corporations. That was shot down by the republicans. The republicans plan was to be paid for by taking it out of obamacare. Can't these freaking idiots and children play together in the flipping sandbox. IF they can't compromise on this then how are we the general public to have any sort of confidence in our elected officials to come together and compromise on something really important - like, u...

  20. Day 1 of my conversion is a pretty good success

  21. I texted Anthony and he replied saying he was really busy and he will try to get to this as soon as he can.
  22. My friend had wonderful results from the North America Spine, at Dallas Texas. A quick google search will get you there. Don't know the cost but I thinki it's covered by insurance.
  23. Actually I don't think it's the biostat cure. I'm stil gathering the info Ch. I'll be sure to eat the words out of my mouth if it is but my friend who underwent the procedure is completely pain free 6 months post procedure so that counts as a cure in my book. More to follow. The procedure is out of Texas, is that the reference you are talking about CH?
  24. There is a very very promising new procedure being done in Texas by a physician as an alternative to fusion of vertebraes. I had a friend just undergo the procedure. It took 5 minutes and he is a new man. I will get the info and provide it to the group to take it to your doctors if you get a injury. I believe the procedure has to do with combining platelets and fibrinogen (or another substance) and it makes some sort of type of glue. Initially the pain remains but after several months the disks heal themselves and the pain goes away and you are basically healed. IT is NOT FDA approved nor is it covered by insurance but if you have the cash or means to pay for it then the physician will do the procedure. My friend had the means and he had it done. His injury was in his neck. I will get the info for this procedure and disseminate it out to the City.
  25. Would a movie where the Aliens in the end Destroy Earth and a rag tag remnant of earthlings start a new colony and come back and kick those aliens butts make any money?
