  1. Yes the medical director of my hospital based service was also the medical director of the ER. They inherit the directorship when they take the ED Director position. Most of them had no desire to be the medical director of the ambulance service. One more headache.
  2. the more I think about it, the chimpanzee being killed was because he lost the top spot in the pack. So the others killed him because he was no longer top chimp. Maybe it was revenge for his cruelty to them or something like that.
  3. No Dwayne, I like Captain Kickass In 120 days I will change it again, to maybe "Benevelent Potentate Overseer of EMTCity"
  4. I'm now known as Captain Kickass - That is all.
  5. Look at the hierarchy in chimpanzee populations, they go as far as to murder members of their group. I don't remmeber where I saw this but there was a nature documentary that showed just that, the group killing a member. It was particularly brutal. Even I went "WHOA" I think that there are others. I also don't think homosexuality is a disease, that designation is for those who do not understand the entire issue. Do I think they need to be eradicated, well thats just preposterous. but there is procreation involved in homosexuality. I have a lesbian couple who just had a baby. The "Mom" was impregnated with a friends sperm. She had a healthy boy. There was procreation but without the sex. Look at Melissa Etheridge as well, didn't she have David Crosby's baby via artificial insemination? Or was it the otehr partner of Melissa's who had the baby, can't remember. So should Lesbian and gay's not be allowed ot have kids, many people would say NO they should not but in an enlightened society with kids by the thousands who aren't wanted what's wrong with gays having kids? If the Octomom can have kids I see no issue with anyone else having them.
  6. True systemet he wasn't well liked.
  7. And you have people striking in London because they are being asked to work a few more hours to help pay for their pensions. I know that's not the only reason why they are striking but it's I believe one of the cornerstones of the cause of the strike. So how's socialism working for you in Europe?
  8. So Rick Perry and other candidates are saying that they will get rid of the Department of Energy and the Department of Educaiton as soon as they are elected. The dept of energy employs 5000+ people and the Department of education employs 116,100. So what they are in essence saying "I'm going to get rid of 116000+ jobs on my first day of office"

  9. sure college should be free as well as many other things in life like health care and food that is if you like paying 50% or more in taxes. Due to my income I already pay 40% for federal, state and local taxes. I'm not willing to pay much more. I'm not a socialist so I do not believe that college should be free nor do I think health care should be free. We could get into this debate over taxes and other stuff but that's not what I'm here for. I already pay my fair share.
  10. don't tell the Mrs. But seriously, I know Santa aint real but my kids believe he's real. My daughter is terrified of those jolly ole fat guys dressed up in red suits but when she see's Santa on TV she's like "SANTA SANTA SANTA". My son is on the cusp of not believing but he still plays the part. I get a gift (given by me to me) from Santa every year. Last year it was a laptop, this year, it's something better, usually taken from my christmas bonus.
  11. He might have gotten fired.
  12. Just what's all this bush bashing goin on? Them's fightin words.
  13. Now Systemet, don't you know that everything good that ever came about was done by the americans. We are the saviours of all the other peoples of the world. It's our view or nothing. You can expect a visit from Janet Napolitano very very soon (you should hear the knocking now)
  14. Or one is a tri sexual - meaning they will try anything. But seriously, do you really want a medic who got a mostly passing or near passing or almost passing score on their test? I mean touchy feely aside and the fact that again we don't want our precious children to not pass because it would be a stigma, if you don't pass you fail. You don't mostly fail, you don't almost fail, YOU FAIL. Simple as that. So take the "we can't make anyone feel bad" language out of the equation and say Pass or Fail. Nuff said.
  15. What Santa isn't real?/????? childhood destroyed ha ha but my son is beginning to say "Santa is just you dad" so he's not going to believe much longer. I still believe in Santa because my children believe in Santa. Do I delude myself that Santa is real - nope. But until my children stop believeing and I think I've got at least 9 more years of believing in Santa I think I'm good.
  16. Sitting in the hotel room. The people next door keep opening and shutting their door. At 10pm if they still are doing it, I'm calling the front desk.

  17. So are you saying that the less educated the more profession of faith or vice versa? I think you are partly true if you are positing that it's the former rather than the latter.
  18. If it leads me to a truer understanding or a deeper understanding of my own faith then I can't see this type of questioning and learning would lead me to a crushed spirit. I'm still that ole work in progress, from faith to fatherhood to being a better man to a more well rounded person all over.
  19. Good explanation of the science part. I do not hold faith to be the definer in scientific study nor quantifiable things. I think that faith is used to help someone who is hurting by maybe giving them a reason why something happened and to keep away from the really painful reason why it happened. Most people of faith or of no faith will sometimes struggle with something to say in the light of a tragedy. Many times both will lean on a religious theme as to why it happened rather than trying to come to grips with the actual cause of the tragedy such as the actions of the person who died or who the tragedy affected. I'm just thinking out loud here. I have also never seen anything that defied logic, the dead walked out of the hospital post code -- they were dead but now alive. Was it God who did it? Not sure or was it my understanding of the medications and CPR and good airway control that made the difference. Maybe it was God but then again, maybe it was me? Man's car crushed between two cement trucks and the man walked out without a scratch, God or physics? Maybe both or maybe one or the other? The big issue for me in rectifying my faith and what I've actually seen is that I have to take my faith into account but not let it go overboard and cloud my judgement and color what should normally be a success on my part.
  20. I think anything less that passing constitutes failure in my opinion. It's like saying, you nearly defibrillated the guy, you didn't defibrillate him but you nearly did. Or like Miracle Max in Princess bride said about Welsey when he appeared dead. "He's not dead, he's only mostly dead" So the verbage of above passing, nearly passing or below passing is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a while. Either you pass or you didn't. Could this be one of those nicer gentler ways of telling you that you failed. The touchy feely emotional thing. Like giving a trophy to all the kids on a team with a record of 0 and 14??? Are they trying to soften the blow of "you failed" try again.
  21. Nope not at all Herbie Blind faith is dangerous in my opinion. I know a acquaintance who has absolute blind faith. He/she is basically a walking train wreck when it comes to their family. He/she says it's all God's will. I don't believe it but this person does. This person follows God and lives breathes and eats God. I feel that they may be addicted to God and that is not a healthy thing. So I have seen things, as have you that would make you question a creator, make you question a God (any God) and makes you question humanity. Why would this happen? Is it God's will or just happening? I don't know. If I blindly followed faith then I would say it was God's will. But I don't blindly follow faith, I do question things, I have become known as the argument starting sunday school class member. I believe the bible but I question if what I am reading hasn't been altered or changed from it's original format which several of this sites pre-eminent members have shown that it has in order to fit the mores/morals/beliefs at the time of the translation. I do know it has from Version to version but the underlying words and meaning I feel has been kept. I cannot speak a lick of greek or Hebrew so I cannot say that what was written in hebrew was altered by the original reader and translator. I remain a passive skeptic and per a push off the cliff by a good friend/member here, I have begun to really question what I have learned and what I know. I'm a work in progress.
  22. And your last sentence is profound. If you are a person of faith then proof isn't necessary.
  23. Actually I transport all dead people in arrest(and who that is dead isn't in arrest) because I look like I really tried to save their families loved one. I look the hero and even though I know what the outcome is, I still have a little bit of hero wannabe in my blood. but seriously, I think the only reason that is valid for transport is medical director/protocol requirements. If the protocols haven't kept up with the times and the medical director/base station physician are still stuck in the dark ages of transport all codes, then are you sure that your service is really all that progressive?
  24. We are across the state from one another then. Hit me up the next time you head the KC MO area. I'll treat you to some real KC barbeque rather than the stuff you call St. Louis style ribs.
