A man wandering around a fairground enters a fortune tellers tent for a laugh. "I see you are the father of two" says the seer, gazing into her crystal ball. "Ha!!! That's what you think" says the man scornfully "I'm a father of three" "Ha!!!" says the fortune teller, "That's what you think"

They should have to go back and take the emt class again. they were expired and they did not have the correct amount of ceu's to relicense so they didn't effectively relicense. Sad sad sad but EMT work is not rocket science so you don't really forget anything you learned in emt school. Patients I'm sure didn't suffer.

Just read this in Readers Digest Springfield, Missouri: State lawmakers didn't sit still after a neo-nazi group adopted a stretch of highway in Springfield MO. They added an amendment to a bill, renaming that portion of the road after a prominent leader. The neo-nazi's will now be paying for the upkeep and cleaning of the Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel Memorial Highway. What a sense of humor.

Paramedic Died While working Code Texas
Just Plain Ruff replied to spenac's topic in Line Of Duty Deaths & other passings
The problem with my call listed above, I had no-one else out there. We had no fire, no police just myself, my partner and my patient and family. -
I'm sorry but this is just too funny. Who in their right freakin mind would put a black doll with a monkey and then write on their hat "lil monkey". Even I being a hood wearing racist (quoting Crotchity) understood the irony and insensitiveness of this doll.

Dar!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally. -
That pulling him through the store would be a treat to my son. He would think it was a ride at the amusement park. But that being said, this kid seems to not be having a lick of problems with being dragged so I would be dollars to donuts that this has been done to him before.

Paramedic Died While working Code Texas
Just Plain Ruff replied to spenac's topic in Line Of Duty Deaths & other passings
never this extreme but I had a partner who was a diabetic. I was on a dual medic truck when bam he went down. The patient was a seizure patient. Still seizing. Paramedic said "I don't feel so good" and bam down he went Told family to call 911 and have them send another ambulance since our radios didn't work out in the boonies. I stopped the seizure patient's seizures and then treated my partner. By the time the ambulance from the neighboring county got there all was good but I can tell you I was crapping bricks at the time. That's the kind of unexpected things that happen in the business. You deal with that and go on. Needless to say I was a bit shook up. -
Why did the police pull your ambulance over?

You just know that this will see the inside of a courtroom. Unless of course the college does a cost benefit analysis and pays her out of court. She's gonna get some money out of this, this is just how the world operates. Thanks to the legal system and it's free for all in providing money to those who claim they have been wronged. It's easier to settle out of court than go thru trial. If you lose then you pay more, if you settle you settle most of the time for less. The end result will be Money to the student and a precedent will be set for all those college kids with art history degrees not getting jobs and they just threaten to sue and bam, free college. Unless you are an illegal alien and then your college is FREE

I'm surprised this idiot graduated. I'm sure that she only went to the career advice center once or twice and didn't like the advice given. I'm sure she had high hopes like most graduates that they will get a job right out of college making 6 figures. There are IT jobs out there but they are not always at the college's job placement centers. Plus there are more seasoned people out there who have lost their jobs that are looking for the same jobs that this girl is looking for. She has alot to prove before she can win this case.

Oh crotch did you get your feelings hurt when some of us called you an idiot or other name. But your double standard is that you can call us racists or hood wearing racists yet you get your wittle feeewings hurt when someone calls you an idiot. You have shown your liberal leanings in calling for 10million dollars to each black family in america so "they can get ahead of the white man" or just to use the money to put the white man in his place. poor poor crotchity, I apologize for calling you a name, please don't go to the principal and tattle on me.

Getting drunk once and killing yourself does indeed make you a boozer. If you werent boozing it up you would probably not have killed yourself. And you would not have driven drunk so yes you are a boozer. I'm sure that once is not the correct number here.

Once again the great conciliator Crotchity has spoken Nowhere did I say that I did not agree with the decision to drop the bomb on the two japanese cities. Nowhere did I say that having these bombs were not a good idea. I just don't like their destructive capabilities but do appreciate their deterrent effect. I would take Terri's grandmothers quote to heart Crotch.

Terri, I absolutely think that they knew what it would cause. ABSOLUTELY

One of the biggest things to come out of the war was the atomic bomb. (no pun intended) It is truly sad that in war we can kill 50K or more people in less than 1 minute and thousands more in weeks. I have long been a proponent and opponent of nuclear weapons. Proponent for the deterrent effect that they provide Opponent for the wholesale destruction/damage and number of fatalities

Yes AMA of the patient. Right now if the patient refuses then our physicians let them. It doesn't matter if they are altered or intoxicated if they refuse treatment and care then our docs won't force them to the hospital. We also do not have a refusal check list and often times a report doesn't even get logged, just a short note on the refusal form. I know I know, danger danger danger will robinson but this is the way it is. I think that as soon as we get our asses sued then changes will be made but I'm trying to head that off at the pass.

Why tell her/him to quit? This would be a fine opportunity to get the boss fired and then JUMP right into the boss's job.

EMT-B National Test (info please?)
Just Plain Ruff replied to Bamx's topic in NREMT - National Registry of EMT's
Ok, I'm gonna piss some people off on this comment but hey, I'm working a crappy shift so I'm gonna do it any way. If it takes you 180 to 200 questions to prove your competence or knowledge base then are you sure you really know the material? You might want to consider studying a little harder next time. I took the NR test a number of years ago in the written format so I'm not familiar with the computer test but who knows if I could pass the test now being I've not studied for that type of test since then. -
You know my friend Murphy of Murphy's Law. He just has a knack for showing up when you least expect or want him to. I think it's just coincidence that it happened at the same time you gave her benadryl.

QUOTE (spenac @ Aug 1 2009, 03:59 PM) OK here is the most practical and simple solution. Remove the CRNA's and have the Paramedics come in and do all intubation and ventilation in the OR. This saves hospitals money and allows all Paramedics to maintain their skills. Ok, Spenac, I disagree on this one. As a patient I'd much rather have a CRNA who has been to many many more hours or years of schooling intubate me in the OR than a paramedic with a 1000 hours of school, of which only 24 - 36 hours of schooling was focused on respiratory. And then a yearly lab on the manikan and maybe 5-10 or so codes or intubations under their belt. I'll take that CRNA over the medic any day.
