Do a video search on video.google.com for any type of word that would be remotely pornographized and you will get links for this site. My filtering software filters it out and won't let me go into the site but the links that it brings up will give you an idea of what it is.

Some Amish do have phones. Not all do but some do. On the alternative, they sometimes will put the sick person in the buggy and bring them to you. At other times they have someone get the buggy and go to the nearest house with a phone. Many times I remember getting the call but by the time they got to a phone the damage was already done and it was a medical examiner case. One Amish father(not the patients father) told me when I said why don't you have a phone, this could have been prevented and he said that it was "God's Provenance". I at the time didn't like that answer and I kind of still don't but that's what he believed.

About 10 years ago I was assigned to a client in Tampa Florida. I was in an office of about 12 people and there were three people on the other side of the room telling very very vulgar jokes and really talking very derogatory about women, going so far as calling women the c word and also talking quite sexually about various women they knew. I went to them and told them to stop talking that way because it made me very uncomfortable. They apologized. Two days later, same office, same three guys but this time a woman in the office was right in there making some vulgar comments about who she thought in the office was a lesbian and who she thought was gay. I stood up and told them to knock it off and I was told that if I didn't like it then I could go to a different part of the building in a closed office and work from there. They told me that they have gotten rid of greater consultants than me. Now being the hired consultant who really doesn't have a lot of standing or friends on site, I was really torn as to whether to report it or leave it be and work in a different office. I decided to not ignore it and went to my manager. My manager took this very very seriously and took me to HR to report this. I'm getting quite nervous now since this is getting into the big level of management and administration. Reports were made, Others in the office I worked in also came forward. When HR asked why they hadn't come forward sooner they all said they were afraid of the people involved. To make a long story short, two of the individuals involved were terminated, one was demoted and the female (well she actually didn't get any punishment). After this happened, work became unbearable, emails were unanswered, various work requests were left undone which came back directly onto me since I was the requestor but not the person to do the work. People avoided me and meetings I scheduled were unattended. Needless to say, the group got their revenge and I was shortly removed from the project due to performance issues. Would I report it again, yes I would. Did I enjoy the process, hell no.

I agree on the fighting (I was just venting) but why can't we settle differences with a bit of discussion and showing our point of view or our frame of reference. I don't advocate decking someone (although that is what it requires sometimes) but I do not advocate the running to mommy mentality that we have seems to have developed in this country. A little bit of get a backbone or grow a pair can go a long long way.

Since when did we go from solving arguments on the playground with a hefty strike to the jaw and go to "I'm telling on you and taking your ass to court for making me uncomfortable" We have to stop taking ourselves so serious and note that not all "offenses" require court intervention or one of the persons being fired. Just go outside the building, down the alley and commence to beating the hell out of each other and then get up and shake hands and get back to work. If more people solved their problems man to man or woman to woman, life would be a better place and one less filled with "you hurt my feelings so I'm gonna sue you and get you fired"

I have always wondered why you need to be a EMT before a medic. I know it's all economics and schools make mucho dinero by running 100 emt's through classes every year. But why do you need to be an EMT in order to get into medic school. In nursing school you do not need to be a CNA or a LPN to be a nurse, In medical school you don't need anything but a pre-med education to get into medical school. You certainly don't need to be a Paralegal to become a attorney. So why in the world are we still requiring people who want to be a medic, to be an emt first? For those who make those rules it truly sounds like a dumb idea who's time has come to die a slow and terrible death.

Anyone can claim sexual harassment, anyone can claim racism, anyone can claim hostile work environment as those are three of the most feared claims a HR or administrative management person can hear. It's sometimes easier to fire the person involved than to really do the due diligence in finding out what really went on. I call it the knee jerk reaction that these types of claims or lawsuits have made our companies rely on.

If the county policy is that no surfing porn and if you are caught you are fired, then you are fired. It all depends on the computer use policy but the hospital I worked at has a very cut and dried porn policy, get caught and you are gone, no if's ands or buts. I think they have a investigation that goes on first to determine if it was a inadvertant site visit or if the visit was part of a bigger problem/issue. I had the displeasure of reporting one of my co-workers for watching porn on the computer in the EMS office after asking them to stop. They got terminated as it was a pattern of use. But seriously, what dilrod doesn't erase his history and clear out the cache after looking at that stuff. When i was researching vivisection for an online class in my masters degree program, I made sure that I erased my history and cache'd websites because I didn't want my wife or son to see some of the images that I was exposed to during my research. Got an A on the paper too.

I just downloaded the book Lies my teacher told me. I will read it on my flight home tomorrow.

I concur TC, when I went to medic school it was taught as a route of administration but significantly stressed that it was not truly a viable or safe option.

And try to play well with others in the sandbox. Oh yeah, be careful out there. And remember, when you start to hear that age old mantra "Medics save lives, EMT's save medics" just remember that's a bunch of hooey and bullcrap.

Zack, you got a idiot of a preceptor on your first ride. Some are like that. one of my preceptors told me that "I was to be seen and not heard, visible but not near the patient and should just act stupid" or a quote very similar to that. I asked if I'd be able to do any IV's or skills and he said "F)(*#)( no" I asked to leave and he let me. Called my clinical supervisor who set me up with the ride shift and she said to go back and ride with this other person. His name was Michael as well, one of the most incredible medics I've ever worked with and studied under. I ended up spending every shift at that service riding with him. This was before pre-hospital 12 leads and he was doing 4 and 6 leads on a lifepak10. he taught me much of what I know and pushed me to be a better person, medic and man. He actually came to my wedding. I have since lost touch with him.
