  1. i've done both the 911 dispatching as well as paramedic. I would not have sent the medics because she's already at the hospital. I would have called the hospital and asked to speak to the supervisor and tell them I've had several 911 calls to get this woman help but that would be the extent of what I would do. The media, again, is making a mountain out of a mole hill and they should stop focusing on the 911 dispatchers and take a closer look at the hospital's actions.
  2. Richard, that's just it. Once your reputation has been tarnished even though you have been cleared of whatever caused it to be tarnished, the damage is done. It takes a single second to destroy a reputation but it takes a lifetime to restore that reputation and I would say 99% of those whose reputations were destroyed never got those rep's back. It's a terrible thing that our society is like this but unfortunately this is the way it is.
  3. masta that is a well put argument. This is alleged and not proven yet. Before we go on a witch hunt and crucify this particular person (again no names) we need to get all the parties involved and sort it out. If this indeed happened then the person in question should be disciplined but if it didn't then the person making the statements should also face a similar amount of discipline. like I said, professionalism starts at the individual level and not the industry level.
  4. Mike REad BeORP's post above your last post. You will find the answer there. like Vs EH? said one time "doesn't anyone even try anymore"
  5. this has been gone over ad nauseaum. Please click on the search button on the top of the screen, type in interview questions and you will get 155 results. some will work for you others will not but on the first page alone there are several threads which will answer your question. Please search the site before you ask a general question like that. It will save you a lot of grief and you'll get a lot of answers.
  6. There is no way that this forum (emt city) could be an effective means of assisting to unofficially police the profession of EMS until every member of the EMS community is a member of this forum. It would be impossible unless names were given and like someone has posted before, this is an alleged incident. Plus our forum has had in the past someone who posted that they were going to kill themselves so how do we know that this actually happened and is not a drama queen or King wanting attention????? Before we cast stones, we need to be sure that those stones are being casted at the right person. If we become the unofficial police of the profession of EMS then might we be caught up in the moment and accuse or police some innocent individual. I for one agree, professionalism is missing from SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY People these days and this forum would become a very bogged down place and a place that many would shy away from if we started to pass judgement on the professionalism of alleged incidents. I think it is more imperitive that we work behind the scenes of our own agencies and houses to assure that our houses/agencies are professional. WE all do things that others consider unprofessional. Drive 5 miles per hour over the speed limit Talk about patients to our co-workers. (HIPAA violation) Talk about one another behind their backs (gossip) Bitch and moan about management in a forum like this rather than confront the problems in management. Until we as a group can say that we are professional 100% of the time then we start to walk up a very slippery slope in policing others. I just don't think that our place as members of this forum or this forum overall to be the police. It's a noble gesture and noble endeavor but unless we are prepared for kickback and resistance then we need to mind our own houses and services. Professionalism starts one person at a time. Not an industry at a time.
  7. ok here is what I see On september 25 Sledogg1 posted the last reply from the first session of replies Then on Feb 04 2007 EMSMonster (33 posts) posted on this and 3-4 people replied Then on June 12, 2007 Mustangx (2 posts) posted and it's been living dead since then
  8. New members see all forums and posts from eternity on out. so my guess is it's new members posting on this.
  9. I can remember the time when the State of Missouri test result turn around was close to two months. This was of course when the State bureau was going through some upheaval and major changes. 3 days doesn't seem to be a long time to wait. I'll bet the OP has their results already.
  10. I'll bet that's what happened. dust, get over there and investigate for us.
  11. well he's got a crappy job but someone's gotta do it. This thread just gets better and better.
  12. I find that one valium and a stiff shot of whiskey just before a test helps me. But seriously, I just pm'd you with some practical top notch advice.
  13. guys why pay for something that others will do for free?
  14. this guy sounds like a dangerous person. Everything he did to these co-workers was inappropriate unless we aren't getting the full story. SCARY Even as a student I knew enough not to let anyone come at me with the paddles.
  15. We've discussed this in pms but you didn't address anyone else, especially the open ridicule of your earlier posts. Ok, rant off. I accept your apology.
  16. Doc, what you just posted was well known in the fire circles and ems circles. as a matter of fact, it was pretty obvious. be careful what you post, you might get labelled as captain obvious too.
  17. eric , was that the best you can do? I'm sure that being called a firemonkey doesn't upset your delicate sensibilities. Or did I misread that you were upset about being labelled a firemonkey? Here is what you say its all good, but there IS a constant degrading of the fire service here. and it is indeed an EMS forum, not a fire one. i'm perfectly fine with it, i just don't understand why. you say you are perfectly fine with it but you don't understand why. I don't know how long you've been in EMS but paramedics have been called ambulance drivers long before the term firemonkey has been around. It's in the lexicon of EMS speak now and it's here to stay. The degrading of fire departments have been postulated by a few on this forum and those few know who they are. It's here to stay and just as medics have gotten used to the term Ambulance driver, you fire guys Or Firemonkeys as some put it, need to get used to that term. And by the way any reason why you chose to insult me rather than those who seriously laughed at you in this thread?
  18. But suffice it to say she should be the butt of the jokes by leno and letterman. Anyone want to try to put together a top ten list?
  19. Eric, calling a firefighter a firemonkey is no different than calling a paramedic an ambulance driver. Both are derogatory terms to the person being called firemonkey or ambulance driver.
  20. maybe she finds the toilets and toilet paper at the court house to be of better quality than she can get at the local convenience store.
  21. No if's and's or Butts is that she's goin to jail. 3 years for 3 rolls of TP. That's one year per roll. Hopefully they were good rolls and worth it.
  22. no it's not safe to say. I had a couple of students get about 65 questions a piece and they both failed. If you were asking if like 25 questions and it stopped would constitute a failing grade then yes but you never know until you get your results.
  23. no one said we were perfect. Most of us were asking why you didn't get a 12 lead as they dont' take that much time to do. Don't get so bent out of shape when we question why you did what you did. We were just wondering why you didn't get a 12 lead.
  24. Bill's the man but my shrine is for his days on Star Trek and TJ HOoker not Rescue 911(where no-one ever dies)
  25. now that's a feel good story.
