  3. i prefer to write all my info on patients down on their foreheads. I have ready access to the info if I'm at the head of the cot on the jump seat or the bench seat.
  4. sorry bout that cmk I would cancel that pay per view cause you just wasted about 14.95 or whatever your pay per view charges are. If you hated epic movie and borat then you will definately hate reno 911 - miami
  5. I see that there are at least three sides of this argument. side 1- don't stop you already have a patient on board. they are your responsibility side 2 - stop and render care until the other ambulance gets there side 3 - stop only to ascertain injuries and notify dispatch as to what injuries. Which side is correct - some would say side1, others side 2 and even others side 3 Does anyone have access to the law search system not sure what the name of it is. If you do maybe you could do a search as to are there any lawsuits that fall under one of the three sides of this argument. What is the legal precedent to not stopping or for stopping?? If you have a medic in the back of the ambulance taking care of the patient and the driver gets out to check on injuries is that a bad thing? The patient is not suffering for the delay unless it's a long delay. (this does not include critical patients because no one will argue that you stop with a critical patient.). The emt or medic driver checks on injuries and the patient still has the same level of care that they started out with. I personally don't see the harm in stopping. let's put this on the other foot, many are saying that if they were the parents of the 9 month old and you stopped that you would sue. how bout there is a patient in the car and you stopped long enough to get the address and call it to dispatch and you told the bystanders that you have another ambulance coming. Would you not be pissed off that the ambulance stopped but then kept on going?? Just curious how you'd feel or if you would sue the ambulance service for not rendering care??? What if you are the patient in that car and you saw the ambulance drive on by and not stop? You know it was one of the ambulances that service your town. What would you do? Would you sue them for not stopping.

  8. Ok, I'm gonna do something that I never thought I would do in a million years. i'm gonna give out my supersecret search web page that if you cannot find what you need on this page with all of it's search engines then you won't find it on the web. The link is http://oedb.org/library/college-basics/res...h-beyond-google Please don't say I never gave you all anything. To the two of ya who are looking for grant writing or proposal writing I believe theres some links that might help you out. Look under government or the education part.
  9. I wonder if studies have been done to compare the pulse ox reliability? Take a patient with an Art line and also a pulse ox on. Compare the two. Wonder what the discrepancies would be?
  10. small town hopsital - dialysis is about 100 miles to the north in KC MO. IV push potassium - 40cc's of potassium to be exact. Nurse was new, she didn't know to dilute the potassium in a bag of fluid. patient suffered massive cardiac effects and coded on the cot. never brought this patient back. Too much pottassium. this occurred about 10 or so years ago. This was before the IV"s with potassium were either pre- mixed or were mixed by pharmacists. It was also prior to the drug companies putting on the metal ring around the needle port "MUST BE DILUTED". According to my friend who told me about this, this was a very bad deal for all around.
  11. One more item which will seal this scenario is that the nurse told you and the doctor that when she was administering the potassium that the patient complained that his arm really really burned. About the time he stopped talking is when she realized that the patient had gone into arrest.
  12. Nope, this was a hospital that had the nurses mix the bag of KCL so the order was 40meq of kcl. As you look over at the nurse who was taking care of the patient she has a very scared look in her eyes. Like something she had done might have contributed to this patients very very rapid arrest state. There is an empty vial of kcl (40 meq) and no label on the iv bag that is running. What question might you want to ask this nurse? She was indeed in the room with the patient when he arrested.
  13. Does your company offer educational assistance? Pm me, we can chat. There has to be a way to help you get the 11g's that you need. WE just have to get creative.
  14. At least the lake house was watchable, I spent 15 bucks and 2 hours of my life was wasted when I went to see REno 911 - Miami. Now that's a instant cult classic.
  15. well I thought you were on the right track. Patient was not given any phenothiazine. More information coming The physician ordered 40 meq's of KCL to be given to the patient via IV. Does this help?
  16. I'm highly suspicious that this will not make it to theaters.
  17. and no offense brandi but you will have just wasted 10 bucks and 2 hours of your life that you will never get back. have fun at the movie.
  18. Dancin' Vinny Jones doesn't sound like a pirate name.
  19. just shocked at this. My favorite infomercial is just a fake. He had me at "good evening, tonight we're gonna discuss" I'm so crushed and I thought that Kevin was telling the truth. In fact I even have one of his books in my library given to me as a gift. http://www.infomercialwatch.org/tran/trudeau.shtml

  23. Azcep, you get your potassium level and it is way off the charts. It has nothing to do with radiological dye.
  24. you are on the right track
  25. One thing that might make this clearer is that the labs were called to the ER about 10 minutes prior to the patient going into arrest. The patient was in X-ray when the labs were called. Something happened in that 10 minutes. What might have happened?????
