  1. Where did the OP go? No response to any of the questions posted? HMmmmmmm
  2. Hey Doc, I found a picture of the toy that you modeled. Here's the link http://www.robertsreportonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/20110528-104410.jpg
  3. HA I finally got it. Thanks happiness
  4. And we are glad you like it to. A damn fine welcome to the city too.
  5. Good intentions to live off campbells soup and riding the bus but you will bow down to the god of consumerism and have an Iphone and a mercedes or lexus before your first year is over. You would have to keep up with the ERDOcologist. So you would start out with great intentions but you would fail, miserably, but fail nonetheless.
  6. You would be hard pressed to be the only model for that toy. I mean there were moving parts and all. If I had the mindset at the time I saw it, I would have taken a picture but I was afraid that having that on my camera would have been considered illegal in over 44 countries and against at least 14 different treaties.
  7. Funny thing ERDoc, I was in Cirillas the other day and I distinctly remember in the display case there was this HUGE Sex toy and it said "Endorsed by WADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The gal behind the counter said this "Wade's a legend at this Store" She said for you to come back, your punch card is about to expire.
  8. Well, the cirilla's was nice on the outside but the skank on the inside left well let's just say, a little to be desired. errr Note to the wife, I didn't go in, I DID NOT GO IN TO CIRILLA's, honest, I DIDN't. you mean there's a cirillas there? It must be the Topomax making me have the selective forgetfulness that the neurologist warned me about.
  9. Damn, I know that Motel 8 you are talking about. I would only put Kiwi up in that place, not anyone else. I prefer the Homewood Suites off 28th street behind the Olive Garden, just up from Hooters. Never did get to Hooters though. (really I didn't).
  10. Honestly, there are some battles that are best not fought. LIke the battle of the little bighorn, the battle of the bulge and the battle of the possibly hypertensive patient who was hypertensive but the nurses couldn't figure out between their petty bickering amongst themselves in front of the patient which shows pretty bad form if you ask me. But you did what you were supposed to do and I would just let this battle be written down in your little black book of what would you do if you were in this situation again and you can develop a little situation awareness for next time. You now know how to at least handle a situation like this in the future and you have learned something. You can put that in your little black book of tricks. Consider this a win for you.
  11. Why not do this. Work one EMS job and another job that is NOT EMS. What a concept. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the non-ems job might just pay more.
  12. I have also heard, but nothing to back it up other than verbal discussions that increased bone fractures with the big, especially with smaller boned patients. Anyone else get that experience?
  13. This is not a Volunteer bashing thread. Do not make this as such. That is not what the original intent of the thread was. If you want to understand what the volunteer issue is please do a search for vounteer versus paid in the search box and you will see that it has been discussed and discussed ad nauseum over and over again until the bones of the dead horse have scattered off to the 7 deserts. So let's end the discussion on volunteers here and now and get back to the original topic. Otherwise Admin or Dwayne or AK are going to lock this if we aren't careful. One thing that I'm proud of one of the places I've worked at is the way that we've been able to trial certain medical devices such as the FAST One IO device. Our service was one of the first civilian EMS systems to have this device. I was actually one of the first crew members to actually use the device at my service. Worked wonders on a unconscious critical GI bleed. We made it a standard of care until we began to use the EZ IO drill. While I'm no longer associated with the service, I believe that they still use both devices and allow either of the devices depending on medic preference.
  14. Plus I believe that many schools if you decide to truly go on to the Bachelor programs will not accept the credits. I'm not sure of the reasons behind it but I think AK has set out those reasons in posts before. AK can you tell the reasons, I'm pretty sure it's you that has put in the reasons before. At least someone has here in the past.
  15. Now Bill you can't just put up your hands and say Mea Culpa. Dwayne asked you some pretty hard and fast questions and if you can't provide the answers to those questions say you can't but just to walk away, that's just not fitting to this discussion. That's just giving up and going down with the ship. It's like you laid down a large amount of baseless charges and when called on them, you just say "oh, yeah I said them but I didn't mean them, don't be mad at me I didn't really mean what I said, I'm too inexperienced" That's bull. You say you kicked a hornets nest. Yep ya did, but I'm sure Dwayne will have much to say as will ERDoc. You just can't come into the argument and when called just slink away. That's immature, you gotta do better than that.
  16. Which we have come full circle back to the original advice that was given in the first 3-5 responses. Call the organization you have a question of. As has been mentioned before, why take the stated opinion of a group of people when the GOLD standard answer is just as simple as a phone call away. In fact, the city of New York has made it so simple that even a cave man can apply to be a fireman/emt/paramedic that you can do this all by phone. Go back after you read this answer, click on the website in the first response after the OP Post, and look for the phone number, call it and then you too can apply by phone. How simple is that. Since the underlying theme of all these questions that get answered like this, the OP is no-where to be found yet we are still giving them answers. So here's the last freebie from ye ole Captain, Do your own homework at least. Do a web search, make a phone call, and ask the question yourself. The answer you get will often be the completely correct answer. Then and only then if you don't like that answer, come here and we will give you the answer you like because everyone here is an expert at everything. But at least put some EFFORT into finding the answer yourself.
  17. I mean I just saw the new Allstate commercial. It has burglars stealing from a home and a watchdog guarding the house and all he's doing is sitting around eating a bone. He then goes out to the front yard and runs after the burglars and gets to the end of his electric fence and then get's shocked. I'm calling Allstate and complaining that it put's watchdog's in a terrible light. Makes em look stupid. If I was a watchdog, I'd be offended and wanting someones head to roll because it makes them look stupid.
  18. What performance enhancing (legal) stuff has he been taking? Is he doing a metabolic cleanse? Is he doing the niacin cleanse? Do you see any niacin or supplements on the bedstand or the bathroom?
  19. Ok, we've discussed this into two pages. Now let's form a game plan to take it to the next level. The biggest question, who has the time, the energy and the resources to put the framework together to start this? Anyone? I bet I will hear crickets on this one.
  20. Last service I worked for protocols were just that guidelines and nothing more. But what I was proud of the most of one of my other places I worked was that there was no better place to go and hear the bitching and the moaning. If there was a contest for people to complain, a national reality show that gave a million dollars and was similar to survival, that service would have won hands down and taken home the million. That was what was right with that service. Thank GOD I'm not working there any more. Talk about a toxic place to work. That was many many moons ago though and they were bought up by a conglomerate.
  21. My question is this. Who is the Augusta Golf clubs policy hurting? Is it specifically causing harm to women? Is it causing harm to men? Just who is it causing harm to? I can't see it causing harm to anyone other than those who think it is unfair. IT seems that every time someone makes a stink about making things fair in this society, that things just go to hell in a hand basket for those that they are trying to make it fair for. I would like to know, just WHO is this golf clubs policy of only admitting men by invitiation only hurting?
  22. but let me ask this question, would you want to be the first black member who forced his way into the club or the first woman who forced her way into the club? I'm not sure if I am that person. I'll let some forward thinking person willing to take the heat to be that person. You've got to be willing to take the heat and the risk to be the first. Court ruling/judgement or not. Plus I thought the Augusta club was by invitation only, you can't just walk up to the membership office and apply. It's by invite only I believe.
  23. But they easily did Orthostatics because he stood up and walked so he was NOT obviously orthostatic. And since we don't do many things via evidence based I'd say that his being NOT obviously orthostatic isn't evidence based but based on purely visible cues that he's not orthostatic. So he's ok and he doesn't qualify for lights and sirens. But the mechanism of injury is of course the most common reason I've seen for a diesel bolus and l&S response and what with the need for a cash infusion to be delivered directly to the EMS crew during transport, he truly needed the L&S response and the stop by the ATM Machine.
