  1. Good god Vent, You are making mountains out of mole hills. You are the one who started the insults in PM's not me. You are the one who took this way out of proportion and don't come here seeking sympathy from anyone unless you are willing to allow the posting of the PM's that we both shared. I never once insulted you in pm's. You are the one to basically told me to go F myself. You are the one who literally reamed me a new rear end in your first PM. If you wish to dispute that fact, then let's post the PM's and let the group or a select few of the forum decide. If not then you can't just come here and say "You hurt my feelings and you did this or that" and expect it to go away. That's like pulling the race card. You also have never responded this way to anyone on this forum like you have with me. If you go away and stop posting then those who lose in this situation is YOU not me. but whatever!!! If you choose to run away and not answer any of the recent pm's to you from me then you are the loser here.
  2. To be honest, I have racial tendencies but those are tendencies that I keep underwraps. Now before anyone get's all hot and bothered and calls me a racist let me explain. I hate black people who kill, steal, rape or whatever else. I also hate white people who kill, steal, rape or whatever else they do Any race that does this kind of stuff I do not like the person of that race. Does that make me racist, well I'm not sure. I'll bet someone will tell me that it does. Do I care if you tell me that, NOPE not at all. What I hate more than the above is this People who yell racism whenever someone of white skin makes a comment like I just made above and those of other color skin say "That's racist" or 'Your racist" I'm gonna shut up on this because the more I say the angrier I get at this type of behaviour but I hope you understand what I'm getting at.
  3. The reason why it gets blamed on Race is that that is the easiest thing to accuse someone of. Once the race card gets pulled then all intelligent discourse stops and Al Sharpton and his cronies come in to make noise. When you call someone racist, you end all discussion and the idiots just come out.
  4. I think that once again Vent (and no offense intended) you have taken this to literally. I have never been asked to do this, I don't know if anyone else has but I will bet that it will come one day. I'm smart enough to know that you just don't take a doctor's word for it but there are brand new medics who if called and if they are protocol monkeys then they will follow the orders of the doctor telling them to turn off the patients vent. I'm sorry if I took this down a different path and maybe I shouldn't have but sometimes I think you take things too far. Now before you get down to clarifying yourself or telling me why I'm wrong, Let's just drop the discussion and if you want we can discuss this in chat or via PM's. I think that is has been taken too far by both of us. I'm sure that this situation won't happen for a long time so I don't think we need to discuss further.
  5. I have not been put in this situation before so I don't know who would tell me to turn off the vent but let's just say it's the patients physician. This should only happen in a hospital situation but it wouldn't surprise me if it's happened already.
  6. Nope and far from it Vent. I am against putting me in the position of ending life support. The only time I should be required to end life support is when I've worked a code and we've gotten orders to cease efforts. What I am against, and very strongly against is getting a call to a house and having someone tell me that I need to turn off the vent. Has it happened to me, nope not yet. Will it happen, more than likely in the foreseeable future but I DO NOT think it is my responsibility to turn the vent off. This should not be done by EMS. That is what I am against. I was fully supportive of my grandfather being kept off life support and letting him go peacefully in a hospice situation. I think you took my comments out of context. I hope I clarified the fact. Have I turned off someone's vent in the ER, YEP I have. But to go out to someones house to do so is not appropriate for EMS to do.
  7. Thank goodness that most of us will never be put in this particular situation. We as EMS providers should never and I repeat never be required to turn off the vent.
  8. I'll bite dust. So what happens when that quarter who would openly defy policy gets injured and workmen's comp refuses to pay? I'll bet they would come here and vent. If you openly defy policy and it states the consequences then can you truly claim victim status that so many of us like to claim?
  9. My grandmother when she was alive was strongly allergic to many odors and substances. one of the worst things she was allergic to was cigarette smoke and perfume. She was so allergic that if someone who had just smoked or had the smoke smell on them she would begin to wheeze and cough. My mother who was with her whenever the ambulance seemed to be called (she lived in a nursing home) made the ambulance service send a different ambulance because the medic who was on the call had smoked just prior to when she entered the nursing home. She smelled so bad of smoke that my grandmother said she could smell her even before she entered the room. The ambulance service did indeed send a different ambulance for her since it was a simple non-emergency transport to the hospital for evaluation of Pneumonia. Patients can indeed smell you and they should not be offended by your BO or your smoke smell.
  10. So what does your 110 pound demure partner do when you have a code on that 350 pound patient and you get a ROSC?
  11. But then the all black department wouldn't want to take care of the Whites but that would not be racist would it? This department sounds like it's a train wreck with a side of plane crash added to it. I think Dust and AK should swoop in, fire all those who won't get out of their recliners to work and put in some new blood.
  12. NOPE no requirement at all. But they do require the disaster classes from Fema.
  13. If they don't want to work or change the culture then get out the freaking way. It's your job to take care of all the citizens. And this chief should be the first to go since he isn't willing to be a change champion.
  14. They could show pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. This story takes the case for distracted driving. http://abcnews.go.com/Travel/cops-woman-crashes-car-shaving-privates/story?id=10065885 This is the exact reason why the Darwin Awards FAIL. They fail because people who survive do not make the list.
  16. Terrible terrible. It goes to show us all how truly dangerous and vulnerable we are. If a veteran paramedic and tactical medic can be taken out then we all can. Be safe out there.
  17. Excellent thread. Plus 5 Wellens sign makes me nervous and if I see it I'm going to be extra vigilent. This is a rhythm that is not taught in school Good link too. Glad your guy did ok
  18. I'm just guessing here but I'll bet she was wanting to get back to her recliner or to the next "exciting" call. I'd also bet a membership here that she won't get much done to her in discipline. But maybe the DC chief's will man up and fire her ass. caveat: : I only advocate termination if the investigation proves the allegations made by the media. IF there is something else that happened and a different story comes out that is the truth then I will re-evaluate what I have said. My gut is that this is one of them lazy providers.
  19. I'll bet someone a membership here that the wrongway driver was drunk? Any takers?
  20. You lost me just then. Seems like that post wanted to be cohesive but it got caught up in the desire to have a bunch of stuff said in a short period of time.
  21. One other question, if this medic did not document what she did, then can't we then consider that she had a refusal in mind when she arrived on scene? If what is true is what is reported then this medic has NO FREAKING business being in EMS.
  22. Hell, why no additional pain meds? Morphine is definately indicated here. He's having an MI with the elevated troponin. The chest pain is atypical but still, give the guy some pain relief, it's obvious that the Nitro aint workin for the pain.
  23. If what was printed above is correct then WTF? She didn't fill out paperwork or get a refusal signed. If this is true and who is to say it is or isn't but for the sake of argument it is true. This medic needs to be let go. Sorry, I normally do not advocate termination but if you don't document a report nor get a refusal signed then your ass is on the line and it's gonna get shot off. IF she did not follow the requirements then she's out or at least relegated to lots and lots more training. IF she did tell the family that the child needed Steam from the shower then she may have thought croup. Still, that's a significant enough of a complaint to warrant transport or at least recommend transport to the ER by parents vehicle or ambulance. Sounds like she dropped the ball and a 2 year old is dead. Now if she did a report and got a refusal then I change my toon and say let's let this play out to the end.
  24. Now That is FUNNY but seriously.
  25. I'm thinking something was torn or ruptured in the manipulation of this patients neck. I'd not be messing around on scene with this guy. Do we have some sort of Carotid aneurysm or arterial problem under the shoulder area. Did the chiro manipulate and do something to the nerve? I would be quick to initially blame the manipulation but I'm suspecting this might be something more ominous or not. hmmmmm who k nows.
