I need to chat with someone who works at a 911 service covering West Palm Beach Florida. I would like to chat about setting up a ride-along with your service for one of the Doctors who works in our ER son. (that doesn't sound right ) One of the our ER doc's son's is doing a rotation down there. (that sounds better I think) His son is doing clinical rotations in West Palm Beach and he would like to do some observation time on the ambulance. If medics are going to rely on this application to do their jobs it better be completely accurate. Make sure that you double and triple check for spelling errors and grammatical errors. Nothing like a cheaply designed and programmed application that can't even spel if u knw what I meen!!!!

I cannot remember the last time that I put someone in left lateral recumbent.

My experience was with two takeovers. 1. first was a buyout of a existing pretty good service and AMR came in and kept most of the employees without us having to re-apply to be hired. Some they let go but those were the dead weight of the service. 2. Came in and took over a county with the approval of the county. They did not hire any of the people from the ambulance service they took over from because none of those people could be hired based on AMR's personnel qualifications. The original ambulance service was so terribly run that AMR couldn't hire any of the employees for fear of shoddy patient care. It also didn't help those people from the service that got booted that they made death threats (openly in public) towards the AMR crews which came in to cover the county. I was personally threatened at least 15 times by employees of the original service. It got so bad that the original service was jumping calls and several times things got so unsafe on scene that I left those scenes until law enforcement got there. Each time LEO's sided with us and removed the offending crew but patients were put in the middle of a turf war which I think may have cost some of those patients their lives or it affected their long term health. This was a very very bad time in my career.

I see a lot of grant info on non hospital based EMS but are there grants available to hospital based ems?

but doc, he's one of the exceptions which Crotchity seems to say don't count. I wholeheartedly agree on him being held up to be a fine example. But then again, he's the exception to the rule and there are hundreds if not thousands of others being held down by the white man.

Obama is the exception to the rule you know, so we should not hold him up as a prime wonderful example of how far the black man can go. Or maybe not, he might not be a good example.

Does anyone feel like we are banging our head against the wall trying to see eye to eye on this issue? I understand Crotchity has distinct and specific beliefs and a specific mindset and that myself and many others here have another mindset. I know it all comes down to our core beliefs. You cannot change core beliefs and it's damned hard to try.

I tend to agree with CHBARE, you need to put the patient in the best position to protect the airway. If that means on their back then put em on their back but if they are protecting their airway fine then left lateral recumbant would be appropriate.

Does anyone know what the test actually covered? Did it cover the wine goblet question or did it cover firefighting. If it coved the wine goblet question the what the hell was that doing on a firefighting test but if it covered firefighting information and people didn't pass it then damnit, they failed regardless of racism. How many of us whitey's failed that test? Personal experience, I took the KC MO police officer entrance test a long time ago (too long ago for what I wish to remember) but of the 400 of those who took the test there was an equal number of blacks, whites and other colors as well as a few green 3 eyed 3 armed aliens who passed the test and there was what I could see an equal number of the same above that failed. Even the white guy who I went to school with who made better grades than I failed the test. I guess that all those whites who failed the test were just dumber than those under-advantaged black guys who failed it right?

And if you must "grade" us, we should have an extra 10 points added to our score, for doing all of the work all year long while you white guys are running your side business on fire department time for most of the shift. Why don't we just spot you 15 or 40 points. You seem to be trying to prove the argument that all blacks are so stupid that they need to get an additional 10 or 20 points. Is that what you are trying so hard to prove?

Just listened to this lecture. Apparantly Detroit EMS has a 0% survival rate from out of hospital cardiac arrest and the next lowest or in the bottom 3 is Chicago. Not sure where KC MO's rate is but who knows.

I've had several arrest saves First one was about 3 months ago, chest pain short of breath on the streetcorner near the local watering hole. On arrival found a patient in tremendous respiratory distress. We put her on the cot and into the ambulance and bam, she coded. CPR for a little bit, tubed and monitor showed profound bradycardia. Ventillated for a short time and pulse rate came back to the 80's, called a bird and patient was flown from the ER and discharged from the receiving hospital with no residual issues. 2nd patient a long time ago was a woman with chest pain in an upstairs room. 12 lead unremarkable. Walked her downstairs to the cot, moved to ambulance, watched patient go from sinus rhythm to slow rate with multiple PVC's and then R on T and v-fib. Called partner to come back and help, shocked x 2 with return of good pulses. Tubed and transported. Flew from ER to cardiac center and she was home in 3 days. Several others but can't truly remember all the details.

Well they cremated Michael yesterday, they melted him down and made him into Lego's. Now the kids can play with him instead of him playing with the kids.

An open letter of apology to Crotchitymedic and all the oppressed people of the world. I am sorry for being white. I had no idea that my just being white made me racist and a hood wearing Klansman. I will endeavor to become less white and less racist. I will turn in my white sheet and hood and attempt to stop oppressing those oppressed and especially I will stop trying to oppress you Crotchity. I never realized that by being white I was oppressing the downtrodden and less fortunate than myself. I have said it and I'll say it again, if you need to dumb down a test that already has been dumbed down to a 6th grade level then yes you are dumber than a 6th grader, but I was wrong in that assumption and I will endeavor to stop the OPPRESSION. I hereby will give up any advancement if there is a oppressed person going for the same job. If they don't have the same credentials as I, and they have less credentials then I will give the opportunity to that oppressed person even though they may not be up to the job but in order to do my part I will do it, damnit. I, in your last thread where you called us all racist responded with my experiences with people of color in supervisory roles in the departments that I had and do work for. I take significant offense to your lumping all of us on this forum as racist. You do not see me here lumping you in to the all black men are stupid or all black men are criminals. Again, once the race card is pulled then all intelligent discourse is ceased for fear of being called a racist. You are practicing reverse racism here. I have worked in numerous capacities where a black man or woman, a hispanic or whatever other oppressed race you want to put out there have been in some sort of leadership role and those people have all been very smart and I am sure deserved their position. If you need a dumbed down version of a standardized test that is already dumbed down enough then you probably need to choose a different line of work.

Hang on Rat115, Robert is the one who got up in arms about the brits doing practice lights and sirens run so your last statement at least to him will not make sense. I work in a rural area where after 10pm there is little to no traffic. I can get anywhere in my town without lights and sirens as fast as I can with lights and sirens. I rarely turn on the lights and sirens to any call if it's after midnight becuase the traffic that I have to get through is just not there. If I need to turn them on I turn them on to get through the two busiest intersections in town but at 10pm or midnight there may be 1 or two cars that I need to clear. During the day is different and L&S are always used. I have people at night I work with that use the L&S on every call they get dispatched to, be it a ill subject or a ankle injury. I know from working in many different systems that L&S do not save time and can cause more harm than good sometimes. My experiences.
