  1. Dinner at whataburger. The burger definately does not qualify for exclaiming Whataburger!!!!!! More like "was that actually a burger?" Not in my book it wasn't. Blech

How hard is it to cook a burger correctly? I mean if you can't do that job then you need to just go hide under a rock. Especially when there are alerts that you need to turn the burger now. Then the next alert is to take burger off grill and put on bun. If you cannot do those simple steps then you don't need to be in society. I'm paying for the undercooked greasy burger today. Thank goodness the bathroom is 12 feet away.

  2. Actually crotchity is right, we've never experienced racism or discrimination. And he's also right about the hoods and crosses. For those of you who were coming to the cross burning that I was holding in front of the only black family in town's house, it's been cancelled for lack of a cross, and lack of accelerant, and lack of a fire. In fact, my hood is in the tailors shop getting a new stitch. Was a college student, wanted to work for the police department for the university as one of the guys who gave you your parking tickets on campus. Was told by the captain who was hiring me, he said "we can hire you today because no black applicants have applied. You better take the job today because if a black applicant applies tomorrow then they get the job" How's that for discrimination? I took the test for the Kansas city police department, I scored in the high 98 percentile on the test. This was in 1988. I was able to move forward in the selection process but was told by one of the selection committee that even though my scores were high, my background was stellar and I had no skeletons in my closet (at least that they found) that I'd most likely not be hired because there were many black applicants who were less qualified than I but the department had to hire those applicants because it was the rules. I didn't get hired. I guess that's what's called in the black mindset, getting back at cracker and stiking it to the white man.
  3. I love that guy. He's hilarious. too bad the hotel I'm at doesn't get his channel he's usually on.
  4. didn't know this topic had turned from multisystem trauma to sickle cell. Are you trying to turn this conversation racist again by bringing up a disease that affects more blacks versus whites and by us not giving a specific drug we could be considered racist? We carry morphine, and fentanyl and whichever works on Sickle cell pain is what we give. The patients usually tell us what had worked best inthe past morphine or fentanyl and we give it to them.
  5. Ok, easier than that Lone Go to Office depot, office max, staples or whatever Go the printer paper aisle, ask the store employee where the printable index cards are. Usually Avery puts out a bunch of nice sets of items. Buy the package. Go home, go to avery.com and search for the package number on the pack you just bought and download it. It will automatically be a choice in your word processor. Begin to use the template by typing the info on the card. then click print and choose the right template. Easy peasy Just follow the directions given in the package. I've done this for address lables, bookmarks, bumper stickers and many other items from Avery. You don't even need to buy the package, just find the package number and download it from Avery. Fill out the template for each drug card and print. Bam instant drug cards.
  6. Lone the only real reason why you don't cheat is that women see that bike and your tats and that long hair and say "ick" just kidding.
  7. yeah, what about the daughters of the civil war? There are no more daughters of those who participated in the war but I dont' think you can be a man and belong to that group. It's sexist if you ask me.
  8. But it's a black guy playing a black guy. so it's not racist since it's a black guy who decided to play a thug and the shooter. So how's it racist if a black person plays the role. Oh yeah, I'm sure that he was forced by his overtly racist sergeant to play that role. Not that he's superbly cast by playing that role. I mean come on, he must have been a shooter or a thug before he became a fireman because he had the best portrayal of a black shooter that I've seen since the last episode of CSI. I mean, he must have had prior education on how to hold the gun with one hand and then his package in the other. Did you see how he held the gun, turned to it's side, Brilliant, just like on America's dumbest criminals. I'd like to meet this guy and ask him what his inspiration was? The white fire men played peeing your pants scared so well that I can't wait to see the sequel. They had the same looks as the people who were getting terrorized by Jason in The Friday the 13th movies so they were type case racially as the scared pee in your pants white crackers who get killed. Or maybe they were cast as the ensign's were in Star Trek where they always died.
  9. Bet you all didn't know that the Hatzolah ambulance service in New York is all men. that's plain discrimination if you ask me. http://www.jems.com/article/news/jewish-female-emts-plan-join-all-male-am
  10. The travel gods smiled on me at last. When I went to pick my car up at the airport at 7:45pm, the lady at the counter said this "all we have are premium cars, would you take a Chrysler 300?" I said, "you betcha as long as it doesn't smell like smoke" she said it has 53 miles on it so it better not.

  11. I was told by a good mentor that you should follow the 70/30 rule when dealing with this situation or helping your best friend through something difficult. let them talk 70 percent of the time and you talk 30 percent. Seems to be a good rule of thumb. any more and you seem like a know it all but any less and you seem like a asshole for not caring. Fine line brother, fine line.
  12. Why not do what most college students do, cram the night before the test or better yet, put all your cards on the table in a pile and fall asleep on them. The information will miraculously osmose into your brain crossing the blood brain/intelligence barrier and be there in your mind to pull out at a moments notice. But to be all honest, you got some great information from almost everyone on this thread.
  13. It's never good enough for people like Crotchity. Even if a department was 100% black, he'd now be pissed because there isn't any mexian or chinese or oriental perosn on the department. I already know what he'd say if a department was 100% black and that they only hired black people, he'd say that that was ok.
  14. Other ingredients not listed, that's the Proprietary blend that so many products have these days. They can use proprietary blend and not put any of their ingredients because if they told what they had, there woudl be knock off products all over the place. sounds like some pretty powerful stuff, maybe I'll go get a couple of cans and do a self initiated experiment.
  15. I'm sure they thought it was funny at the time but it's not so funny now that they are losing money over it. I think that the shooter should get an oscar for portraying a angry black hoodlum from Harlem so well.
  16. the guy might also have a sex additction but that doesn't excuse his behaviour. I travel every week for work, I purposely do not put myself in any situation where I could conceivably cheat because it could happen but I make sure I'm not in a situation where it might. Have I been tempted, yes, several times but each time I've always just done one thing, that is took the picture of my wife and two childrens out of my wallet and say to myself "am I willing to lose these three" and I say nope so I extricate myself from whatever situation I'm in and leave. I don't get myself into these types of situations very often. Over 10 years of travelling I would say I've been in a situation like this maybe 2 or three times. I think it's all in your priorities. If you make your family and wife (spouse or spousal unit) your center then you shouldn't be tempted to cheat. I have a number of co-workers who love the travel aspect of the job (they are married) because what happens in Fargo ND, or Vegas or Tampa or dubuque Iowa won't be found out. This guy isn't a husband, he's a cheater and one who should be divorced but I'm sure that being married is part of his game and part of the thrill. I feel sorry for his wife. I wonder what he would do if his wife was doing the same thing to him? I'll bet he'd be pissed. You need better friends and co-workers.
  17. Every time someone reposts about facebook charging for the service a poor homeless kid gets a full ride to any University of their choosing.

  18. The posts of military versus civilians, the motorcycle guys versus just us and soon aliens versus humans will soon arrive to grace your friends statuses.

  19. Plane has brake pressure issues. No estimated time of departure at this time. Depending on how many people are on the next flights from atlanta to tally, I may not get there till Tuesday.

  20. Herbie quoted As was noted, you need to follow someone who has done this before- whether it be in a hospital or EMS situation. VERY hard thing to do, and unless you don't have a soul, it's never easy. Even after 30 years, it's still a difficult task for me. You'll develop your own approach, you will be able to tell what type of language to use, how detailed your description of the medical efforts needs to be, and what the family seems to need at that moment Yes that's correct. The guy I followed would cry with the parents and would with them if they did that. Every situation is and will be different. I never got very good at this but I did it damned well in my own way, I formed a way of doing things that I woudl read the parents. IF they were angry I'd give em space, if they needed a hand held, I did that. Have I cried with parents who lost their infant daughter, yes I have. Have I joked with the parents as well, if the situation allowed it and the parents were the instigators of the jokes, then yes I laughed. Only you will know how you will react and until you have done the death notification/educaiton/helping you will need to be mentored by someone. It's what I consider one of the hardest jobs in ems. ALWAYS remember, the parents of a deceased child are now your patients. The child is the coroners patient but the parents are yours now. It goes the same with spouses and family members when death comes to their loved one. You just change patients.
  21. Well since we white folks are racist and discriminatory anyway he might be right!!! Nah!!!!!!!!!
  22. Watched a lady go ballistic on a cashier because the 1 dollar bill had writing on it. She was so rude the cashier told her to leave. Weird.

  23. Returning to Facebook, 24% of the 390 colleges surveyed in a USA today article use facebook to check on the applicant. You can't say that your postings on Facebook are private postings anymore. They are directly impacting the admissions standards in at least 93 colleges and probably more who wouldn't admit they check. And in 2009 a Fast Company survey showed that 45% of companies surveyed (about 2600 hiring managers were surveyed) use Facebook as part of the background check. here is the link to the survey writeup http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/kit-eaton/technomix/if-youre-applying-job-censor-your-facebook-page So if we don't think that our facebook profile impacts our lives outside of our own little circle of friends on Facebook then we are sorely mistaken. The advice in the article is really good if you are looking for a job. the number 1 piece of advice I think is that when you are looking for a job, make sure you have your facebook completely set to private. Or just don't apply to places that look at your social networking profiles. Like it says, you wouldn't take the interviewer on vacation with you or take them out to a bar with you so why invite them to see your intimate details that every single person on facebook shares with their circle of friends.
  24. i have always said that if you love your job you'd do it for less but I grew up and faced the reality that I need money to pay my bills. No matter where you live, you need to have enough money to support yourself and your family if you have one. If you would do the job for free then what will you do to support yourself while you are doing the free bit? I don't know many volunteers who have the financial means to survive financially while being a volunteer. Dont' do this job for free, you take away a job from someone who really needs to earn a living. So you need to find a service that pays at least a livable wage and if you cannot find a service who does that then you need to think about a 2nd job to make ends meet. Can't speak for your home life or financial needs but if you can't live off the job salary then maybe it's not a job to be working without either the spouse working or you taking a 2nd job or you making changes in your spending habits.
  25. i would also suspect that with a blast like this that you are not only going to have a severed arm like the story said but with the rock flying at significant force to sever the arm that it would also cause spinal or head injuries. I was an EMT on a call where a man had his arm severed in a car wreck. His arm was outside the car when another car sideswiped him and took his arm several blocks down the road before the driver realized that he had an arm attached to his side mirror or something like that. The damage to the arm was massive but there was minimal blood loss or bleeding. The trauma surgeons said that the blood vessels had constricted so that blood flow was nearly ceased. They were unable to save the arm though, too much damage.
