  1. actually , if the person cannot get it in two times then I'm more apt to do it myself for them than let them try again especially if they caused a lot of pain. I actually had to help a tech in a docs office find my vein. It was the size of a pencil but they couldn't hit it if their lives depended on it so I guided it in for them. (that was the needle you guys not anything else)
  2. I had versed for my EGD and was told i said some things but they said they would blackmail me with those statements sometime in the future.
  3. Dust I agree. number two just shouted "GEt me to cath lab"
  4. inthe
  5. don't hold your breath. Go Dave Ramsey
  6. nope mine doesn't. Most services I know of say you have to get it on your own.
  7. i just took delivery of mine and it drives like crap, stops the occasional road rage yahoo but it is just too bulky for my taste.
  8. I am also curious as to what the month long event is? one good example of a long event and ems coverage is the burning man event. Went there about 10 years ago and it was cool. I went as a participant and not a medic. you could probably get some good info from the ems organizers of that event.
  9. Goodluck I know you will do fine. Just be safe.
  10. and working out of your own home, not having any inventory it's all done for ya. the only ones making money are the ones you are sending your 29.99 to.
  11. I prefer the method of putting the book under the pillow and hoping to God that osmosis works.
  12. I think it's a great idea what you are wanting to do but it's gonna be hard. good luck and I would get a good manager with their head on straight to help you run this business.
  13. very difficult to make 6 figures part time unless you are those yahoo's on the tv get rich quick schemes who always seem to be doing this part time but making a million dollars.
  14. spenac I agree. the city I used to work in had a full time paid fire department staff of about 5. All others were volunteers. they had enough staff to drive the trucks to the fire or get a full crew together in station to respond to a MVC call and then the volunteers would be called in to cover the station in case of a "fire" call or another mvc. Dual volly/paid fire is not a bad thing imho dual volly/paid ems might not be bad either. Paid crews to cover first line and volly backups to cover the odd 2nd ambulance call. Which happened about 3 times a month.
  15. Case in point guys, today I went to see my grandmother in the nursing home. She was asleep, I woke her. It took her a full three or four minutes to fully get to alert status. I knew better but someone who didn't might say OMG, Call 911 shes having a stroke or something. I agree that we read too much into things but Doc is right, differentials here. so what happened to the old bird?
  16. I am a wait and see type of guy on this too. How do you treat the patient if they ahve it on and you need to remove it? I think education needs to precede the adoption of this device. We need to know how to remove it and not cause further injury.
  17. Terri
  18. I agree Rid, I have used a couple of family members in a code situation to hold the bag of fluid, or to hold granny's hand. It's on a case by case basis and only I make that decision to allow them to participate.
  19. white shirts do look professional but let's keep em for the supervisors and those who don't get messy. one drop of blood or iodine or whatever and the shirt that looked professional is no longer professional, it's simply dirty.
  20. worthless
  21. Prehospital you many times have no choice in letting family watch. Just designate one person to explain what is being done so the family has a chance to ask questions.
  22. for some of us in this profession orange Jumpsuits would be a good uniform
  23. the last landing I went thru felt like that.
  24. just be yourself and answer the questions they throw at ya honestly. an ER tech job is not rocket science stuff. It's cleaning, transporting, assisting and other stuff. If you have a progressive ER then you might get to do stuff but more than likely you will be a scut worker doing the busy work and gopher stuff for the ER staff. Expect to learn stuff but don't expect to be a hero.
