I agree wholeheartedly with you Mike, If Obama indeed did not know anything about the flyover then by all means he's blameless but if he did even have a idea it would happen then blame where blame is required. But so many out there want to put blame at the top which is sometimes where it needs to fall but to hold a person responsible for everything that went wrong which is what many many people are doing with Bush is just wrong. I think we need to set aside the petty blame games and get on with the business of running the country. I did not vote for Obama yet he's who got elected and do I agree with what he is doing to this country NO but for all intents and purposes, he's just doing what he "feels" is right on his compass and my job is to point out what i dislike about his decisions and hopefully get people to listen to my side which is increasingly difficult to do any more.

You mean in your class you got to use the stretcher and learn about it? The class I was in (1990) we were lucky if we even saw a stretcher on our first day of work before we saw one in class.

We only see the footage of inside the school. How do we not know that outside the school was being fortified to protect both the president and the children. We get on here all the time complaining about waiting for the whole story before passing judgement but here we are passing judgement on something we don't really know completely about. Ok, now that we've discussed the benefits and pitfalls of the IO let me ask this The manufacturer calls for in all it's literature a flush of lidocaine to minimize pain. I would say that most of us will never get an IO so we won't know the pain involved but what happens in your protocol when you do not follow the manufacturers directions when it specifically says to flush with lidocaine? Are we (those who approve the protocols) committing negligence or injury when we don't follow the manufacturers recommendations? What kind of liability are we facing when we go against what the manufacturer says. Discuss!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mobey, without your medical director being on board I'll bet you get no-where. Not trying to discourage you in doing this but the fact of the matter (hated cliche) is, without your medical director on board then you will have a difficult time getting any kind of accountability. The medical director obviously does not believe in accountability. One of your medics will have to do something egregious for your medical director to act me thinks. And then the medical director will be forced to act. Good luck

We have no black EMS supervisors because we have rarely had a black person apply for work at our EMS agency - If they were qualified then they'd be hired. If they were not qualified then nope no hire. But we have one supervisor and he's been in the job for over 5 years and he's not planning on leaving anytime soon so there has been no position open. Our department is probably not one to compare but you did ask. And Crotch, just because there are no black people working in a particular department does not give you the right to accuse us of racism which you did with your last sentence. This is why people don't want to have a discourse with you is that you continually insert the race card.

half the time that I see the insane speed is when they are empty and they want to get somewhere. No patient is worth the wreck, the paperwork, the injuries and the questions and answers you have to face. If your ambulance service has a policy listed as no speeding when non-emergency and then a certain speed above when running emergency then you are breaking policy and you have to face the consequences if caught. I have been caught, it got me 3 days of suspension I've been caught not backing without a backer, 1 day suspension I learned my lessons.

ok, since Dwayne asked I have wanted a son to carry on my name since I was a child. That's it. We have the son. After 4 failed pregnancies with one being a still born at 17 weeks, I didn't think that I wanted to try again. My wife wasn't sure either. She didn't want to face that loss again. But we found out we were pregnant 4 days after her father died and we said "Holy shite, we can't face another loss" but after that perspective passed we realized that this might be a great thing. So after 18 weeks we have a healthy fetus, a girl growing inside. It's a awesome feeling. Robert, the way you asked the question made me feel that you were questioning us in having a child. It came off that way but there's your answer. Good or bad, it's an answer.

Fiznat, yes I have turned some of them in for driving over the posted speed limit. One time in particular I was sleeping and I felt something strange, like we were floating. I woke up, noticed that the highway signs were just a blur. I looked at the speedometer and saw us going at least 85 on a 2 lane road with some moderate traffic. I told the driver to slow down, then after a few minutes we were that fast again. I told the driver again to slow down and he didn't. He was reported to management. I'd like to see what the defense someone puts up when they are running 85 in a 55 zone and they hit a guy who pulled out thinking he had enough room to get across the highway and he ends up dead. so YES, I do report my drivers if they consistently break the speed limit. 5-8 miles an hour over is one thing, 20-25 miles over is another. Fiznat, the question is put back to you, what will you tell the drivers family when you going 75-85 in the ambulance hit their loved one and kills them. Don't say it won't ever happen, you have just as much a chance to wreck as anyone else out there.

Good afternoon all I have had the pleasure of several ambulance rides in the past months where the driver either emergent or non-emergent drove well over the posted speed limit. I have spoken up yet apparantly this does not work. I know the reasons behind this phenomenon but I was wondering what you all thought the reasoning behind this fast driving is.

The WHO has just today increased the pandemic level from 4 to 5 which is pretty big. The other thing that the WHO is saying is that it's not to the level of closing borders. Just please wash your hands, brush your teeth(to those out there with bad breath) and keep your uniform separate from your families clothes when you wash. If you feel ill like the flu don't go to work. Stay home and keep away from the family. I'm extra vigilant based on our pregnancy.

For some of you here you won't care, some of you will be like WOW and others will just be Cool But we found out the sex of our baby due in September. It's a girl For some of you on here, you will understand what a blessing to us this is. For others let's just say it's after a lot of trying and sadness that we are preggo.

I treat every patient the same, faking or not. If they warrant an intervention they get it. If they don't they don't get it. This guy is very very very very very very very very very well known to us in our ER and his LOC was concerning so he got treated as any seizure patient would. I gotto go on a transfer now so I'll be back.

I've never seen marijuana do that type of effect and I've been to some really Rocking parties, just kidding. I would suspect that each of those people were feeding you a line of bull and they weren't telling you the whole story. It's sort of like once they know you are a medic/emt they seem to have some outlandish reactions to stuff sort of like when new emt/medics sit around the station house and swap who has a bigger penis (worst call) than the other. Here's how it usually goes "I took care of a partial decapitation on one wreck I worked" says new emt 1 New emt2 says well I took care of a complete decap and the guy was still breating new emt3 says well I saved a guy who's head was 10 feet away from his body, we reattached it and he walked out of the hospital. The bigger the boast the better the call. So my suspicions are that these people were trying to impress you how wasted they were. Maybe going to different parties (less drug use) would be a good idea.
