  1. Katerina and Mommy get to come home. YAY!!!!!

  2. Having worked now with both an android versus a IPad, I think that the IPad in my opinion wins but the only drawback like I said in a previous post is that the ipad doesn't do flash nor does it allow a sd/mini sd card slot. I give the ipad an A- and the android tablet a B+++ If you can live without youtube and flash then you should get the ipad.
  3. Hey give your fellow break the ribs I'm cool student my phone number 1-800-boot to the head and he and I can chat. I'm sure he's an idiot but I'll let him disprove it.
  4. Update to the baby saga Jennifer's hemoglobin dropped to 6.2 overnight from 8.4 She started out with 10.1 due to her chronic pernicious anemia. She looked very pasty and if I saw her as a trauma patient I'd be very worried. But they gave her two units of blood and she no longers looks like the walking dead (her words not mine) but now just puny she says. We are all doing well and Jenny got a good nap today while waiting for the blood to transfuse. She really needed the rest. Thanks for all the well wishes. Cigars all around.
  5. Kind of hard to turn away when your new baby looks you in the eyes you know?

  6. Here is the link to our picture page on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150410404201163.414339.673191162&type=3 Some really great pictures of the baby and mamma.
  7. So maybe next time you should take a video with your cell phone, make sure to catch all the unprofessional activity and if it's not involving a patient nor the patient isn't seen or identified, post the video on Youtube. then send an anonymous message or phone call to the ambulance service supervisors and give them the link. I wonder how fast they get discipline going there? Or don't post it on Youtube but send it to the supervisor or boss at the ambulance service email. Let them know the next time that you see this level of behaviour it will be posted on Youtube and broadcast to the masses. Tell the person you are talking to that you hope it won't go viral.
  8. Off to bed. Have a 1 oclock feeding to help with.

  12. Today we welcome the newest Ruffian into the world. Jenny has a headache today so for Gods sake world, keep the volume down.

  13. Fair enough, I really actually need to get some because if i'm going to be mandated by Crotchity to stop because it's in the bible, then I better get some. I do have some pretty significant psoriasis that causes splits in my fingertips and other areas on my hands so gloves would be a good idea. If I'm alone in my car then I'll stop (all dependent on the situation) but if my child is with me, and now with my newborn coming today, then I'll call 911 or pull to the side and give advice to bystanders. But remember in my area where I live, an ambulance is less than 10 minutes away from any direction in my area. If I'm rural then that's a different story. And you are completely correct, the end of civilization will be when a distracted driver causes a wreck with a Fed Ex truck that is carrying a dirty bomb laced with some biological weapon.

  18. Gotta love security at Atlantas airport. Door alarm has been going off for the last 5 mins. Let's hope that no one with ulterior bad motives went through the door.

  19. I wonder if the kids featured in the billboards and their parents were fully apprised of what their picture would be used for? One would hope that yes they were but it makes me wonder if they truly were informed. I am quite skeptical of parents doing the right thing. They need someone else to blame other than themselves for all the ills of society. Since we are a blame free society by what I mean is this, many out there do not take responsibility for their actions or their behaviour so they have to have someone else to blame. It's not their fault their kids are fat, it's the fast food restaurants, it's the government not paying them enough to be able to afford good healthy food, it's this or that or this and that. People want someone to blame, no matter if it's their fault they want someone else to blame because that takes off the pressure on them. If they can find someone else to blame then they can continue to make bad decisions and feel good about them. It's so much easier to blame the other guy, to blame the fast food restaurants but the change is really easy to do. Just drive right on by them and head home to cook a low fat, low sodium dinner or lunch. Is so much easier to sit on the couch and watch tv than it is to get up, walk a mile or two and come back and then watch tv. You can have it both ways. Just take the time to do what you know is right and stop the blame game. There is enough blame to go around, just ask those who blame everyone for every problem they have. If you want to know who those people are, just turn on daytime television or look at the news. Heck, I'll bet if you look in the mirror you might find out it's also yourself, just like I did when I looked in the mirror one day. Not saying that anyone here blames everyone else for their problems but maybe, just maybe, we can see ourselves in this societal problem just a little.
  20. I agree Asys, but for the times that you are waiting for the coroner to arrive after you've determined the baby non-viable this is where your communication skills are tested the most. In all the viable pedi arrests I've been to I've always grabbed the baby, started compressions and run to the ambulance. Do all the resus in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Many times the baby has been waiting at the curb on our arrival.
  21. Why the big deal over swapping linen. You bring a patient into the ER with a bottom sheet, a top sheet and a blanket and pillowcase. You are giving the hospital everything but probably the pillowcase so why not just exchange one for the other. The hospital still gets a full set of dirty linens(usually not dirty at all) and you get a fresh clean set. Win win situation. I don't see why this is an issue. If it is, then maybe your management should discuss with the hospital that doesn't allow you to exchange linens a linen exchange program. The services I've worked at we just exchange like for like. But we do have a supply of sheets, pillowcases and blankets under the bench seat.
