  1. ok, I'll get some ribbing for this but has Schnauzer been designated a new word for something other than a dog cause I don't get it?
  2. Wait a minute, how messy are we talking? It sounds like he's putting people at severe risk for blood borne pathogens. So if he inadvertently pokes the artery, which is albeit uncommon and get's blood sprayed in his eyes, then he's got an exposure. How does he intubate? How does that work? How bout working in the dark? Good on him for working while legally blind but I have some pretty good vision problems and have a hard time seeing up close so being legally blind would be a huge hurdle to get over on my end.
  3. I was just funnin with ya though.
  4. How bout "Pararescueman Technical Specialist Ninja Supreme Galactic Chancellor Attending Consulting Practicing Physician Can't get together with Ruff for dinner or lunch to save your life Doctor dude when Ruff gave you every opportunity in the world to get together" Will that work as well? orrrrr just "Pararescueman Technical Specialist Ninja Supreme Galactic Chancellor Attending Consulting Practicing Physician"
  5. nope that excuse is out I really know that no-one on this board would take the wee little one to the adult facility. Especially since we have two ambucabs on scene.
  6. How about Attending Consulting Practicing Physician
  7. And after what Dwayne posted on Facebook with his pamela anderson image, I'll never look at Pamela any other way again. Thanks Dwayne.
  8. Like mentioned, reunion in a couple of days. No better place to take a dehydrated sick little baby than a pediatric facility. if you have two facilities 5 minutes apart then you are doing that little kid absolutely NO justice by bringing him to the adult facility. None. As a matter of fact I would ask you to justify your choice and rationale as to why you would choose the adult facility over the pediatric facility. and the first person who says "I don't want to separate the baby from the mom" fails this test and must go back to remedial first responder school. my rationale is yes adult facilities have to be able to take care of little kiddos but a standalone pediatric facility that takes care of children every day day in and day out 7 days a week 365 days a years is infinitately more qualified to take care of sick kids than a adult facility is any day of the week. They are built specifically to cater to the needs of children and their nurses and doctors and equipment are set to handle children and nothing but children. I don't know how many times that the hospitals I used to work in that were specifically for all ages didn't have children sized whatevers and we had to make do. I don't remember having to make do when I brought children to the ped's facilities. So the question remains, for those who chose the adult over the peds facility, what's your rationale? it's a 5 minute difference in transport time according to the scenario.
  9. We have two ambulances Baby and Nanna to the peds er Momma to the adult er Reunion in 3-5 days or so
  10. Yet no-one has sent a PM to me. I must have missed my shower yesterday and today. slinking away to my rock covered bunker with all the comforts of home, errrr Hilton Garden Inn, silver spring Maryland.
  11. Aldi is a cut rate small grocery store. They sell off brand grocery items. http://www.aldi.us/index_ENU_HTML.htm
  12. Had a doc tell a medic one day who royally screwed the pooch on a patient, took the patient down the primrose path to cemetary ville, the er docs brought her back to the land of the living tell a medic point blank, stick around, you need to realize what you have done and what you have to do to reverse what you did so next time you won't do what you did again. We all learned a lot that day.
  13. Oh don't get me wrong, we don't buy the fruits and veggies. we stick with the box stuff like baking goods and milk and meat products. We also buy bulk items there and generators too. Not much else there we buy. The boxed items such as the baking items and bottled juices are just as good as the generics that we buy at wal mart are just as good.
  14. I LOVE MY WIFE, I LOVE MY WIFE, I LOVE MY WIFE. Did I say I love my wife today? Well, darn it I do.

  18. Well I just purchased the first item on my list. A 6000 watt peak, 5000 watt sustained generator that will power a good part of my home in case of a natural disaster. It will connect directly into my circuit breaker courtesy of my licensed electrician father in law. I will be able to run my furnace, airconditioner, freezer, fridge, 2nd freezer, stove, television, dvd player, computer and a couple of outlets in the kitchen/living room area of the house. The basement (son's room) and other bedrooms(daughters rooms) will be without power. That's the first thing I have purchased. Figured to get the highest priced item off the list first off. Gonna set it up Friday and have my father in law over Saturday to hook it up. Next is a dinner with my gun nut friend and the purchase of a shotgun, a 22 rifle and a pistol(not buying the pistol now -too much money). But will purchase about 1500 rounds of ammo to go with each gun. Next step, water collection equipment. i'm still workin on the list for the city For the generator - Check your local Aldi food store they may have them for sale there. WE paid 349.00 for ours.
  19. Cool, we've had a couple of people come in here and ask what would you do type questions and then it turns out they've been fishing for a lawsuit. glad you aren't one of those. Good you are ok and have gotten closure so to speak. yes some medics do but I suspect that with the doctor running around like you said he did, he might have told that crew to stick around to learn something since they at the time thought you were "stable" which it sounds as if you "Obviously" were not. It says you are a ems student, what type?
  20. Yeah, the medic was crapping his pants because he missed the boat in how sick you were. I'll bet the doc told him to stick around and maybe he might learn something. So why did you come here with this question? The reason I ask is this. We have had in the past people come here searching for answers as to why they were treated the way they were in order to get closure, We have had on the other end of the spectrum those who have come here looking for opinions before filing a lawsuit which I might have a slight itch that it why you posted this here. I might be wrong but my gut tells me that's why you are here. If you are here for the closure, I hope you get it. If you are here for legal ammo, well you got that here as well. But..... in the off chance you came to learn about your condition then Good on ya, good on you for trying to learn but you should have already learned all you could from your condition in the past 1.5 years. I won't pass judgement on this one quite yet.
  21. If theres a nursing mother anywhere near the vicinity, problem solved!!!!!!
  22. He did say his EEG was also like Afib too Doc. so he wasn't wrong.
  23. Great job Mob's Nothing wrong with that. Gut's are sometimes wrong. I had a guy many months ago. He just woke up, said he had the worst headache of his life. I thought for sure subarachnoid bleed. Flew him to stroke center. Turned out it was a clot not a bleed. Had I have stopped by our local yocal hospital we could have tpa'd him and then flew him but I didn't. Fortunately, he did very very well with the intervention that the stroke center did for him and the 30 minute flight versus the 20 minutes that it would have taken our facility to get all the ducks in a row didn't cost him much brain power. But my gut told me bleed but the CT said otherwise. Gut feelings can be wrong. Live a learn, but unfortunately in our business lives are at stake. Did I make the wrong call, maybe, but with all the signs and symptoms, most other medics would have made the same call.
  24. So the consensus is that this patient is definately not stable yet we have a medic from the original poster who said she was stable. Can the OP tell us if he knows why that medic classified her as stable??????? Enquiring minds or Just my mind wants to know?
